Im thinking of getting this for my Dad and husband, anyone do this?? Is it worth it??

I guess it depends if you are purchasing it for the 'savings' or not.

If you think they would use the glasses at home or like them as a souvenir then go for it. We wanted the glass for our bar so we were going to get it either way, the discount on beer was just a nice bonus.

If you are purchasing it just for the savings, it seems like you would have to drink a lot of beer to make it even. We did some rough math while we were on the ship and figured you'd have to have 10 glasses of beer in the glass to break even.

We love the mug though, and are so happy to see it on our bar and think of the great time we had. So it was definitely worth it for us even if it wasn't a savings (I think dh only drank like 6 beers in it on board)

The beer mug holds 22 ounces of draft beer. You buy the mug for I think $15.00. You pay the cost of what it cost someone to buy one beer and you get a beer and a half with the mug. You can bring on any cruise with disney and use it all the time.

The other thing to consider is that you can bring it back for other cruises. That changes the math and makes it seem more worth it. I agree that it was fun and worth it.

Another tip I picked up on this board is that if you pre-order for the beer mug it will be in your room and you wont be able to get it until an hour or two after you board. If your going to want a beer as soon as you board or with lunch you should just buy it at the bar after you board.

My dad loves his. When you are done with the beer, exchange it back for a token (essentially a business card) so that you don't have to carry the mug around. Next time you buy a beer, present the token and they give you a fresh mug w/beer. When you get off the ship, either bring your mug with you or if you don't want to carry it, bring a token so that on your next cruise you get a new mug.

My dad opted to bring his mug home. He said the token thing was cool b/c if he would have had to carry the mug around the ship he wouldn't have bought as many beers.

BTW, I also ordered it for him ahead of time and he said it was already in his stateroom after check in, so YMMV.

Does anyone know if the mug can be purchased a any time during the cruise? Or is it only available on the first day?

TIA! :)

Are you able to keep the beer mug?

Yes, you keep it. The mugs are very heavy glass so the bars use a token system. Once you buy the first mug and once you finish the beer, you can leave the glass mug and they will give you a token card. Once you are ready for another beer you simply hand the bar tender the token and pay for the refills and your back in business. On the last day you simply keep the mug.

I think they were $14.95. After initial purchase you get a 22 oz refill for the price of 16 oz beer.

Can I have my packpack and a small bag for beer to carry on the ship (I'm a man) so can I have 2 bags?:cool1: I know my DW can have a bag and a purse

The mug was great for me... I bought it right after boarding and started using it right away. The token (card) was really nice, not having to carry around the mug all over the ship.

A normal beer is supposedly 16 ounces, but is more like 14-15. The mug is supposed to be 22 oz, but the pour is more like 20 usually. You get the mug filled up at the 16 oz beer price. So the match works out to be about 4 beers for the price of 3.

4 15 oz beers = 60 oz
3 20 oz beers = 60 oz

So figuring $5/beer, which is on the low end on the ship, you'll pay for the mug after 9 beers or so. After that it's all savings, and you get to keep the mug.

I'm a 5-7 beers a day kinda guy when I travel, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Can you fill the mugs with any beer on the ship or only specific beers? Also, can you fill them anywhere that serves beer or only specific places?

If I remember correctly from last week it was any draught beer. Different bars had different beers. There was Bud Lite, Long Board, and Amberboch to name a few. I am sure there were others.
