Beginning the Trip arbitration Legoland

Looking for some advice...

We (myself, DH, DS7, DS4 ad DD 2) have recently booked our next trip down to WDW for 8 nights in August 2017. Our two sons are Lego fanatics, so a visit to Legoland is a must. We are planning to stay at the Legoland Hotel for one night prior to coming to WDW and we are trying to figure out the best way to get from the airport to Legoland, then from Legoland to BWV.

The only two options I can really think of is either private transfer, or renting a car. They both sound relatively simple, but I have to say I did experience some sticker shock. A car rental, from what I am seeing would be over $300 (pickup at MCO and drop off at Dolphin). And the private transfer is even higher. Am I missing something or is this really what this will cost? Am I better off picking up at MCO and dropping off at MCO, then taking DME to BWV? What do you think is our best option? My husband is dreading bringing down booster/car seats. I wish Legoland offered transfers from the airport like Disney's Magical's Express!

I was very intrigued by the word arbitration!!! hahahha

My dad has returned a car at MCO and used the DME to get back to property. I don't know if they will give you the official OK on this before you're there, others would have to chime in, because that's not what it's officially used for. But I think if you can find a much better rate doing it that way, that you could give it a shot. Worst comes to worst would the difference be worse than getting a cab if they ABSOLUTELY won't do it for you day of?

We are going to be in Orlando for a few days next month to do Legoland and a few other things and my friend, who is a Disney travel agent, told us to rent the car and return it back to the airport and take the DME to our resort. She had us pick out a flight that was landing around the time we would return the car and we gave them that flight info for the DME. Our car rental for 4 days was under $75 when we did it this way. If we returned elsewhere, it was around $300.

It's officially used for transportation between MCO and Disney resorts. It doesn't matter how you get to MCO before using DME nor how you leave MCO after using DME.

OP, check for other places to return the car, the Car Care Center will handle National/Alamo. Other companies are just off property. Or you can return the car to MCO and use DME to get to the resort.

Thanks! I didn't realize that, they always seem to want a reservation that always seems to require a flight, and they made it sound to my dad like they were making an exception. I think giving a fake flight detail seemed like a clever workaround.

August 2017 is waaaay too far out to assume that the price you're seeing will be the price closer in.

I would drive for your trip, and I would rent a car in a way that works best, and I would check and check and check as the year goes on to modify the reservation as needed.

Just don't book anything that cannot be modified or cancelled.
