Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Morning Meaners. Major super quickie fly by for me today. I apologize for not being here much lately. I just seem to be on the run constantly and running when I am not on the run!! lol.

DD13 team won the tourney this weekend. They came out like gangbusters winning the first 2 games and had they won the third, we would have had 1 game on Sunday but, in true fashion, they did not. So we had 3 games Saturday and 3 games on Sunday. We think the girls like getting their money's worth (or their parents moneys worth anyway). The crushed the team they lost to twice (15-0 and then 5-1) and played superior ball. It was great to watch. Thankfully no tourneys this weekend and the following weekend is our last tourney. She is, however, still playing with the HS team (the only middle schooler allowed) and we have 2 games this week alone. Oh, and field hockey camp every day this week too.

DS6 went camping with his cousins and was very proud to report that he slid down a chocolate slide into a vat of chocolate pudding while the other kids threw whipped cream pies in his face. Ah, does it get any better. He had a blast!!!

So a great weekend for kidlets, me no running whatsoever...:rolleyes1 We hayed for 4 hours on Friday afternoon/evening and got in 881 bales total. Today starts another week and, yes, I am off my mileage again but learning to let go. Debra, I am not okay with missing miles and less than stellar runs but I am dealing with things as they come. I have no other choice.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I am tired and a little sunburned but nothing major (thankfully). Even 50 SPF did not stop the glaring sun at the tourney. I have to make ressies for a hotel for my 10K weekend. It is DH and my 15th anniversary (7/31) so we are taking the entire weekend together. :woohoo: It should be fun. Weeds are out of control again as is the laundry so I will be catching up on that as well as my line count and miles this week. I will check in as I can.

Take care Lean Meaners and keep working toward those goals!!

Hi guys dumb panda here. I have been really stupid so here is the grisly details. I would just keep my mouth shut but just in case someone else has this happen.

As I have posted thge last couple of days, I have been feeling drained. Exactly like you feel when you are coming down with something but it hasn't materialized yet.

Well this afternoon I took a quick potty break and realized my urine was dark. That is one of the classic signs of being dehydrated. So being the mental giant that I am I got to thinking about how much water I've been drinking lately. Now remember every day last week I did 4 plus miles hard on the hills and sweated like a plow horse.

This has been kind of the norm: Up at 5 am and have a few swallows of water to get my vitamin pill to go down. A cereal with skim milk and a cup of coffee. Then off to the gym. I put my bag in the locker and head out for my walk. After I get back sweating like crazy, I get a couple of swallows of water and go to the weight room. After the weights, I do the stretching and calistetics and then have a shower. On the way out I might grab another swallow of water. After I get home I have a coffee with Erica and take a nap.

When I get to work I have a water bottle that I'll take a drink from ever once in a while. At dinner I'll have a small paper cup of water. Maybe another swallow of water in the afternoon. When I get home I'll either have a beer or a bottle of water and go to bed.

Ok back to present. After the dark urine I got my water bottle and drank it empty twice, then at dinner I had 3 big glasses. Well guess what, I'm feeling wonderfull now, I felt so good I mowed the front yard with the push mower and still feel energetic. Right now I'm chugging another bottle.

That was yesterday. Today I slept in, 10 hours total with several potty trips during the night.

In a few minutes Erica and I are off for a 5 mile walk. We had a 10 miler planned but we are moving that to tomorrow. I bonked and needed extra sleep.

Have an awesome day y'all and stay hydrated.

Silly Panda:guilty:

Have an awesome day y'all and stay hydrated.
Hey Dave! Deb and I have been discussing this lately. We both have issues with feeling really sluggish when our water intake is low. It's amazing isn't it how much difference it makes when you up your water intake? My son had a PE teacher who would say, "Eat right, pee white" I think that applies to water more than anything else. Glad you figured it out and that you're feeling better.:)

Morning Meaners!

Thanks for reminding us how important good hydration is, queazy Panda! I keep water bottles stashed in all my trucks, (Kinda like a drunk has booze) so that I am never far from a drink of water.

Lisa! Chocolate vat??? Where can I get a birthday party like that??????      Congratulations to DD for doing so well and being so concientious about a $!!! Do you ever feel guilty when a sports season your kid is in just keeps going and going and going and you, the parent, just kinda wish they would lose, so you can stop??? Or is that just me?

Debra! Is Hell Boy as yucky as it sounds??? :confused3 I have seen the trailers, but.......... -- I love scientist people!

Tracey! You're DS wasn't far wrong when he called that cat a tiger! All cats can growl. It just sounds different in a little kitty! -- But I LOVE that! That's very perceptive of your baby.

My cats are a riot. Just this weekend one of them decided that the inside of my dryer was a great place for a nap. Good thing she is gray, I spotted her right away. But she sure put my laundry on hold for a little while! :rotfl: The other cat is a beautiful calico, but she is more tortoise shell looking rather than the typical calico...very wild looking. She has rabbit soft fur and she decides when it's time for me to go to bed! Last night, she got up on the arm of my chair, and then gently put her mouth on my nose in what could have been a serious bite if whe weren't so careful. It was time for bed and I needed to be there, NOW! We went to bed.

I am making an appointment with my doctor about my achilles, it's hurting again. In the mean time it's weights and pilates and stretching until I can do something better. The dreadmill should be here sometime this week. Funny, how I order the treadmonster and my achilles starts acting up, again! :sad2:

Avast, ya scurvy scalawags! Bring out yer rum, yer gold running medals, and get on board the Lean Meaner pirate party. (Sorry Dave, that's it's not the weekend party you hoped for, but I'm trying to make up for lost time.) Only true, rascally rogues and wily wenches welcome! pirate:

Dave: Aw, you're such a romantic when it comes to movies. You and Erica and a tub of popcorn. You probably even share the latter. DOOD and I take turns choosing the movies, you? And hey, seeing movies is THE life, IMO!

You or Erica will have to tell me how you like the Skinny B*tch books. They're best-sellers and I've only glanced at them, but their type of humor seems right up your alley. Yay for having signed up for your September race, but sorry it's not the August one. Being a responsible adult--or at least licensed optician--isn't always fun.

I'm super glad you discovered you were having hydration issues. I know how awful I feel when I'm underhydrated, so I can only imagine how you felt. I mean, I get tired and fuzzy-headed, so I can't even figure out what's wrong. And that makes it hard to diagnose. Anyway, yay for taking such quick and decisive steps to address the water issue.

Vic: Oh, I'll bet you and Mike are skirt chasers, aren't you? Any race is a good one, right, and you might as well have the incentive to do your best? ;) Maybe I'll have DOOD stop at the local beer store (where we can mix-and-match beers to fill a six-pack) and try for a German taste test. He's been trying local beers recently.

Tracey: I'm willing to have you pamper me any day of the week. I may take notes on your behavior, but I'm sure a small part of my non-intellectual, emotional self would be touched by your care. I probably wouldn't shed a tear about your loving kindness, though, even if it were as sentimental as The Bucket List. :lmao: Oh, btw, tell your DS that I've now added "Eat right, pee white" to my list of WO mantras. I'm not sure you're all great influences on me, but you're certainly fun!

Lisa: This is your busy time of you (matter of degrees, I know), so I'm feeling we're pretty special that you make as much time for us as you do (I think I can speak for all of us on this one). Congrats to DD's softball team and especially to DD. She's gifted. Maybe she'll eventually get an athletic scholarship for college. I do have to admit, however, that I'd much prefer DS's weekend than DD's. Hearing about chocolate slides just made me grin from ear to ear. (I probably look like a freak.)

I'm sorry to hear that you're behind on your running mileage and left to deal with the results. To quote ScoJo's blog, "It is what it is," huh? I wish for you more time, but your summers are so packed with activities. I suppose it's small consolation that your obligations like bailing hay are physically rigorous, I would guess. If I could send you some of my down time, I would. But here's some PD for more running in your future--I hate to hear you're frustrated--and also good thoughts for DD's upcoming tournament. May they win in straight games, hang the money's worth! And I'll hope that your 15th anniversary weekend if jam-packed worth of fun, sweaty activity, including running! ;) 15 years??? Wow! And congratulations!

Connie: Don't calicos have the softest fur? They retain that nice, kittenish (rabbitish) fur throughout adulthood. Your other cat sounds just as cute and filled with personality. I have a gray cat (male) and a tortoise (female) as well, isn't that strange? They're chirpers, having discovered the mourning doves like our window sill. I'm sorry to hear about your Achilles--it sounds as if it doesn't like the idea of a TM.

About Hellboy II: I liked Hellboy II, because I really like Mike Mignola's comic book and appreciate Guillermo del Toro's visuals. The comic books are heavily influenced by fairy tales and folklore--some of my research interests--so that's how I came to the stories.

As far as the films go, they're very much like your standard comic-book storyline: with great power comes great responsibility, and it's the choices you make which determine who you are, not your background or what you're born into. It's not really scary. Hellboy is like an supernatural anti-hero superhero, a demon who choses to work on behalf of humanity. He's a beer-drinking, cigar-smoking, short-tempered wise a$$ hero, who just happens to be a demon. But he's a good guy, fighting the evils of the world and fighting the idea that he's destined to destroy the world. PD on your doctor's appointment!

To all Lean Meaners: :wave2:

As for me: I had my first gluten-free sweet this weekend. Pretty darn good, I must say. And I was surprised. We've got a lot of nutritional experts here--what might be the advantages to adding gluten-free meals to my diet? I'm not sensitive, as far as I know.

And in running news. My experiment with speedwork is over. I'll continue to do one run a week where I try to push myself, but I'm spending too much time resenting the effort and not enough time enjoying myself. Not enough fun in my run. So I need to slow down, relax, and be present in the moment. Besides, when did I become the type of person who watched the clock? :confused3 So anyone wanting to hang out with me in January has to be comfortable with the back of the pack, cause that's where I'll be. Besides, I hear the view from the backside of most of the crowd can be pretty good. (Pssst. EVERYONE should wear running skirts for me.)

Hey Lean Meaners!

I had to just pop in quickly and take the quiz! When I took the full test in grad school, I was an ESFJ. Today I'm an ISTJ. I think my head is less in the clouds now I'm a mom with a real job, and I'm too tired to be social!

No time for a long post, but just know I am thinking of each of you, and wishing you great workouts! I'm also mostly lurking for the next few weeks, but I will be back!

Maria

Good morning everybody!

Lisa...Yay:cheer2: for DD and her tourney win! And WOW for DS and the "chocolate slide"--that sounds like a blast. That's wonderful that you get to get away for your anniversary. I'll second Debra's good wishes for your trip!

Connie...Ouch, sorry to hear the achilles is acting up. Your cats sound beautiful--although I would've startled if she put her teeth on my nose. We have a border collie who is a natural "herder" and has taken it upon himself to herd the 2 year old wherever he, the dog, thinks the 2 year old should go. It's a battle of wills!

Deb... Pirate girl pirate:!!!! Now that you gave details of the movie, I have seen previews. I really want to see Mamma Mia. I know what you mean about the speed intervals. I'm not a clock watcher either. You might want to check out the RW plan in this month's issue. Although it incorporates some interval's, it also gives you 1 day of an easy run and 1 day of a 30 min walk. I like that on those days I don't have to work quite so hard.:)

Maria... hey girl! I was lurking on the resort boards and saw that you posted you're staying at CSR for marathon weekend. I love that resort and that's where we're thinking of staying. Did you use the marathon discount?

Vic, Mike, Jeanne, Amy, Beth, Dave, Wendy, and anyone I missed (sorry)

Busy day for us. My Grandma passed away on Sunday night. She was 95 and had a great life, but it's never easy to lose someone you love. Tomorrow is her memorial service so today is filled with getting kids where they need to go and making sure everything is ready for tomorrow.
Hope y'all have a great day!

Tracey - My cats never harm me. They will bite and scratch DOOC, but not me. I think they can't decide if I am the momma cat or the kitten! Calico (her nickname) has been doing that to my nose for...ever! It was kind of startling the first time, but it is her way of saying, "Hey, I am trying to talk to you! Would you please pay attention!" She actually lived cattycorner  from us, but the people were abusive and neglectful to her. I told DOOC if she ever came to visit I was going to ask her if she wanted a new home. At the time, she was as tiny as a 6 week old kitten but was in fact over 6 months old. She came over hunting rabbits, and I picked her up and took her in the house and she decided she would just move in! She didn't stop purring for 24 hours the first day. And didn't go back outside for nearly a year! -- LOL I just love to watch herding dogs trying to herd children! You never know who will win!

So sorry for your loss of your grandmother. Grandmother's are so special.

Debra - :goodvibes THat is funny that we have such smilar cats. Mine were foundlings needing good homes. I had to leave them both at the vets when we went on vacation one time. Charcoal, chewed me out for three days! She tries to use a soft sweet voice, but she in fact has a voice that is something like a cross between an alley cat and very cranky siamese! She let me have it!

Okay, I may have to Hell Boy and Hell Boy II. I thought they looked kind of interesting, but the name just sounds..........

Gluten Free diets

Most people who have gluten problems don't really know it. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are probably ! out 133 people (generally European descent) who have gluten allergies or cecilia desease. The gluten in wheat, barley and even oats, basically do away with the little hairy like fibers in the colon and make the colon smooth. Think of a plush carpet becoming a tile floor. When the hairs are gone, nutrients aren't nearly as well absorbed and the individual in question may be suffering from deficiencies. The symptoms are indistinct from other deseases like IBS and Lactose Intolerance and so it isn't often diagnosed or treated. And many doctors believe that it doesn't even exist. There is however, a simple blood test that can determine if a patient has the desease.

There are now drugs that are useful in children with the desease. But most people find that they have tremendous relief within a month by just going gluten free. Of course that's much easier than it sounds, because the grains are everywhere!!! Below is substitutions you can make to help you go gluten free:

For 1 tablespoon of wheat flour, substitute one of these:

1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 1/2 teaspoons potato starch
1 1/2 teaspoons arrowroot starch
1 1/2 teaspoons rice flour
2 teaspoons quick-cooking tapioca
For 1 cup of wheat flour, substitute one of these:

3/4 cup plain cornmeal, coarse
1 cup plain cornmeal, fine
5/8 cup potato flour
3/4 cup rice flour

Okay, everyone else out there in leaner meaner land :grouphug: -- Connie

Did I not say hello yesterday? hmm. I thought I did. So...Hello!!!

I'm off the that stupid doc today to get the results of my bloodwork and endoscopy.

I'll be back later to report in and catch up w/ everyone!!!

:upsidedow

Stacie

Hi guys! So...I'm back from the doctor. All is ok. My bloodwork looked ok. He said the my blood cells were small so now they are checking my iron and B vitamin and sugar... Why didn't they do this before? :confused3 I asked for all my vitamins to be checked. He said the blood work came back that I do not have Celiac. There are two genes and I have one of them...the less dominant one. He said he really saw no point in me eating gluten free, but if I wanted to for 3 months, I could...just to see if I feel better. The polyps are coming from my body's lack to produce acid which doesn't allow my body to absorb the vitamins according to him. So, to help my produce more acid, I should have some mineral water after my meals or add more yogurt to my diet. I need to take a multi vitamin as well. In addition, my thyroid was a bit high (which shoud cause people to lose weight...not me though!). He is sending me to an endocrinologist to have that checked out.

So...the blood test and the stool test are pretty much completely opposite of each other concerning the celiac. I still don't know what to believe. He did say eating gluten free is fine. It makes you eat less carbs and the ones you do eat are healthier for you.

Bottom line...I'm still going to eat gluten free, add bubbly water, multi vitamins and see what happens.

I think that's about. I'll catch up w/ everyone else later. I've got get some work done! I was gone way to long this morning!

Stacie

EDITED to add: Matt went with me and the doc did seem better with him there. He was still more focused on my weight though, but...whatever.

Greetings, Lean Mean Machines!

There isn't much lean about me lately...we won't discuss mean :rolleyes1

I have determined that when my company leaves tomorrow after their 13-day visit, I have to start over with a new diet and exercise plan. I am getting out The Beck Diet Solution, I am weighing in Friday for a baseline for WW online, and I am committing to both my 4 and 2 mile wogs and actually using the handweights I keep prominently displayed in my bedroom.

I am not walking to 7-11 for "chips" to go with my lunch, I am not sitting and mindlessly eating Twizzlers Pull and Peel while I watch tv, and I am not skipping my workout because it's too late/hot. Whew. Glad I put that in writing! ;) A new day dawns on Friday, I am off to a fresh start!

Stacie -- I think it sounds like good news :confused3 I hope the gluten free diet does make you feel better, and everything goes well with the visit to the endocrinologist. I know you are very frustrated, and I hope the gluten free diet helps in every way possible!

Connie -- Your kitties sound adorable. I am also a kitty mama, my boys are 15, so they have slowed down a bit. :cat:

Tracey -- I am so sorry for your loss! It is hard to take at any time, even when it is not completely unexpected. We are indeed staying at CSR. I did not use the marathon discount because I hope to change the reservation to AAA when the rates come out.

Debra -- I don't think you're exactly in the back of the pack, but I'm glad you've decided what you are comfortable with doing. I knew you had a little pirate luv in ya -- are you a Jack Sparrow girl? I prefer Will Turner, but that actually has more to do Orlando Bloom than the character. :rolleyes1

Dave -- Thanks for the hydration reminder. I'm sorry it happened to you, I'm glad you shared the lesson for all of us! :thumbsup2 We have family movie night every Saturday. We just watched "The Princess Bride". DH was pleasantly surprised animated characters did not sing.

Lisa -- It does sound like your kids had a wonderful weekend! And I'm sure you are going to have a fantastic anniversary. DH and I celebrated 15 years 5/8, 1993 was a very good vintage! :goodvibes

Vic, Beth, Jeanne, Amykab, Mike, Wendy -- Hope you're feelin' lean and mean!

Maria :upsidedow

Stacie,

Yeah, good news for you! :thumbsup2 Good going on the gluten free diet, the mineral water, and the vitamins.

NOTE: CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR ON THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS ON VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS TO MEET YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS.

Due to my constant training, I supplement with the following vitamins:

Iron-I'm a regular blood donor, plus all the sweating and foot pounding from running depletes my iron stores.

My old doctor thought I had Thalassemia, which is basically anemia. My blood test iron count was low. That diagnosis changed when I told him I donate a pint every eight weeks.

My current doctor did a blood test that showed my iron level is now okay, but my iron storage is low. I'd be in trouble if I got into an accident, and had moderate blood loss. So I take iron twice a day. And I try to cook in a cast iron skillet whenever I can.

FYI-I just read that women who run or exercise hard have a tendency to be iron deficient. (Do a Google search on running iron deficiency for several articles).

http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/nutrition/a/012604.htm

http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/hs/coachscorner/20051215.html

http://pfitzinger.com/labreports/iron.shtml

Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium (mostly for muscle cramping). DON'T COMBINE CALCIUM AND IRON AT THE SAME TIME. CALCIUM BLOCKS THE ABSORPTION OF IRON. I take them each at different times.

Amino Acids (post runs for recovery).

Vitamin C or citrus fruits helps the body absorb iron (mainly during cold/flu season).

Lots of water every day for hydration. I make sure to check when I pee that it's either clear or light straw yellow in color. Medium to dark yellow means you're dehydrated.

Another test, is press your thumbnail so it "turns white", and when you release it should immediately "turn back to pink." If it's slow to "turn back to pink", then you're dehydrated.

If you're thirsty, your already dehydrated.

That's my daily vitamin and water regime.

Anyone else out there want to share their vitamin and water routines?

Apparently, while the sports minded people are sitting around discussing the race and drinking a beer, I'll be asking everyone if I can refill their cup, get them something else or giving a massage!

Tracey,
I'll be first in line for the beer :drinking1 , the refill, and the massage. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Will you have a recovery tent set up at the Disneyland Half next month? If so, we WISHers need a map to it's location! Great idea, and we could have a "bragathon" just like the Disney Deads runners do after each race.

Hello again! I'm back to catch up on everyone!

Lisa...Yay for DD's team! A 10K anniversary weekend away! Very cool! 15 years is a great accomplishment! My brother in law and his wife were 15 years this month too! :thumbsup2 An early Happy Anniversary to you!

Panda...Stay hydrated! Too bad about having to move your race. At least there is another on the horizon!

Connie...Take care of that achillies! I hope it heals quickly.

Deb...Glad to hear you enjoyed your gluten-free sweet! I made muffins, but I should have taken them out of the oven sooner. They are bit dry, but otherwise ok. I plan to toy w/ making cupcakes gluten-free for a baby shower I am attending in Aug. I enjoy movies. I'm not as knowledgable in literature as you(wish I was), but one of my perfect date nights is dinner and movie! Love me some movies (w/ popcorn of course!). I'm glad to see you are focusing on putting some fun back into your run! IMHO, I think enjoying is more important than pushing yourself to the point of mental disappointment and exhaustion. Matt and I will be in the back of the pack with you! I am hoping to walk/run the 1/2 marathon. I can't decide if want to train for a walk/run or a run/walk. I guess I'll just where I am fitness wise when I finish Round 2 of C25K before I start training. I don't imagine I'll avrg much more than 13/14 min mile. I'm just there to have fun and finish it and get my Donald Medal. Yay!

Maria...Friday is a new start! You can do it!

Tracey...I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother!

Jeff...Thanks for your input on the vitamins. Very interesting about the iron deficiency and training. I'll have to look into that a bit more.

Vic, Jeanne, Amy, Mike, Wendy, Beth and anyone else I missed...

Oh, and by the way...I did get up this morning and do W2D1 of C25K...again! My first few runs felt good, but 1/2 way through I knew I was tired and I was getting slower. Overall it felt good to get back out there and get going go!

Our weekend was good. We babysat our newphew...He's 10. He's a big helper and helped me clean out our study a bit. It's now nice and clean and organized! You can finally walk in there AND see the floor! I organized the closet and the desk. I finally feel good about it. Now the spare bedroom has all the e-bay stuff. I hope we don't have company soon or they'll be sleeping on the couch!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!
Stacie

Ding Dong, the company's gone! :woohoo:

Now I can relax when I'm at home. My work is going crazy, so I really need my down time. I'll be glad to see my Dad again in December, but right now I need a break from relatives. I can't wait to get home tonight and get on the TM! I don't care how hot it is, I'm at least going for a walk. I snuck a peak at the scale and :scared1: doesn't begin to describe it. I'm starting my own "Biggest Loser", I just have to have more action than planning...I'm a great planner, it's the doing that gets me! :lmao:

Let's get Leaner!
Maria

Morning Meaners. Speeding through as usual lately. I feel bad with these short posts but one more month of kidlet summer and then maybe things can get back to normal for me.

Stacie, I am really glad to hear that your blood work is okay. I am chronically anemic too partly due to exercising and partly due to allergies which cause chronic nosebleeds for me. I cannot give blood (what a bummer there being as needle phobic as I am). I do take a multivitamin daily and it has improved my energy level since I started them. Gluten-free for awhile cannot hurt for sure. My cleaning lady said that her chiropractor told her she should give up everything with yeast. :confused3

Maria, make sure your goals are workable for you. I see too many people setting the "pie in the sky" goals and then failing and falling back into the rut. Try working one one at a time and let us know which one so we can help you out!! Best of luck.

Dave, your water stores are down but part of your urine color could be the electrolyte imbalance that follows along with dehydration. Maybe try some electolyte tabs in the water and see if that helps you out some. It will help you absorb the water better too. :thumbsup2

Debra, I do some speedwork but I blow it off on days where I am not feeling the love...like yesterday. I was supposed to do 1 mile easy, 5 miles at HM pace and then 1 mile easy again. I started out good. Mile 1 was 11 mpm and mile 2 was 9:30 mpm and then it fell into an 11 mpm that I just could not force myself out of. I ended up with an overall of 11:10 mpm for the whole run but I got the miles in and that is what really matters to me. I know during race day, I will move faster no matter whether my legs think I should or not. I think that speedwork is helpful and maybe just try adding it in when you are having a particularly good run.

Everyone else (including my alter ego from another dimension Connie): How is everyone doing?

From the Great North Woods, well here comes the TMI section...I have an abscess forming from riding my bike...:rolleyes1 in a very sensitive spot...:rolleyes1 where my spanx from my running skirt and other unmentionables rub...:rolleyes1 hence my slower run. Needless to say, I got a lot of swelling happening and it ain't purty. :scared1:  This coupled with 85 degrees and high humidity made for a crapolicious run for me. I just kept telling myself that I needed to keep running no matter how slow, just to get the miles in and get it done. Does anyone else have to keep telling their feet to move or is it just me? Just keep moving, just keep moving. :yay: Anyway, done with the TMI and moving onto today. I have a health risk assessment at work. Hey, they give us a $100 gift card for being healthy, how can I afford not to go. I figure I will use it to update some things in my wardrobe that do not fit so well anymore. Then it is either rest or XT whichever I decided. Obviously not back on my bike....well okay maybe back on my bike with some extra padding.

Have a great day Meaners and lets all feel the love today!!!!

Lisa, I have felt your pain literally. I did triathalons in Vegas and with the high heat and the little seat along with the being soaked in sweat, I had the same problems.

Thanks for the heads up about the electro lytes. Worry not dear friend I've been watching that. I'm drinking G2 drinks a few times a day and taking electro lyte tablets. In addition I don't normally salt my food but I have the last couple of days just to make sure.

Get better pretty princess.

Maria, so glad you have peace and quiet again. It really can be golden.

Everyone thanks for your well wishes about getting back to normal. Since we did 16 miles over the last 2 days I'm taking today off and getting back in the saddle again tomorrow.

Have a super day y'all.

Resting Panda:hippie:

Morning!
Connie, I love that you took the neighbors cat in and she decided to stay. My mom found herself with a cat in exactly the same way. They know where they're loved. Thanks for the gluten free substitutions. We know someone who recently found he has Celiac's so I'm passing on the info.

Stacie, so glad you're making some progress with the Dr. It sounds like the news is good, but I know you're looking for answers. Keep it up and you'll get to the bottom of it all. Good job on getting the w/o in--I love C25K. You're nephew sounds like a sweetie, love a boy who cleans! Organized is one of my favorite words.:)

Maria, glad you've gotten your house back to your own little family. Sounds like a great time to make a new start and you're gettin' back in the groove.:woohoo: Even though I haven't made a "reasons" card from the book I find myself thinking of my reasons before I start noshing on anything I can get my hands on.

Jeff, thanks for reminding us about iron. I took off my rings a month ago to find big black marks. I know that's my sign to up the iron! Sorry, I won't be at Disneyland to serve, but I'll be at the 1/2 in Jan. So, did you take the personality survey in post #1684 and find yourself in the sporty group too? My personality sounds a bit like Beaver Cleaver's mom, and actually that's pretty correct, except I've got a lot more spunk, and instead of pearls and heels, I'm in running shorts and Asics! :lmao:

Lisa, ouch abscess.:scared1: Someone recently sent me an email about misuse of a home waxing kit and gluing their ummmm....unmentionables together. :scared1: Your story made me think of it! Take care of that and maybe keep your seat off the seat for a day! Yowsers! I hear you on the kids and busy, busy, busy.....I barely have time to think.

Thanks everybody for the expressions of sympathy for my grandma. She was a sweet lady and will be missed. Luckily, I have millions of wonderful memories.

Happy Hump day Meaners! I have been down and out a few days.....I am guessing it's a virus or something. I think I passed it on to ds #1......:confused3 I have had a bad back and head ache, my teeth hurt, and the roof of my mouth swelled up..... WTH? Weird symptoms.....I thought better of going out for a run.....:confused3 So I have had 3 days off...... not what I wanted!

Sometimes it's hard to know when to push through things, and when to sit back and wait to feel better...... I am not good at doing that. I never know when it will hurt more than it will help..... :headache:

Eating has been all over the place.....not eating, and then eating crap......

But, today seems better.....still tired, but my head feels better....yeah!

So, what have I missed.....somewhere mentioned 'gluing' body parts together????? WTH?????? Someone explain!

I will try to come back to read up on everyone......probably take me forever!

Wagon tip of the day: Build in some extra 'training' time throughout your day. Sounds easy enough, until faced with several flights of steps! I am one to avoid the steps, but today I will take them whenever the oppurtunity arises! How about you?????

Beth

Good morning Lean Meaners!

Tracey - My two cats are the second and third cats that I have ever had in my life! LOL I didn't know they could be so fun and funny. The first was also a foundling that had hitched a ride 40 miles in my daughter's car. He was so small that I had to feed him with a doll bottle for a while. I kept saying to him, "Please don't die, please don't die....man oh man, I don't want a cat!" :lmao: But I babied him along and he lived. He always went on vacations with us and our 80 lb Siberian Huskey!

Stacie - Glad to hear that things are better than expected. Keep plugging away and you will find the cause of these problems. Congrats on the workout!

Beth - I am so sorry you have been under the weather. The rule of thumb I learned is: "If it hurts above the neck, workout! If it hurts below the neck, rest!" I usually just ask my body if it wants to workout and it uaually just answers... NO! :rotfl:

Lisa, my altar ego! :scared1: OMGosh! I can't imagine how that feels. I feel for you! Hope it improves...I think it's not from the bike but from the bleachers!!! ;)

Keeping my feet moving.....I walk away from the house, so that I have to walk back! I call it, motivation!

Maria Glad you got rid of the company. Love to have company, Love to have company go! Going should be done with greater haste than arriving!

Congratulations on climbing back up on this wagon with the rest of us. We are all here to support each other! Ever think about how weird it is, that most of us are probably expert nutritionists, and yet we have to read somebody else's work for some reason???

Does anyone feed their cats, Greenies? I have my cats doing tricks for Greenies!!! Who knew you could do that, besides circus lion tamers???

Jeff - You are right, pre-menopausal women need lots and lots of iron. Post menopausal don't need quite so much. If anyone has a hard time getting enough iron, get some cast iron cookware! It's the easiest way to have your iron without noticing it! I use my cast iron on the grill, on the stove top, in the oven, it's the most versatile cookware available AND it helps to keep you healthy and lasts forever! I saw a graph one time that showed the incidence of anemia rose as the use of cast iron cookware fell.

Debra The backside of the running pack is pretty good. And you actually get to enjoy the race....did I say race?? Well, not the race, but the "racing experience"! :goodvibes

From the Great Plains atop the Cap Rock - Just got a call, my dreadmill will be here today. That's pretty interesting. I have been icing and elevating and rubbing and massaging and trying to take care of the achilles and this morning it feels .....not so bad....and here comes my NEW toy! :woohoo: Still working on the Pilates and weight control.

Y'all make a great and healthy DAY! - Connie
