Beef Stroganoff???

Can you make it with ground beef or is that wierd?? I am thinking it's wierd!! I could cut up a piece of steak though right?? I was going to make steak but decided that I don't really want that so now I think beef stroganoff sounds good, I wonder if I have egg noodles!

Hamburger Stroganoff
1 pound ground beef or turkey
1 tbs. butter or oil
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can cream soup (mushroom or chicken)
1/2 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup sour cream, optional
Heat the oil or butter and sauté the onion and garlic until soft. Add the meat and brown, then drain of any extra fat.
Add the soup, water, salt and pepper and heat through.
Remove from the heat and stir in the sour cream if you're using it.
Serve over rice or egg noodles.

I always use ground beef. I use the McCormick mix - just add ground beef and sour cream. It's very easy!

I prefer it with hamburger. My recipe uses beef broth and sour cream. I'll post it if you want.

I've had it with the cut up beef and with ground beef and it is MUCH MUCH better with cut up beef. I actually thought it was really weird with ground beef. But that's just me...

I've never had it WITHOUT ground beef. I love the ground beef. Yummy!

I made stroganoff with ground beef a couple months ago and DH asked what happened to the swedish meatballs. He thought they'd dissolved in the cream sauce. I like it with ground beef.

I have never heard of Beef Stroganoff being made with ground meat, normally good steak.

I have decided I am going to make it with sirlion steak cut up to strips!!! Maybe someday I'll try it with the ground beef!!

Yummy ... now to go clean the kitchen so I have a place to cook ...

Here's my recipe for Beef Stroganoff

1 lb of ground beef
1 package Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff
water

It's good, and really easy.

Ok, it's simmering!!! I used strips of sirloin.

Smells good. I stink at using recipes and I should have followed it more carefully this time but I think it will be good.

I browned the beef with salt and pepper, in a little butter. Then I moved the steak to the side and sauteed up some chopped onions and mushrooms. Moved that to the side and added flour. Then I added 2.5 cans of low sodium beef broth and a smidge of mustard. I added so much broth b/c the mustard was too strong (opps). Sprinkled a little garlic powder and onion powder. Tasted it and thought it was too bland especially since I'll add the sour cream at the end so I added 3/4 of a beef bullion cube to it. Now I think it will be good ... we shall see!!!
