Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Mike beauty is in the eye of the beholder and frankly, I was beholding a hot, hot, hottie!

Lisa Sorry you are so jammed up for time! Hope to hear more from you soon. Your wit and wisdom is much appriciated and enjoyed! Sounds like you had a great run. Survival conditions are ......survival conditions!

Tracey A Pony-O is pretty pricey, but you can use them forever! And after the first order, you get 1/2 off the next ....or some discount. I have been using the same ones for 2 years. As for bangs and sweat, try one of the Wish racing caps or visors! They are washable and comfortable and helps keep the sun off your lovely complexion!

Amy I like the photo, too! It makes me want an apres run drinki!

Beth Wagon tips are great. I am learning to like veggies. ... I am too! Oh yes, I am!!..... Sometimes, I have meals sans meat...... I do too! Oh wait! No one else was arguing with me, were they??? :upsidedow

Stacey Oh yeah, it's good news on the boat. We actually have two boats, one for lakes and one for the river. DOOC works a lot of hours and if he can't play with the tractor, the boat, the truck, the RV, the ATV's, the bow and arrows, etc. He is bothering me! :rotfl:

Vic Have a safe trip home!!!

Everyone whom I missed :wave2: Hope to hear from you soon!

From the Great Plains atop the Cap Rock, it's still hot and humid! Yuck! I did my very slow, very hard miles, yesterday and I didn't like it. I am gong to have to do something about my achilles, though. It ain't happy, if it ain't happy I ain't happy!

Just thought I'd post this if anyone is interested...

I found this personality test and interpretation very interesting. If you read the ISTJ details I think most will find that it describes me pretty accurately. I re-took it and it came back ESTJ. I'm about 50/50 Introvert/extrovert maybe swaying a bit more towards the introvertness. I like to be around people, but I do enjoy my quiet time! STJ is very accurate though!

So...what are you?

Hey guys, I love y'all but not much time for posting this week.

I'm getting my workouts in and eating properly. I wanna look like Mike. Of course for 56 I've been told I look hot, Hummmm wonder if that was a compliment?:lmao:

Erica is doing well and her feet and ankles are not swelling very much at work now. We do a 10 miler togehter on Monday. She is eating a veggie diet and it's finally kicking in. Our bodies resist change buit when they finally get the message the changes can be dramatic. She lost 8 lbs last week.

I'll catch back up soon. Can't neglect chatting with my pretty princesses buddies for to long now can I.

Be strong dear friends. :grouphug:

Crazed Panda:hippie:

Hmmmm, ESTJ here too. How odd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :upsidedow

I think we have to go on the great minds thing right!!

Ha,ha.....I'm actually ESTJ also!!!!! Too funny. However although I am a very strong E and a very strong J, the S and T could really go either way. I was only 51.4% for each, which meant the opposite was 48.6, which doesn't really cement the characteristic! My E factor was nearly 80% which kinda surprises me, because I used to be so shy. I guess getting older has liberated me!

Mike: great photo.......but where are all the ladies? That's a lot of testosterone! :rotfl:

How funny! The first time I did it, I was an I, the second time, I was and E, but only about 51%. It totally depends on my mood, I think I swing more towards the Introvert.

How funny we are all about the same!!!

The ladies start was about 5 minutes behind the guys.

They actually started four waves. Under 30 guys, over 30 guys, under 30 women, then over 30 women, teams, and everyone who missed their start last.

Why did the ladies start last? I thought it was always "Ladies first" (or at least in the south)! :goodvibes

There is a local 5k race called the skirt chaser...the ladies have a 5 minute headstart, then the men chase them to the finish line...

Pretty fun and funny!

I'm an ESFJ! Yep, it describes me perfectly. That's amazing!

Pretty fun and funny!

My DS15 and I were just reading about these. We want one in MO! Maybe we'll have to drive to Chicago.:)

Good morning!

Skirt chasers. I would be a skirt caught up to and left in the dust!
Guess that would make me a dust ruffle! :lmao:

Dave You are a hottie, you just happen to be the distiguished Hollywood Leading man type!

ESTJ Isn't that odd?? I guess since we are all here, we have similar personalities?? Or perhaps the dang test is rigged??? :confused3 I really loved the part about athletic type!!!

Where is everybody????:confused3

From the Great Plains atop the Cap Rock, yesterday,I had to take the girls in for their shots. They did not want to go because they don't like it at the dr's office. I had one of them throwing a temper tantrum and the other was trying to take a nap. The sleepy one was snarling at the tantrum thrower....big time! I finally got them settled down in the carrier, but when we got to the office, they didn't want OUT of the carrier. They actually braced themselves against the door with all four paws! Oh, did I mention that they are cats??? I was laughing so hard, I think I gave them a complex.

Stretching and Pilates for me, today! See ya!

Connie I wonder if anyone will notice a difference in Erica and I since between us we will hoefully have lost about 50 lbs from last year by the time the ToT gets here. We have a combined weight loss and muscle gain of 30 lbs as of right now.

Let's make this talk like a pirate weekend. So come on ya scurvy guppies, let's get those miles in or it's the plank fur ya!

Capt Jack Pandapirate:

Vic: I knew you were a Scotch (and beer) man with excellent taste. Any German beer suggestions for DOOD? And I've never heard the term slappy feet--I guess it's not slap-happy. :sad1: Sorry about your run.

Aloha Jeff: Welcome to the party!!! I expect you to bring the Famous Grouse from here on out!

Mike: Woo hoo for all such alcohol. I like my alcohol like I like my private eyes and my muscles: hard and strong. Two out of three ain't bad.... Now you, in your action shot, you look like your muscles fit the bill. And you look so familiar--can't place it? Who do people say you look like? I'm thinking that guy from The Wire, Jim True-Frost. Except you have more muscles. :thumbsup2 I'm with the "Mike's a hottie" club, btw.

Lisa: Remy-Martin's a decent stock-your-party-bar kind of label. I wouldn't turn it down. I told DOOD about the black and blue--he asked for the name of ale you buy. Hmmm.... As for me, you've got me considering the appeal of a chocolate/lime outfit combination. Unlike many of you, my running shoes DO match the lime green. Just lucky on that one. You're probably still baling hale right now, and I hope your day went by quickly and without incident. Did you think $4 each time you finished a bale? Cha ching!

I can't believe you made muffins in 15 minutes!!! It takes me that long just to decide what I want to make. :worship: And then you also did 7 miles. I won't tell you how long it takes me to work up the mindset for that one. Your 10:45 average is great, with or without the heat. I hope your softball tourney is a good workut and as much, if not more, fun than your running. (Although I'm glad to hear you're sounding fine with all your runs, even the ones where you have to remind yourself to keep moving.)

AmyK: You and me, we should keep each other accountable on the Pilates. I've been sporadic since the move, as my space for exercising has changed (well, disappeared). I need some buddy butt-kicking. I'm glad to read your C25K W2 is progressing nicely. I'm sure doing both Pilates and C25K will make your legs a little sore now, but also make you much stronger in the long run. In fact, that's what I'm counting on for me, too.And you will have also earned your beer for your new beer journal. I just know DOOD would like to compare notes with you.

As for your co-workers--wow, pajamas at work? And they're doing the equivalent of drinking the last of the OJ & putting the carton back in the fridge. Wow! Some people consider work to be their extended personal space, don't they? Getting away for the weekend is a much-deserved break, I think, and I hope you have a great time. (With more fun, artistic pictures.) I'm sure DD will have a terrific time with her cousins, and I'm sending PD that she travels well.

Connie: My vote is for the challenges of coming back from vacation. My routines are always so disrupted and it takes me 2x as long to get back into the swing of things. Is sounds like the boat incident will provide DOOC with hours of planning and reconstruction fun--that's a silver lining for you! No grilling turkey for me. I don't cook meat and would be afraid of what would happen if I tried. Now, the backsplash idea intrigues me.. Congratulations--I think--on ordering the dreadmill. It sounds like a great deal, even if it won't make you as happy as the Bodybugg.

Oh, and cats! So purrrsnickety!

Stacie: I'm sorry that you have to give up beer--never thought about that as a gluten product (my ignorance raises its ugly head). But having the margaritas as a substitute isn't a wholly bad thing, right? :goodvibes As for the biking, Mike's advice seems right on the money. I tend to use my bike for leisure (vs. training) or commuters. I don't even count my outdoor biking for anything but time, as I spend as much time negotiating traffic as pedaling, it seems. And that keeps the biking more fun for me, I guess.

Beth: If you've not a Scotch drinker, you might like Pebble Beach Speyside 12yo. It's very light, summery, and kind of the intro-to-Scotch drink that I like to introduce to non-Scotch drinkers. Smooth and not overwhelming to the palate. Woo hoo for your eating being under control! :cool1:

Tracey: Yeah, shoulders. I think I'm increasingly obsessed with them, thanks to you and Lisa. I never think of going to Marshall's for fitness gear, so more thanks for the heads-up! One can never have too many bras. I don't like my legs in shorts so much, so I tend to wear men's shorts. But I do like UnderArmour and the price is right, so perhaps I should check out my local Marshall's and see what they carry. Your RW plan sounds great, both for shorter races and hopefully for January. For me, a sub 30 5K is super speedy, but I'm with you on incorporating interval training. :thumbsup2

Dave: Of course you're a member of the Hottie club. Congrats to Erica for her diet kicking in and to the both of you for your 10 miler.

As for me: On the Myers-Briggs Test, I score a INTJ "Scientist" type. Woo hoo! :woohoo: I scored near 55/45 splits in the Introverted/Extroverted and the Intuitive/Sensing categories and near-straight 50/50 percentages with the Thinking/Feeling and the Judging/Perceiving categories, though and I believe I was an INFJ when I took the test for a friend who was doing her MA in psych. Hard to remember. Either way, it looks like I'm odd woman out. Not unusual for me! :rotfl: I'm definitely on board with the introverted/intuitive designation and suspect I'm more of a thinking instead of a feeling person. It is what it is.

And in this neck of the woods, heat warnings for all. It was nice enough earlier, when we went for a quick run to the gym and worked out, but it's oppressive right now. We snuck out for a matinee of Hellboy II and air-conditioning. I think we're the only couple I know that has a budget just for movie-going. (Seriously, we do.)

No Debra we do a lot of movies also. I'm just old fashioned and dumb enouth to believe that sharing a big bag of popcorn and then having my pretty princess cuddle her head against my chest really is heaven on earth. Having a good movie to watch to is a fine way to spend an afternoon. I know I need to get a life.:lmao:

Leaner Panda:hippie:

Good morning Lean Meaners!

Hoping your Sunday has started off well.

Guess I need to get moving this morning. Maybe get in 3 or 4 on the TM.

Debra – Stay cool. It’s been so long since I went searching for German beer I don’t know what is available. I used to buy Bitburger here locally. That’s the only one I can think of at the moment. Slappy feet - At times I have problems getting my stride synced up and end up slapping my feet when I land. Weird.

Connie – Glad you and the girls had fun at the vet. :rolleyes1 :lmao: Take care of that Achilles.

Mike – We could use a skirt chaser 5K around these parts too. :thumbsup2 Great photos by the way.

Tracey – W’sup!?

Stacie – W’sup!?

Jeanneg – W’sup!?

Maria - W'sup!?

Lisa – How are the cows? WTG with the 7 miler the other day.

Amy – Hope you have a great trip.

Beth – W’sup!? The kitchen remodeling is on hold until we get the appliances paid off. Then it will be time for cabinet refacing. Was that a boring race last night, or what? Watching paint dry would have been more exciting.

WWDave – Behave yourself.

:)

Vic, me behave? Between me and Jeanne Lily stays busy moderating.:thumbsup2

I bought Erica the books I told you I saw the write up about on that link you posted. Skinny B$#%h and Skinny B%$#h in the kitchen. About Holistic veggie lifestyle.

I was going to do a race on ther July 26 but it looks like my first race will be Aug 9th instead. I have to work a 12 hour shift on the 26th. The store by law must have a licenced optician on duty if it's open. We only have three and one is going to be on vacation that week. So no race.

Walk/run/rest strong guys.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good Morrrrrrrnnnningggggg! Where is everybody? Hopefully, your're sleeping in.

Debra....Hellboy II? I haven't even heard of this movie. We're in the pattern right now of waiting for movies on DVD. The one you saw sounds scary! We just rented The Bucket List this weekend. We both thought it was good and of course, I cried. It looks like you and I both are odd man out on the personality test--along with Stacie. Apparently, while the sports minded people are sitting around discussing the race and drinking a beer, I'll be asking everyone if I can refill their cup, get them something else or giving a massage! Oh, and I'll probably have tears in my eyes as I recap my race experience.:lmao: :rotfl: The funny thing is---that is sooooo me! I like taking care of people. So, will you being the "scientist" type be sitting around analyzing all of us?

Connie...Funny story about your cats. My SIL has a cat and when we went over there this weekend it was hissing at us so much that my DS2 kept calling it a Tiger!

Vic...Back from Tampa and getting right back on schedule. Those skirt chaser races do sound like fun!

Stacie, Amy, Mike, Lisa, Dave, Wendy, Beth, Jeanne, and anybody I missedHave a great day!

Yesterday was a rest day and DH and I did yard work all day. Today it's back to the TM for an easy 3. Take care all.
