Ummmm, well I just have this question ,, because I
never reallly gave it much thought untill someone posed
the question about bedwetting and another poster got
assigned a room with a bed that had been peed on and was
still well "peed" on and Wet ,,,,,,,,, eeewwww

What does housekeeping do if they come in and there are
wet sheets (with urine) , do they just change em and
leave the mattress wet underneith ? do they call and order
up a new mattress ? ,,

I mean do they have a way to sanitize these matress's before
the next guest or what ,,

Anyone know this ?

I would be furious if I got a room with a wet mattress. :furious: I have wondered this before. I would raise such a fuss if I laid down in bed and the mattress was wet.

My guess would be they flip the mattress till a new one is available which may be longer than you think.

Sometimes a wet mattress isn't because someone peed on it. They could have come in from the pool and either sat on the bed or put the wet bathing suit on the bed for a while. DS has done this before and after we realized what had happened, there was a wet spot on the mattress.

WET MATTRESSES -

Um I think someone on that thread posted a mattress was 'wet' at ASmo and when he reported to management, and they wouldnt give him a new room....that seemed a little far fetched to me.... :guilty:

I cannot believe that ...sounds like some urban legend gone wrong.

If I had a wet mattress...we would DEFINITELY be changing rooms.

Thanks for all these great ideas you just put in my head.....I am going to therapy now  !They must have some kind of indrustral strength cleaner that they spray on it..right :confused3 ?!

I don't know about mattresses, but my daughter got sick on the carpet at a non WDW hotel once. I cleaned it up as much as I could (towels, soap and water, spray). I then covered the spot with a couple of towels so the housekeeping would know where to clean. I told the front desk and she said that she would tell housekeeping so they could get their "special" cleanser and desanitizing stuff.

It makes me not want to walk on the carpet without shoes anymore! I know people who have had their kids sick in a hotel room - and the child did not make it to the bathroon - and never told the hotel. Yuck...

I've always wondered about this also. I would *think* that they would have a certain kind of mattress with a built-in scotchguard or something???? Or a vinyl mattress cover?

I would imagine with the sheer volume of people in those rooms they would have some kind of precaution but I guess you never know?

I've been to some hotels where they have a zip-around cover on the mattress.

Or it be an isolated incident. Let us hope very isolated!

I am sure Mousekeeping has ways of cleaning and /or replacing mattresses
when something like that happens.

Sometimes rooms are pulled from use for a day or two while doing extensive cleaning.

That is one reason guests are not told their room numbers until the room is ready.

I was at a hotel once that someone had wet the bed. It was disgusting. I was given a new room right away. The reason was because they had no extra mattresses and didn't want to drag one from one room to another. There would be no way I'd stay in that room.

I'm sure Mousekeeping has a special sanitizer they use for wet mattresses. Maybe they clean it, then flip it over. Many hotels also use vinyl/plastic mattress covers too. I've never checked to see if Disney hotels use these - but it's possible.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've stayed in hotels many, many times and have never gotten sick from a wet mattress. Just enjoy your vacation, and don't stress about things that will probably never happen! :goodvibes

EWWWWWW!!!!

I know that puke happens, but I'm a bit of a germophob, so none of us will be on the carpet barefoot. We will all be wearing flip flops. The thought of the carpet is just gross.

But if I ever got a wet mattress they would be getting me a new room or I would be on the phone to the county health department immediately. The idea of me, DH or one of my kids sleeping on someone elses kids wet urine is just vile.

I know that I am lucky that my kids are not bed wetters and yes there was a time when DD6 was having seizures in her sleep (which we didn't know she was having) and wet her bed twice, but after it happened the 2nd time in a week, I had her in the Dr.'s office trying to find out what the issue was, because I knew something was wrong.

For all those "urban legend" people...

First, I resent the implication that I would post this as some sort of way to stir up trouble. Anyone in their right minds should be outraged at staying in a room with a wet urine bed, and I think all these odd defenses of Disney are funny in a sad way. I love WDW and am the first to stand up for them. I spend 95% of my vacation dollars on their property. But strange urine in one's hotel bedroom is 100% indefensible. It is something that should never, ever happen, and when it does happen, steps should be taken to correct it, which was not the case.

I am the one who posted about the wet mattress. It happened to my brother, SIL, and 3 year old niece on their trip last year to WDW. They were staying at All Star Sports.

The mattress was not wet with a wet bathing suit. It was wet with urine. My brother checked it out. He was not lying; had no reason to lie, and was, in fact, extremely grossed out and unhappy about this.

He walked immediately to the front desk and asked to speak with a manager there. He waited for 15 minutes before being told that no managers were available to speak with him & he should try again the next day in the afternoon (they gave him a time, which, unfortunately, I can't remember). Since the manager wouldn't see him until the next day, he asked could someone at least please change their room. They said there were no rooms available for him to transfer to. He then asked for Mousekeeping to please change the bedding. Mousekeeping still had not come by the next afternoon.

He then went to the front desk, at the appointed time, and waited for over an hour before being told that the managers were all in a meeting that was running over time, and he should come back later. At this point, he was frustrated almost to the point of tears, and he called me, because he thinks of me & DH as his Disney experts.

I immediately called the All Star Sports resort, explained to the woman who answered what was going on, and told her that I was trying to help my brother resolve this, because he had already wasted enough of his extremely expensive park time trying to fix a problem that should never have existed in the first place. They never put me on the phone with a manager, either, but they did send Mousekeeping to at least change the bedding (my brother called me when they got in from dinner that evening). They also sent him a free refrigerator (?) which amused my brother, since what he'd really wanted was a room that was, at least to all appearances, urine-free.

The change of bedding helped, but they did not sleep on that mattress for the rest of the trip. The urine spot was there when they arrived at the hotel. They got to the room, and my niece was ready for her nap, so they turned down the sheets and got a very unpleasant surprise.

I thought this was horrible, for several reasons.
1. As I've already pointed out, and despite what All Star fans might say, a big, wet urine spot on the bed is disgusting and unsanitary.
2. This was my brother's first trip to WDW with his family. He & SIL had been as attendants in my wedding, but they didn't have much time off then, so didn't really get to go to the parks. This was my 3 year old niece's first ever WDW trip.
3. The resort should have taken immediate steps to solve the problem. There are some people who would use this to get a refund or a resort upgrade. My brother isn't one of those people. He is very laid back & easy going, and he just wanted a clean room. I believe he should have gotten that.
He was never, ever contacted by a manager at All Star Sports, not even for an apology. I can only imagine that this is perceived by their management as being not a big deal, though to us, it was disgusting.
4. My brother & SIL aren't the wealthiest people. They are both in school still, and are doing their best to work, take classes, and raise my niece. They work harder than anyone else I know, and they truly deserved a nice vacation. So what if they chose a value resort instead of a deluxe resort? That still doesn't excuse the management of All Star Sports, no matter what excuses might be invented for them.

Bottom line, my brother, SIL, and 3 year old niece were never given a clean room, never given an apology, spent 2 wasted trips waiting around for a manager, and had to wait days before Mousekeeping even bothered to change the bedding.

Very, very poor...

What do they do with the wet mattresses?

Why they move them to the rooms with the bedbugs, of course!

The irony is that perhaps no business does a better job at entertaining & keeping its guests happy than Disney... but when it comes to consumer-service related issues, Disney outright sucks. I cringe when I read postings on these fourms like "I found some dog poop on my Fort Wilderness campsite, complained to management & was immediately upgraded to Walt Disney's apartment in Cinderella's Castle... I LOVE YOU DISNEY!" (OK, a big exaggeration but really not any more exaggerated than some of the claims here.) The word "compensation," even in situations when justified, isn't among the Mouse's vocabulary. And don't even start with the word "refund..."

Walgreens sells a kit, I think it is called "Urine Gone". It has a small hand held blacklight you can use to search for 'fluids'. (Just like CSI!!! :rotfl2: ) I have never used one in a hotel room, but have seen those news stories where some reporter shows us what we've been missing. When we travel without our RV I just flip the bed spread down, and hope for the best. Just fight the urge to :rotfl2: on the hotel floor :rolleyes1
