Day Four Part Three

DSCF0792.jpg

It’s time for lunch at Scifi!! SciFi, SciFi, SciFi!!!!! I loves me some SciFi! Our ADR was at 11:10 but we got there a little before 11. 10:58 to be exact! If you’ve never been to the Scifi before, the room (broom closet!) where you check in is tiny and everyone is squeezed in trying to checkin and wait to hear your name. We slowly made our way to checkin and then squeezed together into a corner. The CMs came out and started calling names, but it is so crazy, no one can hear and no one is coming. So by the time they called our name, we all shouted, “Here!” together!! Everyone laughed and the poor CM about jumped out of her skin!

Time for lunch!!

DSCF8915.jpg

It’s such a cool restaurant. Even though it is a large room, it is cool and quiet, well except for the large movie preview they show.

Perspective from our seat.

DSCF8914.jpg

Our waiter was Andre from Haiti. He was wonderful. (You can tell they are good if I remember their name.) The children and I got the usual, hamburger and chicken tenders. Chuck was adventurious and choose the pastrami on rye. I know that the some folks don’t care too much for the SciFi, and some of the dishes are just ‘ehh’, but the pastrami was very, very good and it was something different than a hamburger. Andre suggested we try the vanilla Coke made like a fountain drink. The Vanilla Coke fountain drink was very good, and wasn’t too sweet like the bottled drink can be. It was delish!! Of course, we got wonderful shakes as well. All that sugar definitely had us buzzing!! Feel the rush!!

Chuck tries a different perspective.

Here’s a little shot around the room. Not so great but you can get the picture.

The movie clips are great. Here is an old friend.

DSCF8920.jpg

Another good friend of the family.

DSCF8916.jpg

Here’s a little clip. You can hear us discussing the very expensive things we saw at Wicket’s warehouse earlier.

We really lingered and enjoyed our lunch. Andre did not rush us at all. It’s definitely on the list for next year!!

It was really getting hot and after our good meal, we were all ready for a nap. We decided to take a quick look into the Art of Disney store.

We saw these cute little guys on the way.

DSCF0791-1.jpg

Do they really sell those guys?

DSCF0778-1.jpg

Chuck was toying with the idea of getting another big fig and wanted to see what was on hand. I saw a print of DHS that I fell in love with and got it. What do you think?

DSCF1100Small.jpg

A very knowledgeable CM showed us the prints they have with hidden things in them. I thought about getting the Pirates of the Caribbean one, but maybe next trip. I was in love with this new print I had gotten. In fact, on the ride back to Pop Century I had the idea to go to the other theme parks to see if I could get the whole set before our APs ran out that night. I could take the bus and everyone else could rest. Good plan, right? I thought so!

To pre-order the Photopass CD, go here:
http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx
You save a little money (pre price is 99.95, after price
is 125). I have had several trips where I thought I wouldn't
do Photopass so didn't pre-order, but then I always do, so
this time I took advantage of the savings.

Don't look now, but there's a strange man in your back seat! Maybe you were really in a scary Sci-Fi movie of your own! Oooooo-weeeee-oooooo.

I can't tell you what the package picture does to a claustrophobic person. Even though I know the boys are NOT sealed up in there, it still makes me start gasping for breath to see that!

I love the picture, and I think getting the most out of the night and the AP is a wonderful idea!

I've never seen such great pictures of Sci-Fi! Totally makes me want to go. I'm a burger and fries kinda gal anyway and how badly can they screw that up??

Love, love, love the picture that looks like you're action figures in the plastic packaging!

And love, love, LOVE that print! Tell me you found one for each park!!

Awesome pictures of Sci-Fi! DH and I ate there on our honeymoon! Yummy!

I love the Mickey print! Did you get all of them???

I am dying to know if you made it to the other parks and found the other prints!!!

I love the colors on the SWW shirts that you made -- where did you get them?

I got way behind, but now I'm caught back up and will try to stay with you now. I absolutely love your report. Great pictures and storytelling!! I have to say my favorite pictures so far are of the Nemo show. I love Nemo! We got to see it and it has to be one of my favorite shows at WDW. Great Illuminations pics too. Somehow we ended up missing Illuminations this trip. Looking forward to more!!!

Cathy

Glad that you liked the Sci-Fi, we really need to try this some trip. We had a disappointing experience at 50's, so the only other place we have tried in HS is Mama Melrose's.

Great update. We've eaten at the Sci-Fi a couple of times...it's lots of fun!

I love the print you got! Very nice. :thumbsup2

Another great update! I really like the pring that you got of DHS. DH and I have started collecting prints like that from everywhere we travel. We have 1 Disney and then some from places across England we have been. I think it is a great way to keep track of our travels. I am interested to see if you got any matching ones from the other parks.

Thanks for the info! That is definitely on my list for summer. I dont' know if Chuck and I will take that many Photopass pictures. We'll be moving too fast!!
Less than a week for you!!!!

OMG hilarious, what a great photo idea :rotfl2:

We loved SciFi too, we don't have drive in movies here so it was a great experience.

So did you find all the prints?

You'll just have to wait until the next update to find out!!

We had two hictchhikers, a father and son in our backseat, but you know they didn't talk to each other at all when they were back there. Really strange!!

The burgers and fries there are great! Make sure you get some vamilla coke or a milkshake!!

You will soon find out if I got them all!!!

Thanks! Did I get them all? Hmmmm.....

I got the shirts at A C Moore. A nice lady on the Disigns board designed the transfers from a pin I really liked. We got so many comments!

We love Nemo, too. I think it is just above Lion King as my favorite show now.
I'm glad you are back! I'm enjoying your report, too.

You should try it! We had a bad experience at 50's as well. I don't think we'll go there again. We've not tried Mama melrose. It's usually SciFi or the ABC Comissary for us!

That is a great idea!! I've got one print from one of our trips to Charleston. We do occasionally go somewhere other than Disney.:rotfl: Not often!!

Thanks for reading, everyone!!!!

Another great update! We just discovered Sci-Fi on our last trip and now it is a favorite - we are going back next month. Love the print you bought - can't wait to find out if you got the others!

Day Four Part Four

There are few pictures in this update because we were moving pretty fast. and it’s hard to hold a camera when you are melting!!! When we left you, I had just come up with the bright idea of going over to Epcot and AK (we were headed to MK that night) and picking up the matching prints to my DHS one. Jake, brave soul that he is, decided to come with me. I guess it was a last minute, our APs are expiring, let’s spend as much time as we can in the parks-induced psychosis. He HATES the heat. After we dropped our goods at the room, we head out. A EPCOT bus was waiting. We took it as a good omen. The ride was short. We revelled in being guest without bags!! Soon we were walking under Spaceship Earth (Line was too long to stop) and walking into the Art of Disney store. They had a MK print, but no EPCOT. There was a holiday EPCOT version available. There are holiday versions, too? This could get out of hand.
Our first conquest.

DSCF1099Small.jpg

I decided to get the MK one just in case I couldn’t find it later and we were off to the hottest place in WDW, AK. Don’t’ get me wrong, I love AK, but it is darn hot!! The bus came quickly again and this time only Jake got to be a guest without bags. At the AK shop, they had several versions of the park and one of Animal Kingdom Lodge. He does the resorts too! Oh, this is definitely going to get out of hand!!

My AK print.

DSCF1101Small.jpg

At this point, Jake and I are feeling good, three different park prints under our belt and a good chance to get EPCOT at MK later that night. In our euphoria, we forgot about our rotten AK bus luck. Never, anywhere that we have stayed, have we ever gotten back in a timely manner from the Animal Kingdom park. And it’s never just too few buses or something like that. It’s usually something dramatic like flat tires or wrecks blocking the interstate. Today was no exception. When we got to our bus stop to wait, there were already a ton of people there and they were not happy people. We waited and grumbled together.

Then all of the sudden, this man jumps off a bus in midturn, looks right at us, and screams, “Where the H—L have you been?!?!”

I almost wet myself. TMI!

Jake is ready to bolt for the tree line.

Everyone at the bus stop is silent and staring at this man as he begins to run toward us.
I wasn’t sure what to do. Should I run? Dive onto Jake and shield him with my body?

The man pushed past us and grabbed these two preteen boys. He proceeds to tell them in words I am not able to utter here, that he is not too pleased with their behavior. It seems they had their own tickets and had decided to leave the park they were in with their parents and come over to AK without informing anyone!! His parents and other CMs were on buses cruising the parking lots looking for them while other CMs searched the parks. The mother was hysterical and his father was still screaming when our bus arrived and we were headed back to Pop Century. Now while some may view this sort of family drama in a negative light, I look at it as free entertainment. Streetmosphere ain’t got nothing on this! Besides, from what Lynn said…she was able to score more than enough points in the melt-down count-down game on this one incident to win the entire trip!!!

One thing remains true. A trip home from AK for us is never dull.

Let us know if you ever come back. We are only 2 hours away!! We are hoping to go down in the fall for a day. It is so beautiful!! It's where we got engaged and where we spent our honeymoon.

Yay! 3 prints down...1 to go! Did ya get it, did ya get it! :rotfl2: Can't wait to find out!
