Beastly Kingdom????

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Beastly Kingdom. What is it? When does it open? I heard it was some sort of add-on to Animal Kingdom. Is this true?

Beastly Kingdom was/is the working name for a themed area of AK. It has, to date, not been built and as far as I know is on indefinate hold. It is/was to be an area themed around fantasy animals; like dragons, unicorns, sea searpents, etc. Don't look for any major advances for Beastly Kingdom until the economy and tourism improves.

I was looking at an OLD WDW guidebook at a used bookstore and they had a map of what AK was "going to look like when it opened". In that original map, beastly kingdom was drawn in where Camp Minnie-Mickey is now located.

I don't know if it was an original plan that was scraped and then replaced or still on the drawing boards for a later addition. I don't really know that I would like a section at AK about "fantasy creatures".....I just don't feel that would tie in with the rest of the flow of the park......of course neither does Dinoland and all of those carnival type games

Oh thats pretty cool! I always thought AK would never need another addition also.

Yes it was suppose to be where Minnie-Mickey is. The plans were going through everybody and kept getting all the approvals and then it hit the marketing team. They put a stop to it because of now character greeting areas. They yanked out BK and put in the entire temporary buildings that is housing CMM area. Yes everything there was designed to be easily removed in less than 30 days with out the use of a bulldozer.
