Before you buy your resale.....

I still don't get what you mean by Florida locals using up all the weekends - you mean just like "get-aways" I'm assumign right?

Either way, I will never like the weekend points issue, and I dont think Im alone.........
DVC doesn't want members to use DVC routinely for long weekends leaving the weekdays unused. What they should do is to have the points for each day so that the demand for that day is the same as every other day of the year for that size unit. That will mean weekends must always be higher, the question is what is the most reasonable formula. We don't have the info to answer that other than it appears that weekends are more available and less used by members than weekdays at the present time. If this is the case on an ongoing basis, DVC SHOULD rebalance the points to compensate. We must leave it up to them and trust them to do the right thing. We actually benefit from the current system as we go Sunday to Friday and if they rebalance, it would hurt us.

Boy oh boy, first we had the only "real and true DVC resort" compared to the "not real and true DVC resorts" and now we have "real DVC members" as compared to "not real DVC members"!!! When will it all end???? DVC sure seems to consider all our money "real and true" whether we are at a real or not real DVC resort or are a real or not real DVC member!!! LOL!!:)

I don't believe any of us feel that there are any DVCers that are less "real" than the rest of us!

The DVC resort issue is another story..... ;) ;) nudge nudge

Excellent post, Dean. We go to BWV Sat to Fri so we only spend 6 nights and one weekend night. It really saves the points.

Autumngirl,

If you're calling Member Services, I think you're calling the wrong people. They make reservations and that's about it. You should call your DVC guide. It's their job to help you with your membership (and sell you more points). I think Member Services will know your guide's name and number.

Good luck!

IMHO, resale buyers should be required to pay for the reasonable cost of the documents from DVD for a resort that is not being actively marketed. Otherwise, all of our dues costs go up (albeit a small amount) to support additional document copies for resales. It should be the seller's responsibility to provide those documents at closing, the buyer's responsibility to ask for them, and DVD's responsibility to provide the documents at cost as a last resort (actually, this policy could also apply to additional copies for anyone requesting them other than as a prospective buyer).

We've been DVC members for several years via 2 resales. OK, so we didn't get a free "tote" bag:rolleyes: :jester:  :jester:  :jester: .........for the several thousand dollars which we saved by purchasing via resale, we sprung the $14.95 for a nice canvas bag:smooth: :smooth: :smooth: ........

We have two contracts one form Disney one from reasle. Both at BWV.

Each seem to get the same level of support form DVC. The guide who sold us the contact from Disney was not very good - well he stank. So we got a new guide. When we need to deal with DVC she is very nice and very helpful.

I would call DVC sales today and get a guide - I agree that is where to go for documentation, I bet MS can't get documentation for people who bought via Mickey either.

IMHO, resale buyers should be required to pay for the reasonable cost of the documents from DVD for a resort that is not being actively marketed. ...

On the other hand one of the nice things about DVC is there is a srtong secondary market for "Used" memberships. Being easily convertible to cash helps keep the value of all memberships up.

By treating resale buyers as any other member Disney helps maintain the value of DVC as a member's asset. IHMO the token amount spent on supplying documents pales compared with the value of maintainging the member's asset market price.
