Bedbugs at Sheraton Vistana??

Why Freak out ... relax ..... that was June... we are nearly into October.

The " Bed Bug " at Vistana will have been dealt with long ago & " Bed Bugs " exterminated

OR the Vistana will not be there ( Closed down )

Any reports of bed bugs freak me out as well. If you have an upcoming stay planned, you could always call - speak to management - & find out the details of the situation. More than likely, they will be happy to share the information with you that the bed bugs have been exterminated. As an aside, I have an upcoming Florida beach vacation & saw that my hotel also had bed bugs reported. I immediately called, spoke to management, & they sent me their extermination report. I feel so much better now!

Glad I’m not the only one and you understand my dilemma LOL A few years ago my sister and I made a trip to Gatlinburg and before we booked the room she asked to see the room to decide if we would stay. Good thing because we looked at the bed and yep, she found remnants of bedbugs! We said “no thank you” and went somewhere else. She was in Vegas a few years ago and got bit by them and has been scared ever since. If she sees that online report this trip might be done before it even starts :crazy2:

First, be sure you are checking the correct Vistana. Villages has apparently had a couple of reports, none at Resort. Any large hotel property may get these from time-to-time, and both the Vistana resorts are quite large. It is the response to the problem that really matters, and you expect large high-end chains like Sheraton to take bed bugs very seriously. I expect that you will be fine. Note that even some of the Disney properties have reports on this site.

All kinds of bugs happen in Florida, know how to look for them. I check at every hotel room I sleep in, and won't put my bags down in the room until I know it's safe. If you find an issue, get moved far away from the affected room and check again, or just move to a different hotel if you are not satisfied with the response.

I will concur with bankr63. This current thread over on the Disney resorts board is a good reminder that no property or hotel chain is immune:

OP, the thought of them grosses me out too.

This was the thread that I started. Just make sure you check your beds really good. Strip off all sheets and look behind the headboard. Put your suitcase in the bathtub and not on the floor until you make sure everything is ok.
