Tracey: Yes, everything I put in my mouth is good for me. Especially chocolate! (Okay, maybe it's just good for my soul...) I hope you have a wonderful, frolicking, active weekend with your family!
Lisa: I hate you.

Just kidding--I know exactly what you mean by those last agonizingly slow loss of those last few pounds. But, really, you deserve all the credit for the loss. (And credit for making me look for my driver's license weight, which apparently the don't list on the PA D.L. My status as an organ donor, however, is quite prominently listed.) We're just along for the celebration!
I have to admit that I didn't have dark chocolate M&Ms as the theater didn't have them; they did carry dark chocolate Raisinets but I chose the chocolate-peanuts combo. I should be ashamed of myself!
Shan: Don't worry about the Girl Scout cookie talk; I find it oddly comforting to know that we all struggle with our sweet/salty/savory/hunger demons. For me, it's almost a relief. For a long time I had the impression that "real" athletes either led a monastic life--eating healthy all the time, never drinking, very controlled. Or they were those genetically strange creatures who ate all the junk food they wanted, drank & smoked in loud bars, burned the candle at both ends, and still ran 7 minute miles and were muscular but thin. Knowing that there are those of us who are real, "normal" athletes (using the term loosely for this group

) that are working bit by bit, inch by inch, mile by mile, on becoming Lean Meaners (& with all that entails) is inspiring to me. Even on the frustrating days, maybe especially then!
Bill: But we know you can do it!

Although going to the bathroom too often to do so might just put a crimp in your training, let alone your social life.
Beth: Wow, it sounds like yesterday was like a LR day (except not as rewarding) and today was all about recovery.

I think it's really great that your extra shift helped you appreciate your friends all the more. I know it made me appreciate nurses even more, too, and I tend to think of those in the profession as getting the short end of the health-care stick too often. And while it sounds like you had a bad eating day due to your schedule, and that led to exhaustion, you keep on looking ahead--because that's how you'll get ahead. Remember, the TM is better than beating yourself up for not running at all! I know you can do it!
As for me: Grocery shopping today! I picked up the flax seed for Lisa's bread recipe, so guess what I'm doing this weekend? You all know I can't cook but I love to bake, so I excited to try this one out. And there's something about the smell of fresh bread that makes me happy.
I'm also planning on making some banana bread: a loaf to freeze for later & a loaf to share with our landlady who lives below us. You just can't make too much bread, IMO.
