I guess we are not the norm here but we are not freaked out by this stuff at all. I think about it a little but really I just don't think that it will get me sick (granted I don't have any kids). someone posted that they don't even sit on the bedspreads...do you go to the movies? Do you sit in those chairs because I bet those are NEVER cleaned. I guess my point is that sometimes you stay healthy by having a bit of germs in your life. Just my two cents.
I'll sit on the bedspread and anywhere else in my "street" clothes. But after I shower and am in "clean" clothes like my PJ's I, personally, expect to sit on something just as clean.
Of course, if it is clean street clothes that I expect to go out in eventually, I will sit on the sofas, etc. in the room. But if I am in my PJ's already, I have been known to spread a towel on the sofa before I sit down...

It's not so much as microscopic germs or bacteria - I'm fine with those. It's someone else's dirt, body fluids (snot), etc. that I prefer not on me after I shower and am suppose to be clean for the night...
