Been there, loved it, worried that it won't be great this time. Anyone else?

My DH and I have been to WDW 4 times since we got married (including our honeymoon and 10 year anniversary). We LOVE it there, are SO sad when we come home, and can't wait to go back! We haven't been in 3 1/2 years - only because we didn't have the cash flow. We leave 4 weeks from yesterday for a nice long trip! 3 Days where I'll be at a conference and staying at CSR, and then 9 nights staying at the Pop with Park Hoppers, WPF&M, and Free Dining. The works!! We've spent so much time talking, planning, remembering, dreaming, obsessing......that I'm starting to be concerned that it won't meet all of our expectations. I KNOW better, but still I'm feeling a little stressed about it.

I know, call me crazy!

Here are some of the thoughts going through my head:

It is going to be hotter than the face of the sun. The kids will complain and be miserable because it will be hot. (We've been in August twice, and last time I said I would NEVER take the kids in August. Then the conference came along, and what a GREAT excuse to go back!)

9 Nights is a long time. What if we get tired of it. :confused3 (I know, ridiculous. My DH will wonder what is wrong with me if he reads this! :lmao:)

What if it just isn't magical for us this time?
What if the lines are long, the crowds are thick, and the boys can't see the fireworks because all of the tall people are in front of them with kids on their shoulders?

Oh my, what's wrong with me?
Thanks for letting me vent. Now go ahead and tell me I'm crazy and make me feel better! :cool1:

Pre-trip jitters.

But going in that heat will require planning. Early in/early out and return in the evening, plenty of water, cooling towels (frog toggs), etc.

We were there in June and despite the heat and crowds, it was still magical. And, the kids' view of the fireworks was blocked by the bridge sculpture to Tomorrowland, but we did see Tink close up at the end of the show. Our parade views were also partially blocked but Disney is not dumb. Most of those floats are huge and everyone can see enough to feel the excitement.

You'll have a blast, stop overthinking things.

Thanks for your encouragement. We've never been to a rope drop, but we plan to do that this time. Early into the parks on several days, and then water parks and/or naps in the afternoons, and then back to the parks at night. I swear I could go to the Magic Kingdom every night for the parade and fireworks and never get tired of it.

Good point about the huge floats. And the fireworks are pretty high up in the sky!

More reality checks welcome!

I always worry that "this will be my last visit for a long time" (worrying about finances)! I do, occassionally, have a "down day" (someone is rude to a family member; DGD's (or DH :rotfl2:) wake up "on the wrong side of the bed" but then something magical happens and I forget my :sad2: mood. It's the HAPPY PLACE! Do understand your doubts. We've been going in September and am a little concerned about the heat for our August trip (despite being from Texas, I don't handle the heat well!) but just keep plenty of water on hand and spend lots of time in air-conditioned areas. Plus ... mid afternoon breaks at your resort will be a must. Parks are open late and our plans are to be one of the last guests to exit!!!:rotfl: Boat rides are always cooling ... visit one of the resorts on Bay Lake and don't forget the swimming pools! Nine days gives you plenty of time to take it easy; spread out your park visits; enjoy Downtown Disney (the hot air balloon ride is GREAT!); a water park; visit other resorts or just spend a day doing nothing! The Disney Magic will be there...it always is!:cheer2::tink:

Hi Honey You Are CRAZY:lmao:

Seriously though I think you are just over thinking this trip. I know it has been a long time since we were there but we will have a blast!!!:cool1:

Remember the 1st time we went with the kids Jimmy and Bobby were terrified of Fireworks but we still found a way to see them and really enjoy them even if it was from the window of Cosmic Rays.

All I can say is close your eye's and picture this we are in the MK and it is just a minute before 9PM on Main Street just to the side of Casey's. We are enjoying some Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bars when suddenly the lights go out and the Dramatic Theme from wishes begins to swell all around us and then suddenly BOOM there goes the 1st firework. Now after having gone through this exercise do you honestly think it could be a bad trip?:rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

If that exercise doesn't convince you just start reading the 1000's of threads on this board! I have read many different area's with many different opinions but no thread that says I have done it all no need to go back.

Just keep doing what you are doing and don't let the doubt's, fears and Pre Trip Jitters get in the way of doing what you enjoy doing most which is planning a great trip for us.

Love You!

I am a little worried about this happening for us. We went 2 years ago and it was WONDERFUL! I couldn't ask for a better vacation. We had such a blast!! We still talk about it and we are all excited to go again- I just hope we all have a great time. We are going for longer, styaing at a nicer place and I hope there is magic in the air! I know that if I beleive it, it will be!

I can't imagine how it won't be even more wonderful for us (your group and ours) to have just as great of a time this time too! But I'm glad you piped in so I know I'm not the only "crazy" out there!! :rotfl:

Yes its normal i feel the same way. Last year was our first trip as a family and had to beg DH to go for what was going to be our ONLY trip. As it turned out we had the greatest time, loved the resort, loved free dining, and just all around great experience. I even talking my husband into going again this year. Originally everyone was going to go but this year my older daugther wont be joining us (she has a scholarship summer program) and im very sad but happy for her. I too am worried it wont be as good even though we are staying somewhere different. Im thinking maybe this time around to do waterparks as something difference, go to downtown disney, and eat in the places i didnt get to last year so maybe it will be a much more different experience. I will still miss my daughter and i know my little one gets upset when i brought up her not going, i just hope we can all have a good time with just the 4 of us this time.
