We are planning our first moderate trip in a few weeks, we made POR reservations after reading comments on here. We're so excited. Do you have any comments, suggestions on the hotel before we go? I think it's great that so many people have a different moderate favorite, hoping we're staying at our new favorite :) It's just so hard to choose when you've never even seen them!

I'd never seen it before my husband and I took our honeymoon trip there a month ago... but we LOVED it!!! I'm sure you will too. We didn't spend a ton of time there (spent most days at the park all day long) but really enjoyed the scenic walk to our room. The landscaping was amazing!! We also ate at Boatwright's one morning. It was pretty good... I'm not much of a breakfast person though, so I'm not the greatest critic. We took the boat to DTD one day and really enjoyed the ride. I'm sure you'll have a great time!!

I love POR! It is my new favorite resort. My suggestions are to book a room in the mansions, take the boat ride to Downtown Disney, take the carriage ride if it's not raining, stroll around the gardens and overall havea good time. Also, you probably want to eat at Boatwrights. Hope you have a good time.

Thank you, I love hearing good things about the place we're staying :) We are planning to stay at the mansion, I have a family of 5 and my Mom is going, so we reserved two rooms. How is the bus shuttle to magic kingdom (that's our favorite park and we plan to spend two days there), is there a long wait, many stops, etc? We aren't in our room much either, but this time we plan to take a day off from parks and just hang out to relax.

We just returned last week and loved it!

We stayed in the Mansions in Acadia House. Our room was 8018 and this was on the first floor. It was a very clean room, and pretty close to the North Bus stop. It was so nice to walk across the bridge to get my morning coffee, not a long walk at all.
It was a little cold for me to swim but the pool looked very nice.

We didn't wait very long at all for any of the buses, but they were crowded at times. The crowds were heavier than I expected, but they did have some kind of cheerleading event down there that week.

We ate at Boatwrights one night for a late dinner and the food was good. They have really good french onion soup.

I am sure you will love POR. We did!

Have a great time!
Linda

Hi,
our family of five just returned from Florida today. we stayed at POR Feb 11th to the 15th. It's a beautiful resort. We spent all day Saturday enjoying POR. We slept in, had our daughter's hair wrapped, rented a surrey bike, played on the playground, ate pizza by the pool, swam all afternoon, took the boat to Downtown Disney and back, shopped at Fulton's and then had supper at Boatwrights. What a great day!

Okay, now I"m really excited and encouraged. Thanks for all of your feedback. I'm glad to know we can spend a relaxed day without a theme park, we've never done that before, we're usually maniacs opening and closing the parks every day. I just can't wait! I"ve heard good things about the piano player, did anyone hear him while there?

I pretty much agree with all of the above. I stayed here in Nov. '03 and had a wonderful vacation. I stayed in Magnolia Terrace which was for the most part very serene and peaceful. The grounds are beautiful and this mansion is just a short walk away from the main buildings. Ol Man Isle is a great place to swim at night, cute nice hot tub and you can see some of the fireworks going off during Illuminations. The boat ride to DTD is very relaxing and informative. I bought the mug and used it a lot while I was there. I ate in Boatwrights a few times and can say that everything I tried was wonderful. I rented a bike one day and rode around the resort. Bus service was for the most part pretty good with two exceptions (when I took the bus from the stop closer to my room the busses did run a bit late). I really don't have anything bad to say about the resort. Even as I passed people on the walkways everyone greeted you in some nice way. I do think that you will enjoy your trip.

If you are around in the evening, you should definitly check out Pianoman Bob Jackson in the lounge off the lobby!!! He is a very entertaining piano player who gets everyone involved in sing-a-longs and such. His act is very family oriented. He loves to get the kids up on stage to do little skits. He is there Wed-Sat and it is great~

I was wondering if the piano lounge was okay for kids, glad to hear it is. I've heard great things about Bob jackson, my family will love this. This trip we actually plan to spend an evening at the hotel, usually we close down the parks every day and collapse into bed :)
