Beer mugs and other drinky drinky tips

One thing we saw new after Covid was Happy Hours at certain bars. They will be noted in the Navigator App and the bartenders will tell you about them. You may have to ask but in chatting with some we found they would bring it up.
Happy hour at Signals was still happening when we cruised on the Magic last month.

We took advantage of the happy hours. The hours are listed in the navigator, all bars had them. 35% off and the bartenders where pretty good at holding your charges until happy hour started. Overall we thought drink prices were very reasonable

So it sounds like there is no reason for me to bring my beer token

You can also bring on beer/wine when you get back on at the port. As long as you are still within guidelines you can bring it on.
Thank you for this. The FAQs make it seem like beer and wine brought on at ports would be impounded until disembarkation.

If you bring on alcohol they will hold it for you but on my last cruise i verified that I could carry on wine within the limits.

Day, get your drink in the Adults Only area of the ship. The drink size is significantly larger than you will get in any of the MDRs, or any of the clubs.
Great tip. Do you think the drinks actually have more alcohol or just more mixer?

Bummer about the passport in Skyline. We were on Fantasy December 2021, and we went through 2 passports. We find the Passport, the beer mugs, and DCL's carry on in each port's policy to make drinking pretty reasonable

I don't think it is any stronger, but none of them are very strong. They always seem more 'fun' than 'potent'. We just got off the Hawaii -> Vancouver and there were a couple of Hawaiian themed drinks that seemed a little stronger, but I'm about 90% sure that it was because the bar staff was less familiar with them and they were made at 'full strength'. I got a very strong Blue Hawaiian at the Cove Bar, but before he made it he told me he'd have to look up the recipe. That one was both fun and potent... The Mai Tai was the DotD on our last full day and that one seemed more strong than the others.

Alaska had mulled wine available and if you bought the souvenir mug you got refills for $6 - same price as a regular glass but MUCH bigger in my experience.

We're leaving Friday for our first cruise in 6 years. Please refresh my memory, are these the re-usable beer mugs we can pack and bring back on board? And are these hurricane glasses used in the same type of program? Should I pack them as well?

Thanks!tempImage1ECWxf.jpgtempImage151cc1.jpg

Yes, those are the mugs. I believe they have a different glass for the drink of the day now, but I'm not sure, I actually never got a drink of the day on my cruise last month.

But is there any reason for me to pack and bring the drink of the day glasses with us? Is there a savings on the ship similar to the draft beer program?

No - there isn't. The drink of the day glass is just a souvenir that doesn't have any discounts associated with it. Save the space in your luggage!

**Technically** the beer tokens aren't supposed to carry over between cruises, but that has never been enforced. I was talking to someone onboard back in January and they said they had heard from a CM that the beer token was going to be added to the Navigator app at some point and the physical token phased out. I've carried a token for years (already have 3 mugs) and that would be a bummer for sure.

Thank you for the response, all 5 of us just passed our Covid tests this morning and are very excited to leave on Saturday!

I just keep the beer mug after my last drink and pack in checked bag. Next time I’m on board, use it just like before. For sure now as I bet they will digitize the token soon.

Anyone know if they are serving any Heavy Seas or cigar city beers on the fantasy?

When we got off the Dream a few weeks ago (6/3 Sailing) They were doing some form of happy hour at least once a day in each of the bars on Deck 4. When we were on the Magic this past November, basically every bar including the pool bars had happy hour at one point or another each day. Sometimes twice a day! They were always listed in the navigator app, we made very good use of the discounts. Some were a few dollars off all the way up to 50% off. Usually the 30-50% off were the later times. The offerings varied based on the bar.

Important: The bartenders have been great about this, you must close your tab prior to the end of happy hour to get the discounted prices so don't forget!
