Hi all--

We are sailing on the July 27th Magic and am wondering if Disney has a beer mug program like the soda program I have read about on the boards?

If so, does anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks for your help!:jester:

Hi Tiggerfan! Welcome to the DIS! Yes, they do have a beer program. I think it is a plastic mug for like $15, with refills about $3. Some one help me out here! I am not 100% sure about the prices!
:D

The good thing about the mugs are that they hold more beer for the same price as a single one. I think it's about 1 1/2 of a regular priced draft.

The previous poster is correct. However they are not plastic mugs but actual glass beer mugs. Nice ones too! You of course get to keep it and take it home. As I type this, I am enjoying a frosty one in my DCL mug!! :)

Whenever you give your mug to the bartender for refill, they don't actually refill yours, but they give you a new mug each time, so it's frosty cold! Make sure you end up with the design you want to take home - they have both Disney Cruise Line logos and ESPN logos. I believe it was $15 for the first one, then $3.25 to refill each time.

Cheers!!!:jester:

Ok- just one more question--

Since my DH can be considered a beer snob at times, please tell me you have a bit of a selection and not just BUD or Miller Lite!

Looking forward to having my own frosty mug in five weeks!

I think the beer mugs are a great deal (I certainly got my money's worth out of mine on my cruise this past April).

However, the draft beer selection is quite limited. Actually, the beer selection in general is quite limited. I cannot recall any specialty beers on our Magic cruise. Heiniken was the most exotic draft I can recall, and maybe Corona in bottles.

Fortunately, although I love to try all styles of beer... I can live with Bud!

Cheers!

Is the trading in of used mugs for new, cold mugs a new thing. Last May they would take my mug, rinse it out and then fill it with ice for a minute or two, empty the ice and refill the mug with brew.
I like the idea of swapping my mug for a cold one.
If you are desireing more information got to the link below.

From "Dave From Marietta"s web site:

I believe that "mug swapping" only takes place at the ESPN bar - at least that's the only place I've ever heard of it taking place, and they certainly didn't swap my mug when I used it anyplace else.

The price of the beer is the same regardless of whether you have a mug or not - the difference is that the mug holds 20oz, while a typical plastic beer glass is 16. So it's really a buy 4, get one free kindof deal.
