Anybody have anymore info about this? How did I miss this?

2012/2013 - Beastly Kingdom - In Redesign - (4/25/08) sources tell us Beastly Kingdom may very well be back on the five-year planning track and if all goes as planned, we could see it open by either 2011 or 2013, depending on just how quickly they want it. Unfortunately it seems Disney has move away from any plans involving the Dragon’s Tower roller coaster concepts. In fact, they’re said to be shying away from Dragons entirely since Universal already took the basic idea for Dueling Dragons, which will get refreshed with an all-new story when it becomes part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter late next year. Instead Disney will focus the land on “other” imaginary creatures.
There is some good news however as the long rumored next generation water ride concept Disney has been working on does look to be the front-runner for the land’s big Super E-Ticket concept. I don’t know much about it except that the basic idea is to take the EMV style motion-based action you get from the Indiana Jones Adventure (DL) and Dinosaur (AK) rides and then apply it to a boat ride. I’ve got two ideas in my head… one invoving large Jungle Cruise sized boats with a huge motion base (sinking ship action?) or on the smaller scale of things… something more Splash Mountain log sized but with bouncy seating to create a real-world version of the Virtual Jungle Cruise attraction at DisneyQuest.

I wish they would build it. But that's really old and there really haven't been any other rumors, or even better, news on Beastly Kingdom have there? It would be perfect for Animal Kingdom, even though I don't think they're working on it right now.

I'm just hope the idea is still out there somewhere. When I first heard about Beastly Kingdom I was stoked. I couldn't wait for them to build it. I realize that is over a year old but there is no other information saying anything has changed so maybe it is in the works or at least is on the drawing floor for the future...

The latest rumors concerning Beastly Kingdom is that it won't be BK at all, but more like Mysterious Island from DisneySea. It supposedly will have Journey to the Center of the Earth as its main attraction, as well as some other rides and shows. People familiar with it say that this won't be built for a while. The Fantasyland expansion seems to be the top priority, but who knows, things can change.:)

The source of the above rumor, I'm assuming, is screamscape?

That's where I read it about 17 months ago.

THAT incarnation had since died on the vine (again).

There have been more recent rumors that they're considering the project again. But I think the Fantasy land redesign (which we should all hear firm confirmation about this week from the D23 attendees, I think) is up first. Once that's done, I think well see larger additions to DHS and AK. What form that addition to AK takes, or exactly when we see it (I think we'll see the DHS "Pixar Place" expansion fleshed out, first)...we'll have to wait and see.

I LOVED the idea of Beastly Kingdom when it was first floated.

Here is a blurb about the Journey To The Center of Earth...

Journey To The Center of the Earth - Rumor - (7/18/09) sources have come through with a big rumor update today claiming that Imtdsjourneyvehiclelg_250agineering is preparing some new detailed attraction concepts for the park once again, many of which apparently involve the building of the long awaited Beastly Kingdom area. However with the Dragon’s Tower coaster idea said to be out for good, Disney is drawing upon ideas for other mystical animals for the land’s focal point, which is now rumored to be a copy of Journey To The Center of the Earth from Tokyo DisneySea.
The Tokyo ride used the next generation version of the Test Track ride system to create a massive high speed dark ride experience, including an encounter with one of the largest animatronic figures Disney has ever built. From what I’ve been told the proposal and basic plans have been drawn up for Journey to act as the main attraction for the new Beastly Kingdom. They just have to wait for management to give it the green light and sign on the dotted line.

I don't see why Disney would have to avoid dragons. They have plenty in their storehouse to work from.....Maleficent, Queen Narissa, the Reluctant Dragon, Pete's dragon, Mad Madam Mim, Mushu, and Reign of Fire. One of the reasons I wanted so bad to go the DLPR was the Maleficent dragon under the castle, and I wasn't disappointed. I was disappointed with the "Reign of Fire" segment of the tram tour in the studio.

Another great idea would be to expand Dinoland to include Dinotopia. I was surprised to see the set pieces on the tram tour in Paris.

Sounds like Rhino Rally at Busch Gardens. :confused3

If they go ahead with this, I certainly hope they come up with a better name than Beastly Kingdom. I absolutely hate that name...I don't know why, but it just isn't catchy for me.

I just want Disney to do something with Animal Kingdom. The area that is Camp Minnie-Mickey desperately needs some attractions.

I don't really like the idea of doing a Beastly Kingdom at AK. I think it would be better to do an Australia area or a South America area. I am sure they could tool the current ride ideas around one of those two themes. I guess even Mystery Island area would not be too bad.

But the whole original plan of AK was to have all animals-present, extinct, and mythical-together. On the signs for the park, they have a dragon. One of the parking lots is called "Unicorn." There is still a dragon rock formation at the entrance to Camp Minnie-Mickey. If it gets built, the name of that area may change, but I doubt seeing an Australian or South American area, especially on that site. I would love to see an Australian or South American area, but I highly doubt they would put it there. Disney doesn't half-do anything, so I am exceedingly surprised they haven't "finished" AK with the Beastly area already. The dragons and unicorns etc just didnt seem to fit the current AK
