The good news: our photographer mailed the CD with photos today, so we should have them soon and I will officially start the wedding report! The bad news: the part in my computer that Jason was trying to replace doesn't fit exactly right so we needed to order an adapter, which will take another week or so to arrive. Boo, I really miss having my own computer
But in the meantime I figured I would start sharing some of the other pre-wedding stuff. Let's begin with the Thursday before, which was the Bachelorette Party! This was an interesting day. I spent some of the day shopping with my mom, picking up some last minute items and whatnot.
Then that afternoon I drove to the train station to pick up my pen pal, Martin, you was visiting all the way from Norway! It worked out that he and his mom were thinking about a trip to see New York City anyway, and he planned it so that he could come out to Long Island for the wedding! We've been writing back and forth for maybe about six years, but this was the first time we met. He turned out to be a complete sweetheart and everyone loved him!
In the evening, for the Bachelorette Party, we went to The Melting Pot to enjoy some melted cheese and chocolate. Of my five bridesmaids, I knew Linda was not going to be there since she was coming from PA and would not be around til the next day. However, about half an hour before we left another bridesmaid, Sarah, called and said she wouldn't be able to make it because her grandmother was sick and she was helping to take care of it. Well, the reservation was for five people, so what did we do? We brought Martin along!
Here's a guy that I've known for 6 years but only met in person for a few hours... and what do we do? We drag him along to a bachelorette party! Luckily we did not make him wear the bridesmaid t-shirt.

Sarah missed pretty much every wedding event except the wedding itself (which is kind of another story), so in many ways Martin actually was our fill-in bridesmaid! He was quite a good sport about it.
The Melting Pot was great. I ordered the Love Martini - very appropriate
It's hard to see in this picture but we got some of the chocolate that they flambe and set on fire, so of course everyone was trying to get a picture of the flames:
The Melting Pot was very nice and even helped us celebrate! They gave me this special plate for dessert:
After the Melting Pot we went back to my house, made more martinis, and watched 27 Dresses. Poor Martin fell asleep about two minutes into the movie, given the fact that he had flown from Norway and had been awake for over 24 hours! But we all had a very good day and I loved having a pretty chill bachelorette party.
Next I'll update on the rehearsal day - which may very well have been one of the worst days ever. But if you've done any theatre you know that they say "bad dress rehearsal, great performance" - which is basically exactly what happened here! Awful rehearsal day, great wedding
