Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

Aww...hearts you too friend! :grouphug: You know we are all there for you! I want thank you too for all your support I am also in the same boat. DF and myself are out here for school away from family and friends so I am basically planning alone. You girls are a huge support system and have saved me from some major freak outs lol. Were here for ya anytime:thumbsup2

I'm Back!

So I have returned to PA after spending a nice long weekend at home with my parents and family on Long Island. I got to see my 5 year old twin cousins who were visiting with my Aunt from North Carolina, and they were so adorable! They are going to be the cutest little ring bearers:

I have quite a few things to update about, but for tonight I'll just talk about my ring! I went shopping with my mother, and tried on a bunch of different ones... and eventually made a purchase! I really like it. It has a row of diamonds, but they're very small, so it just looks very sparkly. I think it's perfect now. The woman at the store was having me try on so many, some that were really big. She was recommending a wedding ring with diamonds that raised to the same height as my engagement ring, and I thought it looked awful. Totally outshone my engagement ring, which is very simple. So I basically went against the woman's advice and got this one! :lmao:

Here are some pics. They're not very good quality because I had to use my mom's camera, and I left the ring at my parent's house since we'll be having the wedding in that area anyway. I'll try and bring my camera the next time I come home and take better pictures, but this at least gives you the general idea:

LOVE your ring!! It is very similar to mine!!

Glad you went the way you wanted and not the push of the sales lady! :goodvibes

try overstock, super cheap, good quality rings:thumbsup2

Yes, I am looking there right now and they have so much!! I am curious if you girls know anything about metal types. DF was thinking he would like a white gold ring to match mine, but Overstock has a bunch that are made of Tungsten or Titanium, and I'm not really familiar with those metals. Any recommendations or info? They also seem to be cheaper than the white gold, which would be a plus...

We are going with Tungsten. It's a really good price and easily replaceable if it gets lost. It's also a very strong metal and DF is always working with his hands so I figured it was a good fit, also if your DF is less traditional it might be a good idea, because Tungsten definitely doesn't look traditional. Scott is getting a jet black ring.

Wow jet black, I bet that's a really neat look! :thumbsup2 Yeah, DF was concerned that his should match mine, but I told him it doesn't matter and he should just get what he likes.

Yeah I agree with that completely, I believe a couple should do what reflects them the most, tell him to go for it:thumbsup2

Brian got the tungsten ring. And we ordered it from overstock. It is wonderful!! So much better than the picture! Everyone that has seen it loves it! Tungsten is very strong, and cant be resized, so we had to send it back for a different size. They seem to run a 1/2 size bigger.

As I discovered last semester, it's very much part of my job! Well... maybe not finding wedding stuff exactly, but locating information. I dunno if I mentioned but I'm training to become a librarian. One of my classes last semester my final was to answer five questions for the IPL (Internet Public Library). It basically ended up being a search for all sorts of obscure information on the internet! But I have some good searching tools now :thumbsup2

I just started reading through your PJ but I had to comment- I'm in library school too!! I'm almost done with the SLMS program (school library media specialist for everyone reading). It's rare to find someone else getting their MLS. I feel like I'm an expert at searching databases now :)

Oh, and DF and I loooove Melting Pot too. It's our go-to romantic dinner spot.

Last September, DF and I went to Disney right around the time you'll be there this year. The crowd wasn't too bad, so hopefully it'll be the same for your Disneymoon!

I'm glad that you found a band that you love - and sometimes it really isn't what you expected. But it looks beautiful with your engagement ring!

Good to know! We looked at some of the ones on overstock and I think Jason found one that he likes, so we're probably going to order it! I'll post pictures later.

That's so cool! I'm also in the SLMS program! I'm about a 1/3 of the way through it. What school do you go to?

And that's good to know that it wasn't too crowded - that's one of the reasons why we picked September for our Disneymoon!

Your ring looks gorgeous, and it is very complimentary to your e-ring. Great choice!

Thank you!! :goodvibes

DF's Ring

So we looked at a bunch of the rings on Overstock, and thanks to some of the recommendations here decided to go with a Tungsten ring. DF (and his whole family really) is very thrifty, so he can't stand spending a lot of money on anything really. The one exception is food - he loves to eat out! But just to give you an idea of what his family is like, his dad and stepmom's wedding ring is a half dollar that they made themselves by melting it and shaping it into a ring.

Anyway, here is the one that DF liked best:

I think it's a good choice for him. We're ordering it on Overstock now so that we can do an exchange if we need a different size. That should be the last of the ring updates for awhile, until I go home and can take better pictures of my ring or until we receive DF's ring. I'll try to post more details about my weekend home later tonight - we got a lot done, including a food tasting and visiting the DJ! :goodvibes
