I hope someone can help. DH wants to do a Bed and Breakfast next year for our anniversary. He doesn't want to rush to go anywhere, he doesn't want to sight see, he just wants to rest and do nothing, so a bed and breakfast seems the way to go.

Here's my question and it may be a silly one, does what you pay for the room include your breakfast meals for as long as you stay?(hence the name bed AND breakfast maybe??? :rolleyes: ) From what I've read on some websites it seems that way, but for any of you who have done one, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Denise :wave: :wave:

We've stayed at a few and their breakfast policies do vary. Some will include a cooked breakfast each morning while others may only have a self-serve continental breakfast available (and they aren't always good). You SHOULD get something each morning but I wouldn't hesitate to ask before hand.

Planogirl---the one I've read has a cooked hot breakfast every morning. Check out this menu:

The menu includes such specialties as traditional southern egg, ham and cheese grits; stuffed French toast with bananas and walnuts; homemade sweet breads; baked
stuffed apple pancakes; broccoli and cheese quiche; and crawfish quiche.

Doesn't that sound yummy??!!

Everything except the crawfish quiche, GROSS!!! :p

Do people really eat that stuff???

I love southern cooking, my mom's from Mississippi and my dad's from Alabama, but never, as long as I live, will I eat crawfish anything :)

Anyway, carry on, good luck with your b&b escape.

DH and I stayed in many B&Bs before DD came along. We even honeymooned in B&Bs throughout Ireland. Anyway, we always had a cooked breakfast along with lighter fare (i.e. fruit, cereal, yogurt). Every place we've stayed the kitchen staff was also more than happy to fix something (i.e. scrambled egg, english muffin) if nothing offered was to our liking.

Ooh that sounds wonderful! The French toast and pancakes sound really good. I would jump on this one.

We recently stayed at a plantation in Louisiana that used to have a good cooked breakfast. This last time they opened packs of bagels and bread, set out a toaster and called that breakfast. I was not impressed to say the least so now I'm a bit more cautious.

They usually include your breakfast. I haven't been to one that hasn't had a hot breakfast included and a good one at that. I usually use the website http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/
and haven't found a bad one yet. Enjoy!

For quite a few years I took DS to the Covered Bridge Bed n Breakfast when we went to StoryLand in NH. We got to know the family quite well. DS was young and they had 2 younger kids.

Breakfast was usually a choice of 2 hot breakfasts - an egg dish and a waffle type dish

Hey all of you guys have been very helpful!

Do me one more favor and look over this bed and breakfast I found and tell me what you think. I'm quite excited about it as it's only 45 minutes from where we live and the price is just right.

Here's the LINK

THANKS AGAIN!!

DENISE :wave: :sunny:

The bed n breakfast looks wonderful and the price is right!
I honestly believe the price includes breakfast.

I just received an email from the owner of the B&B DH and I are looking at staying at and she told me that the price of the room includes a gourmet breakfast! :teeth: GOURMET...I like the sound of that!

Thanks to all of you who helped me out.

Talk to ya later,

~~~Denise :wave:
OK, here's a question I've always wanted to ask about Bed and Breakfasts . . .
I've always wanted to try one with DH as a special, romantic getaway, for a birthday or an anniversary.
However, DH is bit concerned about, um, privacy, and feels a bit awkward in a stranger's home.
For example, do you have to share a bathroom with the hosts or other guests? DH would definitly NOT like that at all . . .
And, um, do the hosts/other guests sleep in the same house as you? If we get a bit, um, ROMANTIC, will anyone else hear us?:eek: :eek:
Every one we've stayed in has included a wonderful, hot breakfast. We stay in B&B's every chance we get!! :D
All the ones that I've looked at have private baths, and yes, if you get ROMANTIC you probably could be heard. I've learned to work on that though. ;) I'm sure the hosts do sleep in the same house, but it's probably nowhere near where the guests are. Why don't you check out the link I left in the thread and check out the B&B I'm looking at here in FL to give you an idea. Someone else has another great link too. If you want the private bath, be sure to look for it as you search the B&Bs. I hope I've helped.
