Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Good morning Lean Meaners. Quick in and out for me this morning as I am off for the Relay for Life soon.

Dave: Yes, I have one 15 minute break and a half hour lunch that I am forced to take. I do core work during the 15 minutes and I do yoga stretches with my lunch. Kind of anal I know.... ::yes:: I also get up to get water or coffee during the day so I do stretch. I do my wrist stretches in the morning and at night. So, yes, I am a good girl and I don't just sit until I cramp up which when you are paid by the line you type, is very tempting. :surfweb:

Wendy: :scared1: I have had that hair cut but I did it on purpose. I also, at one point had one side of my head shaved and purple with the other side long. (Stop laughing Dave) My rebellious stage. I think if anyone can pull it off, you can pull it off. ;)

AmyKab: Love highlights. My hair is a reddish tone with serious bleach blonde highlights right now. I love the stark contrast. It is lots of fun and I don't even have to blow it dry. I have baby fine hair so it is dry before I finish getting dressed pretty much. I do, however, use a flat iron to pull the blondes out.

Vic: Yay for new appliances or should we say yay for Marilyn's new appliances?? I love the smooth cooktop that we bought a few years ago. I also put down marble tile in the kitchen which most people advise against but, hey, I have only broken one dish on it...:headache:

Mike: So good to have you and your motivation back with us. Maybe that was what I was missing, Mikeavation....:lmao: Soooo, how beautiful was Hawaii??

Nancy and Beth: Have fun in Orlando but I agree, no WDW...:scared1: Not even for a day...:scared1: Talk about snarky, I would be the Queen of Snark!!!! Frak, frak, frak....:lmao: okay that is too much fun.

Everyone else...well I promised to cut it short so I am going to just say hi and have a great weekend everyone!!!

As for me, well, Relay for Life today. I have a hard time with opening ceremonies with the survivor walk. I wish my dad was there to do it with me. During the walk, the put the pics of all the nonsurvivors on a large screen which hurts more for me. I do this for my dad but I truly WISH I could do it WITH him instead. I still miss him very much, no matter the self-esteem thing. As I said, I have forgiven him for it. DH says that no matter what we did or lived through in order to get us to this point had to have been a good thing...right...:cloud9: My dad did start the healthy active lifestyle for me, involving me in sports and then in his later years, volleyball and biking. So today I will thank him for that and honor his memory.

Enough bummer talk..I do plan on getting my 9 miles in this weekend. I will run for an hour by myself and then walk with DH at least once for an hour. I need to watch my intake today (i.e. water versus coffee) as I fight with the need to hydrate over the need to stay awake. I hope everyone gets their steps in today...

Oh, and Debra, you are nearing the 4 month mark for ToT....and 4 months 6 days to my birthday......:cool1: :bday: party:

Hummmm, Lisa, that rebel hair due, brings back those visuals of you dancing on the bar. So Madanna has nothing on the princess.;)

4 months to Party Panda!!!:woohoo:

Happy Panda:hippie:

Dave and Lisa, the good news is -- everyone loves the hat! :rotfl: One of my developers even said I was "rockin' the hat" -- he's about 19 I think. (OK, he's probably closer to 30, but at my age, most of the world looks 19 or younger. :) )

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone's weekend is going well! :wave2:

I ended up doing my C25K this morning. It went really well and I am ready to get on with week 2 on Monday!

I had to pick DD up early from daycare yesterday since she was a bit  and she took a nap when we got home. I was super tired and I laid down. Before I knew it I had slept for over 2 hours. I figure I must have really needed that sleep, I am not a napper usually.

It's been raining here ALL DAY! (also found out DD has a strong dislike for umbrellas. Her reaction when DH carried her to the car under one : :scared1: :scared1:)

DD and I went to the mall after we dropped DH off at the airport for his flight. I broke my promise to myself to not buy her any clothes until after her birthday. It's ok if it's on sale right? :rolleyes1 I would be totally embarassed to share how many outfits DD has. I just can't do it.

We got DD's new jogger stroller last night and If i can get it together (must everything require assembly??), we'll get out tomorrow for a few miles with the Garmin!

It sounds like DD is waking up from her siesta so I''ll catch up with everyone later!

Cheers,
Amy

2 mile run, 11 mile bike, 2 mile run.

1:04:48

Beat my goal of 1:05:00 and placed 85th overall!

Times were as follows:

Run 1 16:02
Transition 1 1:09
Bike 30:50
Transition 2 0:54
Run 2 15:55
Total 1:04:48

Interestingly, while the second run felt worse than the first, it was 7 seconds faster.

This years time was 9:32 faster than last year (which was also my first endurance event of any kind (unless you include my first marriage)) ;)

Compared to last year, each run was about a minute faster, and the bike was 7:12 faster...the running difference must be training, and the bike is due to spending money on equipment, since during last years event I was on a mountain bike, and I bought a road bike for triathlon training

Time to nappy nap!

Mike

Wow, the Lean Meaners had a busy weekend!!

Mike: Congratulations on the duathlon. All your hard work is paying off in minutes shaved!! Yay for that...:woohoo:

Amykab: :wizard: to your DD. I hope she is feeling better. And, pssst, my DD had wayyy too many clothes too. She was an only child for 7 years. Oh, wait, she still has too many clothes...:rotfl:

Wendy: I believe you do rock the hat. I think that if anyone would rock a hat, it would sure be you. Time to experiment with different hats. We will call this your "hat phase"...

Dave: I had the lace gloves, the belts, the skirts, yep, you name it. Madonna had nothing on me fer sure dude. Oh and my dad LOVED that phase....not....:rolleyes1

I don't think anyone else has been on with any news since I posted last so I will just send a shout out to everyone in Lean Meanerland. :goodvibes

From the Great North Woods...I am still in my stupor from this weekend. I got in 8 miles, 6 running and 2 walking during the Relay. We cooked and served and raised almost $8,000 for cancer research so yay us :woohoo: . The Relay has grown so much over the 3 years I have been participating. Our team started out with 15 people and we are now over 30 strong. :cool1: I took yesterday off with only 5 hours of sleep and none of it very restful. Sleeping in the front seat of DH pickup was not the most comfy place, especially with him in there too!!! The 16-U softball coach is a team member and he asked DD13 if she wanted to play in the tournament yesterday which she was very excited to do. She did well and they ended up being runners up due to the game being called on account of severe T-storms. She was invited back to play anytime the 14-U team did not have a game. So yay for her. My summer schedule is still in the works with soccer camp and gymnatics camp this morning and softball practice this afternoon. Somewhere in there I have 3-5 miles with hill sprints so good luck on that, I know. I am feeling like I need to buckle down. I have gained another pound back over the weekend. I was being very consistent when I was losing weight and I feel the need to find that again. My workouts have become very sporadic. The busier the kidlets get, the less consistent I get so I need to revamp my scheduling and see where my exercise fits in best for me. So more work.....:headache: :confused3

Good morning princess. I know just how you feel about being sleep challanged. I had to get up at 4am yesterday for a drive up to Louisville for continuing education classes. I need 6 hours a year to keep my licence active.

I came home and mowed the yard, push mowing a .6 acre yard is not the best fun when you are already tired. I was in one of those snarky moods where all the work to do around the house is just overwhelming and I used up a day off with the classes.

But after a good nights sleep I feel much better and ready to face the world again. I know the world won't really stop turning if I don't get all the chores done.

It's raining so it will be a gym day. Walk, weights and the mandatory stretching.

Mike you did good dude:worship:

Have an awesome day y'all.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good Morning!!!

Vic...Wow! What a great workout w/ your Chief Deputy! Stairs would Kill me!!! Yay for progress on your kitchen remodel! New appliances is exciting...at least for me anyway! lol!

Mike...Nice workout schedule there while you were gone! Great job on the duathon! Congrats on beating your goal!

Deb...Thanks for the nice words! Ah. Lots of news on your friends fronts! So sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis...no matter how easily treatable, it's still not an easy things to go through. :wizard: for him and his wife and family! Look at how far you come since last year! You should be so proud!

Wendy...So sorry to hear about your hair cut! I know that's frustrating.

Lisa...Glad to hear RFL went well! If anyone can figure out their workout schedule, it's you. You have such a busy schedule as is with all your kiddie's activities. That's good thing though. They are active and thus more healthier! I know you'll figure it out! OH and purple hair!

Panda...The chores will always be there. Doesn't it seem that when we think we are finally caught up, we find out we are not??? That's life thought with us home owners though. Hope you have a great workout at the gym!

Everyone else... Hi! Hey Ya'll! Hello!

For me... We had a nice weekend at the coast. My nephew enjoyed himself and was pretty welll behaved. I took me a nice long nap yesterday afternoon. :cloud9: DH woke me up at 3:30am this morning to tell me he couldn't sleep and then...I couldn't go back to sleep. Go figure. So, I am super tired today. My SIL called at 5:15am to see if I wanted to walk with her, but I just couldn't do it this morning. I plan to aquabox tonight anyway.

Tomorrow I'll have to get up really early, but I hope to get back on track w/ C25K. Dh has a neurologist appt first thing tomorrow. After his neurologist appt, I'll get the car for my gastrointeroloist appointment. I am actually looking forward to this appointment and hope to get some answers.

Hope everyone has a great day!
Stacie

Stacie Sounds like your beach weekend was fun! Thanks for offering to scan the MFM plan, I actually think I am going to just go and buy it this week since so many people have recommended it.

Debra Thanks for your rec on MFM, I am definitely going to purchase it! I strive to keep a balance between work, exercise and quality time with DD and DH. I can't do a plan where it is totally going to take over everything else.

DH has his interview this morning, he feels good about it. At least this time when we're job searching, we're not under pressure. The last couple times have been when one of us was finishing grad school and we're kind of more forced to take what we could get. I like being in the position of being able to be more picky about location and salary. If this one doesn't work out, he's found a couple more to apply for. So sorry to hear about your friends cancer diagnosis. Thinking good thoughts for him and his family! :wizard:

Wendy Sorry to hear about your hair! Hats are cool though! :cool2:

Lisa It sounds like RFL was a huge success! :cool1: My parents and extended family did one in Vermont this weekend. My 16 year old cousin is a survivor as is my grandmother.

I am hoping to work up the nerve to get some reddish highlights the next time around. My hair is darkblonde/light brown, so blonde highlights work for me and look pretty natural, but I want to do something a bit more drastic.

DD and I got in almost 3 miles last night in between storms! DH hiked almost 12 miles in rocky mountain national park yesterday and saw all sorts of cool wildlife! I was so jealous. He also felt it necessary to send me picture messages of all the different beers he was drinking!

I actually have real work to do again today. I  making up reference lists first thing in the morning!

Have a good day everyone!:yay:

Amy

Hi y'all! Hope you had a great weekend. We headed to the lake and the weather was gorgeous. I made the silly, but fun, decision to tube with my kiddos. The next two days were filled with soreness in muscles that I didn't know existed. I felt so tight that I thought that surely I must look like Jillian in the Biggest Loser, but nope, I still look like me. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm trying to keep up, but this thread really moved these last few days.

Wendy...Sorry about the haircut. I agree that you must be rockin' the hat!

Mike...Yay, you're back! And congrats on the duathlon. Awesome time, dude.:cool1:

Lisa...Way to go with the RFL. Sounds like it was an emotional journey. Poo, Poo on sleeping in the front seat of a pick up with DH----I'm sure that was comfortable.

Debra...Sorry that writing has taken a back burner. Maybe when DH gets back you will be able to take that retreat. I will be sending prayers towards your friends. My DH and I were on that journey almost 15 years ago. My oldest was 3 months old. We tell everyone that we are better people after having lived through cancer (and we mean it). And I've been pregnant 8 times since my DH had his surgery (we lost 5 to miscarriage). Sorry everybody for TMI. It was just a big worry that we wouldn't be able to have more kids. Anyway, they'll be in our thoughts.

Vic...Oooohhh...new appliances. I love my smooth cooktop--it's a breeze to clean.

AmyKab...Did you get your Garmin? I hope DD is feeling better. Love, love, love, my jogging stroller!:woohoo:

Stacie...Good luck with the Dr.

Everybody I missed...have a great day.
I'm going to ask my DS how to post the shark pic.

Tracey I can't believe I forgot to mention that I did get my 205! I am in love with it! :lovestruc  it feels a bit bulky on my wrist, but I think I'll get used to it. I love knowing exactly what my pace is! I set it to beep if I fall too far below sweeper pace!

I am curious though,I am surprised that the contacts for charging it are on the back.Does anyone know if repeated exposure to sweat affects them?:confused3

Okie-dokie! Here's my DS8 and his shark encounter.

Picture050-1.jpg

Oops, did I forget to mention that it was only 15 inches long?:rotfl2: :lmao:
This pic cracks me up because it's so him! KWIM.

Dave and Lisa, the good news is -- everyone loves the hat! :rotfl: One of my developers even said I was "rockin' the hat" -- he's about 19 I think. (OK, he's probably closer to 30, but at my age, most of the world looks 19 or younger. :) )

Gosh, Wendy, you'd fit in great on Team Ohana......that's where all the "cougars" are! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (I bet your haircut is adorable!)

Tracy: LOVE the shark pic! So, so funny....and your son's expression is just precious!

Vic: Your remodeling plans sound great--very reasonable and well-planned. DOOD and I try to avoid as much debt as possible, and your strategy sounds like it will accomplish that for you. It also sounds like you're doing a lot of the work yourself? If so, :worship: It's sad, but I'm the handy one in the household.

Wendy: I love the idea of a Bath & Body Works treat for myself. I'm not much of a girly girl (go figure), but I do so love to smell nice and clean! And it's a good kind of decadent. I'm spoiled on the tea front, as I live less than 2 blocks away from the Te Cafe, a local tea house. Oh, and I do the movie-bribe thing, too! Yeah for my classic iPod! All great suggestions, and much appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your haircut, though. I've got a less-than-attentive stylist who, for some reasons, hasn't quite got the bob down right. It's not the same problem, but I sympathize. I can't imagine you don't look fabulous even in super-short hair, though. I mean, I only have your avatar pic to go by, but you've got great bone structure!

Dave: Thanks for the racewalking suggestion. I have thought about picking it up sometime. Right now, I'm a fitness walker--is that the right term?--with my everyday life. Basically, I try to walk everywhere if it's within 3 miles--and most of what I do isn't that far. I might play with racewalking (hope that doesn't sound too condescending) before I start marathon training; who knows, I might get a taste for it? Regardless, I think you're all right in that I need to do something new.

You snarky, Dave? That's an anomaly. I imagine the combination of continuing ed classes with mowing would do that to me. How many hours did you rack up for your license? I hope the classes are useful at least, if for nothing more than networking/catching up on new developments.

Lisa: Don't you love frak? Now, try mother-frakker and see if that makes you giggle. (It does that for me!) It sounds like your dad, in addition to everything else, gave you some very good gifts to get you through this life. Valuing a healthy lifestyle is a big one, I think. I'm glad you got to do the Relay for Life. The amount you raised--$8000--is fabulous, and the growth in your group's size, equally so! P.S. Soccer camp, gymnastics, softball, oh my! How do you fit all that in?!

AmyK: Yeah for all the progress you're making on C25K. :yay: And double yay for loving your Garmin. I wish I could answer your questions, but alas, I am Garmin-less. (Although I own a Nike+ as a stopgap.) I find it interesting that DD does not like umbrellas. I wonder why. Maybe it's a visibility/eyeline kind of thing. Did you introduce her to Mary Poppins yet?

I'm a "natural" redhead, every 4-5 weeks or so. ;) I love it. Really, I was a natural redhead at some point, pre-chemo, and there's still a reddish color to my untreated hair. I just like the fact that my stylist, like Emeril, can kick it up a notch if I ask. I believe every woman should try the redhead lifestyle at least once! People actually expect you to be passionate, volatile, and temperamental. It can be quite fun, especially if you're laid back. (Not that I am....:rolleyes1)

Thinking continued good thoughts for DH. It IS a nice place to be, where you can evaluate a job offer based on your household's quality of life. I'm in a similar position since our relocation. I'm underemployed right now, looking for my niche, and able to take my time because of DOOD's position. (Just had an interview today, as a matter of fact, for a position I think I'm lukewarm about.) So I hope this job is one DH is offered, is excited about, and the relocation offers all sorts of opportunities for your family!

Mike: Congratulations on your Metlife Duathlon, exceeding your goal, and your terrific placement! It sounds like you've made a lot of progress from last year and can pinpoint what you're doing right and what you'd like to improve. I'm no expert--don't play one on TV--but your transitions seemed really fast! :thumbsup2 P.S. Marriage as an endurance event. Hah! My first one....like Death Valley. Not up to it.

Stacie: I'm so glad you had a nice weekend in Stacy, and with your DN. I love naptimes, when I take them, but I often have troubles getting to sleep afterwards. I'm sending you and your DH pixiedust: for your doctors' appointments. Getting answers would be a GREAT first step. Btw, I didn't make it to Gluuteny this weekend. :( Rather, I walked right by there this weekend, but I hadn't earned a treat--so I passed. Hopefully sometime this week. (But I'm proud that I passed for that reason.::yes:: )

Tracey: Now I'm picturing you looking like Jillian. I love her arms and shoulders. (Maybe that should be a goal for me?) Can you believe I've never been tubing? It sounds like such fun. Do you have pics? Because I loved the one with the shark! 15 inches or not, that boy's brave!

And  for you and DH. I had no idea of your family's struggles. Not TMI, as you all know I'm a big sharer with my WISH family. And you are so strong and positive with regards everything, as I imagine everyone in your family to be. I hope you know just how much I admire you! :worship:

Jeanne: Hey, we should have a "cougar" get-together at a race. I bet you the young boys wouldn't be able to keep their eyes on the road if they had us to look at! :dance3: (Your DS exempted of course, because we don't hunt within our own pride.)

As for me: I think the funk might be lifting, a bit. Today was the first day I ran where I didn't dread it. It wasn't "fun," mind you, but at least I had more of a feeling of "get r done" than I'd been having. It's a start. I'd tried to be really consistent in my sleeping and eating habits--which have been askew--and that helps. (I know, I know, I NEED to do this every day. I blame it on DOOD's absence--mostly because he's not here to defend himself. :rotfl:)

Eating was fairly on track today, but it's been a week since I weighed in. :scared1: I'm a daily-scale person, normally, as I really rely on externals to tell me where I'm at. Sometimes I think I have slight body dysmorphia. I've weight anywhere from 15 pounds less to 50 pounds more, but when I look in the mirror I always think I look pretty much the same. Same applies to wrinkles, btw. I have to make a really conscious effort to assess my body--not just in terms of weight, but muscle tone, proportions, etc. It's pretty convenient in some ways, and it means I don't usually obsess about my appearance. At the same time, this funhouse mirror image of myself makes it really easy for me to ignore weight gain without the scale, my clothes, a tape measure. So tomorrow will be a scale day for me. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good morning Lean Meaners. :goodvibes

So first up, Jet Blue changed my flight to WDW in October (hey Dave, note 4 months to ToT!!!!) and we are now on a later fight but a direct one from Portland to Orlando. Yay and boo at the same time. We get in at 5:36 p.m. which means we will be skating in late to NSSHP and missing the LTT dinner. I will have to hook up with everyone on Saturday, somewhere......:dance3:

Debra: Yep, loving the frak, mother-frakker :lmao: :lmao: but all I can think of is frakin, snakin, crackin (anyone remember Muttley??) and then the snicker. So, no BG reference for me, just cartoons!!!

Yay for finding some semi-mojo back. I am right now in the "just get out there and get it done" mode. It seems to have slowed my pace down a bit but at least I am still working at it. There sure are days when I feel I could just go back to the way it was before instead of actually moving but then I remember how much better I feel about myself now as opposed to then and I gain a little motivation.

AmyKab: Go red!!! Not just the campaign slogan to be good to your heart, just really....go red. My mom is a firey redhead (and yes all those things that Debra listed) so maybe I pull it off as natural. My hair is just yucky plain brown, no highlights, very flat and not shiny....hence my coloring my hair. It has nothing to do with gray (which BTW I have no idea how many I have..nor do I want to :rolleyes1 ) I just absolutely despite my natural color. I have been blonde, black with blonde, red, chestnut with really red (the actual color not hair color) and probably many others. Currently, I am just a hint of red that you really only notice in the sun with very very blonde streaks in it. I have to say it is one of my favorites.

Tracey: Ah, Jillian's shoulders. In my dreams. I am trying to build mine up. DD13 has those shoulders but I guess I am not willing to add 9 years of gymnastics to my regimen in order to get them. I lift heavy shoulders but my pullup days are done and over with so I may never see those. Maybe we should all picture ourselves with those arms/shoulders......:cloud9: Oh and loving the shark pic. Quite the adventurer you have there. My question is, was it slimey???

Stacey: Yay for a good weekend and :wizard: for the docs. That must be coming right up. Answers are good...::yes::

Dave:  for you and the wonderful princess Erica.

Mike: Can you post your after-workout drink again. I seem to have lost my sticky note...

Everyone else: :listen: eeeh, I can't hear ya.....:rotfl: Hope you are all happy and healthy.

From the Great North Woods, well I ran yesterday. My stellar 10:23 pace for 3.13 miles was just so impressive I cannot tell you....not....:headache: I took off keeping it slow and easy at about an 11 minute mile and ended up at 10:23 so I guess you can look at that as a win. I got out and did it, and that is what really matters to me. I am supposed to fit in 4-6 today and hopefully the weather will hold out for me. I also need to desperately find my garden in the midst of the weeds that have sprouted with all this rain. The scrimmage for tonight was canceled which gives me a little leeway and the cleaning lady comes today which helps too so I really have no excuse. Let's hope I don't make one....:rolleyes1

Oh and, we lost another team member off the Super Goofs which is kind of messing with me today too. Do any of the other teams seem to be having a huge turnover? We only have 7 original members left...:worried: The replacements have rocked (:lovestruc Mike) and it is not the miles, I guess I worry about my captain abilities more...:( Okay, enough of my troubles...onto bigger and better things (like work)....popcorn:: Later days Lean Meaners!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

As far as recovery nutrition, what seems to be working really well for me is a big glass of water, a bagel with peanut butter, and a shake made of

1 cup of soy milk
1/2 cup plain yogurt
4-5 frozen strawberries
1 banana
2 TBS ground flax seed
1-2 (depending on workout intensity) scoops whey protein isolate
I also put in a tablespoon or two of some Ghiradelli's (spelling?) hot cocoa mix to make it yummylicious.

I actually premix a weeks worth of the dry ingredients to cut down on the number of containers I open every morning...

Mike

Mike, thanks for the suggestion but I'm not allowed to touch the blender. The one and only time I was going to make smoothies, I went to the market spent about $100 on great ingredients and loaded the blender. It wasn't pretty I'm still not sure how the dog got splattered with mixed berry smoothy, causing her to shake all over our white kitchen. The blender appears to have emploded after it ate the wooden spoon. Don't expect to be served smoothies at my house if you come to visit. We eat out most of the time for a reason.

Lisa that pace would excite me. A dream for me is to eventually break 30 min in the 5K.

Chef Panda:hippie:

GOOD MORNING Leaner Peeps!!!

:moped: Just quick drive by to let you all know I battled myself out of bed this morning and did my C25K Week 2, Day1. I had to rush, rush, rush after to get ready work and did not have time to stretch properly. :headache: I think I will find an empty office later on and try to do some of my physical therapy stretches.

Dave...I wanted to mention that your YARC post got me thinking...I've always thought it wasn't really fair that smokers got 15 min breaks and we didn't. I don't get up often from my desk (unless it is to potty) so I've decided to actually calendar 2 - 15 min breaks. 1 in the Am and 1 mid-afternoon. I will take a quick walk or mostly likely try to do my Physical Theraphy exercises or stretching. Great ideas! :thumbsup2

I have to run, but will be back to catch up w/ everyone after my Doc appt.

Later!
Stacie

Good Morning, Lean Meaners!

W2D1 went well yesterday. I did 25 minutes of the intervals for a total of 2 miles in that time. Overall I did 3 miles in 39:44, I had almost a mile of warmup/cool down. I don't know how much more I am going to get in this week with having to pick DH up at the airport during Tampa's rush hour traffic :scared1: , DD's bday tomorrow and having to pack the 3 of us to go away for 8 days.

I got my pilates DVD's yesterday. I may have time to attempt one tonight. Is the mat a must?? I don't mind buying one, but I don't know if I'll be able to get one today.

Our vacation should be pretty active. We've planned hikes, whitewater rafting, and my IL's have a HUGE hill for a driveway so I thought I might get in some hill sprints. And I have my 5K on the 4th. I am going to try to put together a patriotic running outfit! Any excuse to buy new clothes!

Can I just say that I am starting to feel like this :scared1: about traveling for 10 hours in a car with a 1 year old!! A few months ago when looking at plane tickets vs driving assuming gas at 4.25/gal it seemed like a really good idea to save several hundred dollars by driving. Somehow that isn't all that comforting now!

Dh's job interview went well. He actually ended up having to do some sort of presentation and writing sample on the fly. He'll know this week one way or the other. I am VERY glad he'll be home tonight. I have even more respect and admiration for single mommies after the past few days!

Lisa I am totally jealous of your pace! I hope that by the end of C25K, I can do about 3 miles outright somewhere in 10-12 min/mile range. Good Luck with your run today!

Debra You and Lisa pretty much have me convinced to do something red with my hair the next time around! :)

Mike Great job with the duathlon :yay: :yay:

Tracey Love the pic of your DS with the shark!

Stacie, Dave,Wendy,Jeanne,Vic, and anyone I missed :yay: :wave2:

Have a great day!

Amy Clean the contacts on your Garmin with a damp cloth or rubbng alcolhal from time-to-time. Sweat makes it weird after a while. Otherewise, it's not problem cause you are supposed to sweat!!! -- I have very, vey dark hair. It was black when I was a kid and then as I got older it lightened up.....it's pretty dang light in a lot of places, now!! :rotfl2: I use a 10 min color that isn't red, but pecan, but it shimmers in red hues!

Lisa Definitely remember Muttley. I still use his "cuss words" once in while. We are having a lot of turnover on the team, too. People come and go. I had one join the team and then never report in. I think that's pretty normal though. It is a long time to maintain your enthusiasm. Shoot! For most folks, 2 hours is long time to maintain their enthusiasm these days.

Stacey Good luck! LOTS OF PD! Hoping there is a solution!

Dave You da man! But I guess you making me a strawberry margherita is just a dream.......:drinking1

Vic Oh I LOVE remodeling! But not for a long, long, long time after it's completed! ::yes::

Wendy Sorry about the haircut, but you are such dynamite in a delightful personality package, that I am absolutely sure you can not only do a hat, but do it in great style and fashion!

Bodybugg update: I have managed to up my calorie burn from 1900 calories burned on a rest day to 2200 calories burned!!! I haven't lost more weight, yet, but I can SEE a difference. I am absolutely certain that the bodybugg and the game combined have helped me tremendously!
