Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Well in that case Visiting Panda, I better high tail it out of here. :lmao:

Well lets see, I am one of the honored YARC princesses so I would have to go with the normal part. Although I do work at home and it is clothing optional. :rotfl:

On that happy note I shall go take a cold shower and head off to work.:)

Sorry about hijacking your thread with a morning of Panda silliness, I promise to be better.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Visiting Panda:hippie:

I didn't mention anything about your part time job, wearing the orange robe, and beating the tamborine in the airport for spare change. I couldn't really make out what you were saying, something about "hairy christians".

Its not a robe, its a "safety" orange jumpsuit I wear when volunteering my time to help clean up state properties. Just pay no attention to that "Correctional" type writing on the back. Someone must have picked up the jumpsuits at an unclaimed freight auction. :confused3

Jean--Feed your son! :goodvibes

Stacie

He's 28 and I still send care packages! Whenever he comes home, which is usually only around the holidays, his favorite thing to do is open the pantry or refrigerator and just gaze lovingly at everything inside....he doesn't know what to attack first! He is very well educated with a Bachelors from NYU's Tisch School (TV and Film) and a Masters in Cinematography from the AFI in Hollywood. He just doesn't have a steady job because he keeps hoping for the "big one". Right now he does alot of music videos for artists you and I have probably never heard of..... but it pays the rent. Some of them are really quite good from a cinematography standpoint. Here are 2 of my favorites: (sorry, i'm a proud momma)

Hey Lean Meaners!

Hoping everyone is doing well.

It's been a little WTO this week. I have an audit on Tuesday that I have to prepare for, and I had to administer some discipline this morning (the uncool part of my job). So, I've been a bit on the busy side.

I did get some running in this week. 4 miles on Tuesday and 3 last night. Feet are feeling better each time I get out there. There's hope yet. :)

Everyone - Keep up the great work!!

Maria - Sunshine on the way. Well, not today as it's raining. But, soon!

:)

First, a big shout-out and THANK YOU to all my Lean Meaner buddies! You are unfailingly supportive to me, always reassuring, and just plain fun. I can't tell you how much that means to me. :lovestruc And thanks for tolerating my Oscar madness. It'll pass soon, I promise!

Beth: I hope today's TM went well and the mini-break gave you just the kick you needed. Keep focused over the weekend, and I'll bet the weight loss starts right up again.

Stacie: I'm so glad you had a good work Friday. Even happier to hear the good news about Matt and driving. That's got to be a big relief to both of you.

Lisa: Thanks for the inspiring comments. I, too, get antsy, cranky, downright snarky when I can't work out regularly. The team aspect is just new to me. But you're absolutely right--the benefits of a team challenge FAR outweigh any weirdness that comes with my past colliding with my present. Your field hockey tournament sounds like lots of fun, except for the driving part.

Maria: Great job with the consistency of the workouts and with the food. I'm envious that you're able to step away from the scale. I'm working on that, trying to evaluate myself through other measures, but the scale is right there, staring at me every morning... Good luck on the sleepover--don't know why they call it that--and I'm sure DS will have a great time. You an DH, well, you'll be creating memories. As for your cats, you know cats. They hold grudges.

Oh, and erudite! :lmao: I am so anything but! I love that you use the word, though. DOOD is the only other person I know who uses it, and I tease him mercilessly for it. ("Erudite? Who even uses that word anymore? Someone has his Ph.D.....") And now I get to (lovingly) tease someone else! :rotfl: :goodvibes:

Cindy: You do sound like you're on the mend--yea! And I think 3 days of healthy eating is also great news and means you're getting into the groove. (And today's song lyrics running through my head are compliments of Madonna.)

WWDave and NEPatsBill: It's so nice to see you two up to your shenanigans here! :thumbsup2

Jeanne: I watched the videos and like what your DS is doing with color & lighting, especially playing with natural lighting and/or the illusion of natural lighting. I was particularly struck by the second video, "Suspension" as it really showcased his work. (Leviton's "Summer's the Worst" is good, too, but the narrative and its hook overshadows your son's work--not a bad thing, just not what I was looking at.) He reminds me of someone, but I can't place him at this moment. Does he have any influences? And is he in Hollywood now, NYC, or elsewhere? Just curious.

Vic: What's this WTO thing? Especially disciplinary WTO. No fun, no fun at all. But :woohoo: for being able get in some running. I'm so glad your feet are getting a little better each day. I can't believe your feet (and mine) are taking this long to recuperate!

As for me: We did the check for the screening times; AMC is allowing a whopping 20 minutes between the films tomorrow, probably in an attempt to keep everyone eating concession-food junk. We're skipping Juno (seen it, thought it was cute, but not worth a 2nd go-round), but that doesn't show until 7 p.m., which is when we'll grab dinner & try to do some power walking. So that means from 11.00 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. we'll be in the theatre.

And that's the reason for snacks/mini-meals. I went to the grocery today & stocked up on nuts, string cheese, quiet fruits, and a bar. I'll probably bring in a peanut butter or maybe a hummus sandwich, don't know yet. Again, quiet foods that don't smell. I'm making a trail mix with pretzels, dried fruit, a little chocolate for a treat. I also bought junk food for DOOD (peanut M&Ms and mini-Reese's cups.) But following Lisa's suggestion, I've already portioned them into single-serving sizes. That way, DOOD can make reasonable decisions instead of mindlessly eating. That's what we're both trying to avoid, I think: sitting in the movie theater, unconsciously munching away without regard for what we put in our bodies. It's happened too often in the past, whether it's at all-day film festivals or during airport travel days.

We're also planning on working out before we go, putting in a couple of hours at the gym and that eating/stretch/walk break during Juno. I did circuit & XT today and tomorrow I'll run. So you won't hear from me at all that day, because we won't be back until after 11.00 p.m. A full day of sitting. Boy, is Sunday's yoga gonna be fun! :rolleyes1

Hi all!!!
Wow it was a busy morning over here with the cow tipping, tractor tipping, and orange correctional jumpsuit conversations.:lmao: And no one mentioned the dress code and that I was expected to be normal.

Panda & Bill:Glad you stopped by and added some laughs to the day.:goodvibes
Maria:Good luck with those boys sitting quietly and reading:rotfl2: (I write this as I watch my ceiling fan shaking from my 4 boys upstairs). You are a great mom to take on a slumber party.:worship:
Jeanne:Wow, awesome videos. I love the second one "Suspension". The story line is great and I love the light and shadows streaming into the barn.
Lisa:Drive safe to the field hockey tournament. Have fun.
Vic:WTG with your runs this week and Hooray for happy healthy feet.
Stacie:Thanks for the info on Runningwarehouse. That is wonderful news about Matt's test results.:yay:
Debra: 5 hours on the TM? Wow! "A high tolerance for boredom" somehow I seriously doubt that. I bet your mind is going a million miles a minute!!!! Have a great time with your hubby at the movies. That sounds like a perfect day to me.:goodvibes
Beth:Sometimes a day off is exactly what you need. Hope you enjoyed it.
Cindy:You are so right about the intervals. It really does break up the time.
I was on the treadmill today and did some strength training. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get outside if it gets above 30.

Have a great week-end everybody!!!!

Good morning Lean Meaners!

I think we're starting to dry out around here today. Around 6 inches the past two days. Not going to complain since we've been in a drought the past few years.

Debra - WTO = Work Takes Over. LTO = Life Takes Over. These were invented by Lily. Have fun at the movies.

Tracey - Why are you up so early?! ;) :)

Y'all have a great weekend!! :)

Tracey - Why are you up so early?! ;) :)

I was the last post last night. I think everyone must have been out having a fun Friday night. At 5am this morning I was still snuggled up in bed. Our littlest guy didn't wake up until 6.:cheer2: :cheer2: That's sleeping in around here.
Happy Saturday.

Oops!

Guess I don't know the difference between my AMs and PMs. :lmao:

Good Morning Lean Meaners! Things were active around here.....thanks Bill and WWDave!!! You are the life of the party! Welcome back Bill! Me missed you.

Debra: So, you are packed and ready to go? Have a great time, movie watching is the best! My dfamily and I got one in yesterday, we saw the Bucket List which ended up making oldest ds and dh cry at the end. We all liked it.

Stacie: Good news about dh......I am glad to hear it!

Tracie: Always like when the boys sleep in.....doesn't happen very often around here.:sad2:

Big Vic: Well, I guess we all have to work for a living......to bad it isn't all DW trips and races. Work isn't always fun, but I am one of the lucky ones! I get to work with PaDisneyFan every day.:cloud9: Makes my work life much better!

WWDave: Glad you dropped by.....you always brighten my day.:lovestruc

As for me, I decided to step on the scale today (not my normal scale day, but what the heck!:confused3 ) Well, I did get rewarded for some reason. I did do 5 hard miles on the TM late last night and also did 1 hour of weights, but I didn't think it would make much difference, you know??? Well, what do you know? I am now down 15 pounds. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Can't tell you how happy that made me. I haven't lost a thing for a week, and now all the sudden down 2 more pounds. Who knew? Now, I have to keep on keeping on the right path......it will probably be another droughtful week. I just have to stay on track and eventually it will come down!

Beth

Good morning, everyone! I usually don't post much on weekends but I have to take care of charting Team Ohana's progress so thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Deb, Tracey: thanks for viewing the videos! He has tons more but most were shot with really low budgets and it shows. Very often he will work for food and travel expenses only just to get the stuff out there to be seen. In response to your question, he now lives solely in NYC. For the past few years he tried to be bi-coastal with apartments (if you could call them that) in both NY and LA, but it got way too expensive. He can always find work in Hollywood as a grip or some other sort of assistant and that pays relatively well for day work. It's just not what he wants to spend his time doing. Most of the NY projects allow him to use his creative abilities, but don't pay much. Hopefully, it will all come together. BTW, the mermaid video was pretty much shot on a miniature set and one of the video magazines had a story on it:

Sorry to hijack the thread....we now return to our regularly scheduled program.

Deb: great job on planning all the snack foods...you are so disciplined! We are going to see "Vantage Point" today and I have to mentally psyche myself up to NOT buy popcorn! I just keep telling myself that it never tastes as good as it smells and I can smell it for free...in terms of both money and calories.

have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning y'all. Since I found out yesterday that this was the clothing optional thread, (Yea Bill and Vic, you didn't think I'd find out) and you have lots of pretty princessess I better start hanging around more.

Did I ever tell y'all about the flag football streaking? Ok if you insist. This might benefit some of the rest of you sometime anyway.

I was playing flag football at a squadron picknic in Okinawa. I was wearing my running shorts, running shoes and no shirt. Well I had my flags tucked down in my shorts with the tails hanging out. I was running with the ball and an opposing player grabbed at my flags and caught my shorts instead. They ripped off except for the reinforced waist band. So I'm running with the football wearing now nothing but the waistband of my shorts and my shoes. It was a hit with the spectators who cheered and clapped, yes a few were laughing and pointing.

So remember if you play flag football don't wear just your running shorts unless you want to be the entertainment hit of the day.

Streaking off now Panda:hippie:

Wow, streaking Panda, that was probably a site to see.....never saw a naked panda!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Maybe somewhere someone caught that and put it on Youtube!!! I would like to see that.

Beth

Streaking pandas...:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :sad2: Must have been before the adult supervision.....

I found a quote in my running journal that I wanted to share with everyone:
"Never fear moving forward slowly, fear standing still." :flower3:

Have a great day everyone, I am headed 2.5 hours South to NH for a day long field hockey tournament. :cheer2:

Lisa: Have a good day at the field hockey tournament! Is it indoors??? Thought it was a bit early for it!

I got to run outside yesterday!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: It was pretty nice, and I didn't miss the dreadmill at all!!!!! I will plan to run outside again today too.....it's not too cold, and it's a nice break from the TM.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!!!

Beth

Good morning Lean Meaners!

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.

7 miles in the great outdoors this morning. Not a bad pace, 12:47, R4/W2. It was 45 degrees when I left the house and almost 60 by the time I got home. I can’t complain about the weather.

I wanted to test the feet before making a final decision on the race next week. They faired well, so I guess it’s a go.

WWDave – Come join us for “Topless Tuesdays” and “Thong Thursdays.” It’s gets crazy in here. :beach:

Beth – Do we really want to see a streaking Dave? :confused3 :lmao: Glad you could get outside and run.

Jeanneg – I have to agree about the red shorts. :sad2:

Lisa – I like that quote, and have fun at the hockey game.

::cop:
