Beauty and the Beach ~ Deluxe Edition

Good Morning friends!!
I have to update you on a few planning items and a special event too!!
First - I am surprising the girls with a new book! Yesterday I ordered the Guide to the Magic for Kids. I had a $5 credit on PayPal, so that helped!

Then today I ordered a lot of 10 trading pins from eBay. The girls said they'd like to trade, and they are collecting Tinkerbell (Sarah) and Princesses (Paige). They each only had a couple extra, so I ordered some for them to trade. We'll leave the rest at home. Those lanyards get too heavy to wear around and I don't want to carry them!
So I was all set to order a VB hipster yesterday. Looked on eBay, and also checked the VB site (SALE!). Decided I could get it just as cheap at the VB site. Was about to purchase. SOLD OUT ON LINE! :( Maybe it's a sign.
Question for all you VB lovers - if you have gone when it's hot, and carried a hipster - did you get hot where you "wear" the bag? Like did you sweat under the strap or where the bag rested on your hip? I'd love to go with a mini bag, but knowing I'll need to carry water and ponchos, I think the bigger bag would be a good idea. Going to have to decide soon so I have time to get it!

SPECIAL REPORT: I interrupt this PTR to bring you a special report. Last night my family had the pleasure of enjoying dinner with Northern Disney Girl and her family!!! Kim, Ken, Emily and Natalie were down from Canada on vacation for a few days at the Mall of America! So we had arranged to meet for dinner. My family refers to them as "the Canadians" (It's easier for them to remember than, Kim, or NDG). It was so fun - we had met once before - the girls were like old pals! We ate at Famous Dave's BBQ. The men split a HUGE platter - mostly ate the meat, carnivores that they are!
Then we went down to the amusement park, Nickelodeon Universe and the girls rode a ride together. Sarah and Emily rode Ghost Blasters (no pics) and Paige and Natalie rode Blue's Skidoo. It's a mini Dumbo type ride.

It was sort of funny - before we parted ways, we had to take a few more pics. So Kim and I each took pics of the girls and then handed the cameras to our hubbies and said "take a picture of us moms!"
Here, for your viewing pleasure, are the pictures: I apologize for the quality of the restaurant shots - bad lighting and my inability to figure out good settings on the camera!

Aren't those the four cutest girls you've ever seen???
My girls don't usually look so fancy with the hairdos. My mom was watching them yesterday and she had a cut/color hair appointment. Her stylist asked if the girls wanted to come and while her color was setting, to have them get their hair styled. So they did! They even got sparkle glitter! It is now all over their pillows, since they wanted to sleep with their hair up.
Here's a couple pics of the hairdos:

Paige had an upside down french braid going up the back of her head.

Sarah had more of a twist updo and the top was sort of ratted. Her curled tendrils stayed curled!!

Someone asked for pictures of the fans I got. I found them at Walmart for $4. They were by the pool stuff.

Well, I'm off to pay some bills () and go buy a tent. Yup, a tent. Sarah and I have camping for Girl Scouts next weekend and our troop needs another tent. On sale at Target for $50 it will be worth it to not have to borrow one every year. We only will use it a couple times a year, but who knows? Maybe we'll take up tent camping!

Sorry some of the pictures are so huge! I thought I resized them all.

Sarah's room looks awesome!! :goodvibes And great pics from your meet-up with Kim. It looks like everyone had such a great time! :cool1:

Fun update and DIS meet! It looks like you had a great time together! I love the girls' hair! Too funny about the glitter being all over the pillows!

Your girls will love the Guide to the Magic -- it's a really neat book and lots of fun!

I agree with you about those lanyards. I do not want to be the one to carry them!

I have never had a problem with the hipster -- maybe since it is cotton? :confused3

I love the pictures!! I want to ride the Blue Clue's ride, how cute is that!?!

The girls' hair looks super cute, it makes me want to go get my hair styled.

Great pics of the DIS meet! It looks like you all had a great time. The larger lime green fan looks like the one I bought for Madison. I'm sure she'll be willing to share, so I'm not going to buy any more. We already carry around enough stuff! I literally JUST ordered Madison a new Guide to the Magic book. She got so much use out of her old one!

Thanks! She loves her room and it's been neat for a whole week!
We had a lot of fun with Kim and family.

So fun that you got to meet up with Kim and family again! Love the girls' hair, too!
We did have fun. It's nice that they live somewhere "close" enough that it works out. We're thinking if we head up to Duluth sometime we could meet up again! The girls kept that hair going through Saturday and wore it to the Twins game. They got a lot of compliments!

We're still finding glitter around. Sarah washed her hair and there's still some in her scalp!
I'm excited about the Guide! I'm trying to throw them a few surprises on this trip - it will be a short time at WDW, but we'll make it special. It always is.

Thanks for the info on the hipster. I really should decide and just order it already! They have some on eBay in the pattern I like (Blue Rhapsody) and I could buy it now for around $42 plus shipping. Not terrible, but I've rarely spent more than $50 on a handbag. Only one Coach bag. Hmmm....If I think about it too much, I won't have time to get it! My indecision might make the decision for me.

There are a lot of cute rides at the park. It used to be Camp Snoopy and that ride was an airplane theme (think Red Baron). If I remember, only kids could fit on it before. Now I saw some parents with their toddlers on it.

Who says you need a special occasion to get your hair done?? My kids really had no good reason - just the DIS meet! HA! I think it would be a fun way to treat yourself - like a pedicure! I have such short hair, there's not much to do with it. I guess I'll stick to Pedicures!

It was fun! The girls took the mister fans to the Twins game on Saturday - worked pretty well. Paige had them clipped on her belt loop since Sarah didn't have any. I hope the foamy fan blades survive until we go. I might have to put them away! I think the girls will really enjoy the book. I'm not sure when I should give it to them - wait until the plane, when we get to WDW?

I had a minor panic moment this morning. I checked email and saw one from Delta - saying a change has been made to our itinerary! YIKES! Last time they did that, it just moved our departing flight about 15 minutes earlier. I thought maybe I'd get lucky and our flight home would get pushed later. Nope. I checked the times, all the same. What the heck did they change? So I went back to my old itinerary. The big change?...
They moved our seats up about 10 rows. ???:confused3
I suppose it's because we did not specifically select our seats and someone else wanted that row? I don't care where I sit really, as long as they don't split us up.

Taking it easy today - I have a sinus headache going strong and sore throat, so the kids and DH went to the sand pool at the county park. I'm just laying low and taking drugs. Might even sleep a little more.

If anyone is interested - The Pixar Story is on CNBC today. I think it's on now and it's also on again tonight. It's from a couple years ago, but I've heard it's good. I'm recording it.

The girls' hair styles are adorable! :) Glad you had a fun Dis meet. Someday we are going to get to the MOA! I just set my DVR to record the Pixar story. Thanks for the heads up Sheree.

Fun DISMEET!!! My kids would love that Blues Clues ride! I took a VB Hipster in January. While it was not hot, I did find that it "cut" into my shoulder and gave me a red spot every day. I tried to switch sides to keep it from rubbing in the same spot. I did have LOTS in the hipster, so it made it heavier than I am sure it needed to be. I am going to go with the large VB backpack this year...hopefully it will help distribute the weight!

Thanks, it was fun. Hopefully you'll get to MOA and we can meet too! It's only 20 minutes from my house. I watched a bit of the Pixar Story. pretty cool.

Thanks for the info. I'm still debating!! Wish I could get one for $30. Then I'd get one for sure. If I do, I'll remember not to make it too heavy!

I'm in :) A little late. DIS newbie. I love your plans so far!!

:welcome: to the DIS and to the PTR! You're never too late around here.

I have found a plastic bin and started to pile stuff in it today. So far all that's in there are the fans, my journal, a notebook Sarah wants to use for a journal and the Hidden Mickey's book. It's about all I could do today. I have this crappy sinus headache and scratchy throat. I even took a nap! That's something I haven't done since, well the last time I was sick probably! DH and the girls were at the beach for a couple hours, but then storms moved in. It's been raining most of the afternoon. Would have been a great day to go see TS3, but I wouldn't have enjoyed it with my headache. We are going for sure before our trip!!

Hope your headache goes away soon and you feel better! :goodvibes

I have been filling a plastic bin today, too. I didn't get much farther than you.

Thanks for the info about the Pixar show. I DVR'd it and we watched the first 45 minutes so far. Very cool!

Hope you're feeling better this morning!

Hey girl! Are you better? I got a bug yesterday:sick:...while out of town, no less!!!! I am tired today!!!! Love their hair and the pics with Kim are great!! All four girls are soooo beautiful!! Girl...it'll be here before you know it!!!:cool1:
I did a hipster trip before last...it didn't work well for me because mike and the kids kept adding to it all day and it got awfully heavy on my neck! I got the VB backpack for the last trip and liked it a lot better---but it might make your back sweat in the July heat...but you can carry it by the handle on top....just a thought....didn't VB come out with a bigger hipster this year? I can't remember...but the new colors and all come out on Thurs....you may want to see if any new styles work better for you!

I've never had a problem with my hipster at all. I try not to carry too much though. I usually have a slender wallet, camera, lotion, chapstick, gum, cell phone, journal and a pen in the main zippered area. That's about all that will fit anyways without it bulging all over the place. Tony carries a backpack that we put the ponchos, water, etc in. Again, we try not to load that up too much either.

:rotfl:You don't have as much time as me! You better get cracking!
The headache is better today. I went last night shopping and got a new swimsuit. I've got a lovely cough today, but I feel a lot better. Think I'll go to bed early tonight though!

Definitely better, but I have a feeling this cough will hang around a while. If there's nothing on tonight I might watch the Pixar show.

Hi Shawna! Hope you're better too! If I do get a hipster, I will definitely limit the weight! I have enough neck and shoulder problems! DH might carry a backpack with the cameras and ponchos. We shall see...
I will watch on Thursday for the VB stuff. I have a hard time choosing a color, so maybe I'll find one I like better that's easier to get! Thanks for the tip!

I will have to police all the stuff I carry. I would love to go without a bag altogether, but I don't see that happening! Maybe on our DHS morning...Depends how much stuff I need and can fit in my pockets! Maybe I can find some cargo shorts!

I read your update a few days back, but I must have gotten interrupted and forgot to post. Nice DIS meet! Really enjoyed seeing your pictures and reading all about it. I would love to see the Mall of America one of these days! Sounds like a really cool place!

When I go swimsuit shopping, the headache gets worse... :confused3 :lmao:

Thanks! MOA is pretty cool. Sometimes I forget how much extra stuff there is there - we actually go there to shop fairly often. I think everyone should come and see it! I will meet you there!
:rotfl:
I must have just been lucky. I generally knew what I wanted and found it on sale at the second place I looked. Good thing, b/c I'm cheap - swimsuits don't warrant me spending a lot on them. I basically got what I already had, style-wise. Tankini with skirt bottom. This time I got a floral print top to go with a black skirt. I can get other tops to go with it I suppose.

My sinus thing has morphed into a normal cold/cough. The cough is most irritating! So I'm all hopped up on Sudafed, mucinex, and aleve! Plus I've gargled with salt water and had cough drops. I WILL go to bed by 10 tonight!!! I tried last night, but ended up dinking around with a software update for my phone and it messed things up. Sometimes technology is not my friend... Surprised THAT didn't give me a headache!:headache:
