Bear Hugs & Piggy Kisses - Baby's 1st Trip ~ Updated 12/6: Aulani TR Started!!!

Love the shoes! And love the Target clearance! I'm going to have to go look for that shirt, too cute! And you can never have too many suits! I hate putting on a wet suit that hasn't dried from an AM swim by the time you want to take a PM dip in the pool (or in your case, ocean!)

SUPER CUTE stuff!!!
Love that she picked out her own swimming suit :)
And I am totally guilty of buying cute shirts too big cause that's the only size. Caden has a 5t Lightning McQueen shirt. It's from goodwill so it's a little shrunk from use but still much too big...but I don't care. It's so soft and it's cute lol

Those shoes are adorable, and great finds! The video was not letting me hear the sounds for some reason?

Thanks! I couldn't pass up a Hawaii shirt for Izzy, given her current obsession with Hawaii. :rotfl: And that is very true about the swimsuits. I have a couple for myself and will probably bring a 3rd (old suit) to Hawaii as a spare. Izzy has a couple already that should fit, so a 3rd would be good. :thumbsup2

It was funny, she spotted the swimsuit and pointed it out to me, but when asked if she wanted it, she was like, "No!!!!" I got it anyway. :rotfl2: And someday those big shirts will fit them properly, right? Good long-term investment! ;)

Thanks! She tried the shoes on today and enjoyed marching around the house in them. They're a bit big (got them a size up so they would last), but they seem to work for her.

I sent you the video separately so you could see, but anyone else having issues with the one on here? :confused3 Just wondering. It works for me, so not sure what's up.

I am pretty sure that Izzy stayed asleep in her stroller, parked in the room, for part of the night. When she had her middle-of-the-night wake-up (she was still having one at that time), I’m sure I got her up, changed her diaper, put her in jammies, nursed her back to sleep, and put her in the pack ‘n’ play.

In the morning, after we got her ready, I guess she amused herself with the safe (and you can see her “closet” here):

Her favorite combination was 5555, in case you were wondering...

I guess we enjoyed some more pre-breakfast snacks that were leftover:

Um, apparently Izzy enjoyed some snacks in her snack cup:

Looks like she was munching on some goldfish crackers as we headed down the hall:

Within minutes, we were here:

Yes, that place that no longer exists, at least not in this form. :sad2:

The line for breakfast:

And some waiting after we checked in:

Good thing we all had eaten our snacks, I guess!

Once our ‘ohana was seated in ‘Ohana, we were brought some pastries and fruit to start off with:

Mmmmm, and some yummy juice:

Izzy started in on her pouch and milk, but was soon interrupted by Lilo:

The meet actually went pretty well, considering that Izzy had no clue who Lilo was. Little did Izzy know that she’d become obsessed with Hawaii in 2014. :rolleyes1 I have video of the meet and there is quite the unexpected “high five” in it:

(click to watch)

The next visitor was Stitch:

Get me away from this creature!

As you will see in the video, she was quite happy to say “bye-bye” to Stitch:

Hope she likes him better at Aulani! I think a viewing of Lilo and Stitch will be on the agenda before that trip!

Luckily, Stitch’s visit was followed by food. Looks like this platter contains eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and biscuits:

And someone brought around Mickey waffles too:

Speaking of Mickey, there he is:

Whoa, I’m eating you and you’re over there?!

While we waited for the big cheese, Izzy enjoyed sampling some of the food, especially the raspberries from that fruit platter:

Up next: Mickey and Pluto visit! And the highlight of Izzy’s breakfast!

Soon enough, Mickey made his way over to our table:

Yep, you get a real high-five, Mickey:

I love you, Mickey, plus your waffle likeness is delicious:

Nose kisses:

It was a sweet meet and here’s the video:

(click to watch)

As you may have caught in the video, Izzy got fresh raspberries. There had only been a few in the fruit plate, so we asked if they may be able to bring a few more for Izzy. Well, they really delivered:

I think we may have gotten our money’s worth out of ‘Ohana just in raspberries alone! :teacher: They were very generous, we certainly didn’t expect a whole bowl full. In fact, I think they even offered to refill it later, but we were done. Super nice of them, though, and Izzy was thrilled to have so many raspberries to munch on! :thumbsup2

Soon, we saw Pluto dancing across the floor:

(click to watch)

He eventually danced his way over near us:

Peek-a-boo, Izzy:

Can’t you see I’m eating here, doggy? :confused3

Okay, you can have a high-five:

Later!

Given Izzy’s extreme love of dogs, she was surprisingly indifferent to Pluto. :rotfl: I guess fresh Mickey waffles and raspberries we preferable to a playful puppy at that moment. Or maybe she was afraid he’s trying to snatch her food like Bailey sometimes attempts at home. :dog:

Here’s the video:

(click to watch)

We enjoyed our breakfast at ‘Ohana, but don’t feel like it’s a must-do meal for us. I think it’s great if you’re staying at the Poly, but I don’t know that it’s worth the trip otherwise, unless you have a real Lilo and/or Stitch lover on your hands. The food was good, but nothing exceptional. I did like the family-style service – very nice with a toddler to not have to get up and go to a buffet. So, after a fun time, we were ready to move on with our day.

Up next: DHS and a spin on Toy Story Mania without having to do the Stampede!

Yay! Another update. Didn't think about the family style versus buffet. Might need to reconsider some of my choices.

So, it may be a short trip, but I think this August trip deserves at least one planning post! And, seeing that we're leaving next Saturday morning, I might as well get it done now. Here's the detailed itinerary I made up, but of course it is subject to change, depending on Izzy's needs:

Planning for such a quick trip is really tough! Hitting 4 parks in 3 days (2 of which are also travel days) is ambitious. I think it's do-able, though. But I'm going into it knowing that things may change and that is okay.

I have us meeting up with Imagineer5 (Lauren) and her daughter Aria for a few things in the MK. Nothing set in stone, but I tried to line up some of our must-dos with FP+ she has - so we may be able to ride a few together. And we are planning to meet for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during nap time. Hoping it's not raining this time! The next day, at DHS, we're planning to spend much of the DHS time together, including lunch, but Izzy and I will be heading out on our own for the afternoon to hit Epcot.

I'm really excited to see how Izzy likes things this trip. She has been SO obsessed with Minnie lately (more than normal), so I'm interested to see how she does with characters (she was very shy in June). She has gotten so talkative and interactive now, so that will make the whole experience very different, I think. She has opinions and is not shy about voicing them. Hoping we have a blast!

In other Disney news, I have apparently gotten on a shopping kick lately. (Guess it’s good that I just got an unanticipated raise at work!) Here are the latest things.

Clearly, Izzy needed more than one Olaf shirt:

I wish they weren’t all boys shirts at Target! The girls Frozen shirts are just princesses, which is nice, but Izzy loves Olaf and calls him by name. Plus, Sven is on it too! And it was 30% off on sale. I’m sure we’ll get plenty of use out of it. I might have her wear it to meet Anna and Elsa on the first night in the Magic Kingdom (then wear her other Olaf shirt for the Frozen fun).

Oh, and with her main Olaf shirt (the blue one), I think she can wear this sparkly white skirt that I just ordered:

Hoping she won’t get mistaken for a boy so much with it on at the Frozen event!

Speaking of Frozen fun, I found this little bracelet in the party favors aisle (Target) and thought Izzy would enjoy having an accessory for the event:

If it rains, Izzy will be covered with this Frozen raincoat I ordered (also on sale):

It’s a one size fits all (kids), so probably way too big, but it will likely keep her dry anyway and we can keep it for a long time until she outgrows it.

Speaking of rain, she outgrew her little jelly sandals that I’d gotten for free and I liked those for times where I didn’t want to get her regular shoes wet – splash pads or walking in puddles, etc. Just happened to find a bigger pair on clearance at Buy Buy Baby the other day and grabbed them to bring as a spare shoe to the parks:

Back to the Target order. I couldn’t resist a Minnie backpack on sale:

Thinking that we can put Izzy’s toys in this for the plane ride and maybe she will wear it (to be like Mommy). And I can borrow Dug’s backpack for the rest of our carry-on items. Keep my hands as free as possible for boarding.

And while I was ordering things from Target, I ran across this shirt for me on clearance that seemed perfect for Hawaii:

But back to stuff for Izzy! We had to toss a couple bibs recently (forgotten in bags with food/milk on them and getting moldy), so I had an excuse to order some of the new Disney patterned ones:

While I was on Amazon selecting those, I noticed the same company makes “wet bags” and they seemed useful for wet swimsuits on vacation, so I got one of them too:

And, on the topic of swimming, I thought it might be good for Izzy to have appropriate footwear. Thinking ahead to Aulani, I’ve heard the pavement can get really hot sometimes. So, I found some water shoes on clearance at Target and hoping they will work well for her:

I also noticed that her Minnie swim cover-up that I love is just about too small for her, so I located a bigger one with Ariel at JCPenney’s that is on it’s way to us:

So, yeah, lots of shopping. And that doesn’t even include things like the Olaf counting-to-10 book that I got her the other day (which she LOVES).

The other fun stuff has been our weekend of going to the MN State Fair yesterday and a local fair today. We saw this at the State Fair:

Shockingly, we didn’t actually get any, though. Too much other stuff to eat at the Fair and I will hopefully be enjoying some Dole Whip next weekend (with rum at Animal Kingdom!)

Izzy enjoyed a dumdum at the Fair:

This was a good reminder to me that I need to pack some for the trip. Not something she gets often and it distracts and quiets her for a bit. Might need it if she gets bored in the couple of shows we’re planning or needs to settle down on the flight. Hope not, but want to be prepared.

Other than the Fair Food (Izzy enjoyed cookies, fries, crab cakes, and more), the highlight for Izzy had to be the “Kidway” rides. She is definitely over 32” now and was able to do a few things (with me). One was “Jumbo”. Does this look familiar:

It was actually pretty fun! They have a bar that you pull back and forth to go up/down. I kind-of liked that. Izzy had a blast.

Next, she demanded to drive a car. In fact, she actually said something like, “I drive pink car” while pointing at the pink car. So, I let her:

There’s our pink car back there:

We also took a jungle train ride, which was fun:

And we topped it off with a giant slide! I used to love these as a kid, but hadn’t been on one in forever. And I knew Izzy liked slides, but had never been on one even close to this size! She rode with me and I think she liked it. I had fun too:

She also climbed all the stairs on her own, by the way. She loves stairs!

Today, at the local fair, there was a travel agency booth with giant Minnies and Mickeys. Izzy saw Minnie and started yelling her name, then ran over and grabbed her for a giant hug (and mouse-napping attempt):

I hope she greets the WDW Minnie with as much enthusiasm!

Can’t believe we’re going to be in WDW again so soon! I’ve been so pre-occupied with Hawaii and life in general and haven’t even finished my Dec. TR or started a June TR. Darn Annual Passholder problems, ha ha!

So, that’s probably it on the PTR front. I’ve got a packing list going, but need to do the actual packing this week. And, in case you’re wondering, I think this trip will come out to under $150 out of pocket for me, all things included. Not bad!

Yay! Another update. Didn't think about the family style versus buffet. Might need to reconsider some of my choices.

Yeah, buffets aren't the worst thing in the world, but they can be inconvenient with kids. With another adult to stay at the table, it's not so bad, but you have to time your trips well to not miss characters and such. The family-style was nice because we were all able to just sit at the table the whole time and get all the food we wanted brought right out to us. Basically, a full sit-down meal experience, but without a menu or choices. :rotfl:

The O'hana breakfast looked like a lot of fun! I tentatively have it booked for our December departure day for 10:45 (we have to check out at 10, so I figured we could pack the car up by 10 then head over to the Poly and start our road trip from there after we eat) but I'm not particularly attached to it. I do agree that family style is better than buffet when you have a little one.

Wow your short trip is jam packed! Your touring style is exactly like Lauren's LOL. I cannot believe you are going for $150. That's so awesome. I hope you have a great trip!

Love all the shopping. I for one am happy to see the Olaf shirts for boys. It's so hard to find stuff for boys vs. girls. I'm always seeing super cute minnie stuff for girls, but never any Mickey stuff for boys. I really loved the jumping beans/disney stuff from Kohls but the new stuff is all planes and jake, and gavin doesn't know or like either one. Izzy is one stylish girl! Our bumkins bibs did not last very long, they ended up moldy and gross. I wish I would've known about the Disney prints. I love the wet bag! I had no idea they had Disney wet bags or we would've had some for our diapers! I really love everything you bought Izzy. I had no idea they still made those jellies, I had some way back in the 80s haha.

Love the bumpkin bibs you got! We had one go moldy too (left it in a bag) so that was my reasoning behind Caden's new Mickey one too! Haha

I'm thinking a target trip may be in order for us. I think Caden needs a matching Olaf shirt like Izzy's haha. And I agree with angel above, boy shirts are NEVER very cute! Ugh. Especially now that he's getting older. The baby ones were cute sometimes. And kohls shirts are totally boring. We have the same problem, he's not really into cars or jake and I don't buy sports themed shirts (unless it's the STL cardinals) so all the Mickey shirts at kohls are all like football or soccer and I'm just not interested. If you see any nemo shirts on your shopping trips let me know! We've decided our Epcot day is going to be nemo shirt themed but now I can't find cute nemo shirts. Figures! Haha.

What a busy trip you'll have! Looks like you'll manage to get a lot in! I'm so impressed that the trip is only costing you <$150!! Just crazy!

It looks like Izzy enjoyed the character interactions at the Ohana breakfast! So cute!

Your next trip is coming up so soon and looks like it is going to be packed with fun! I see that you have Cronuts on your itinerary - soooo good! We got one to share in February and I wish we had each gotten one. Except that the seagulls were swarming us because of it - it was scary!

You did a lot of shopping and got some great buys! I love the little jelly shoes.

My in-laws are from MN and they always make a trip to the state fair each year. We usually don't visit during the summer, so I haven't been yet.

Love the update! Love seeing your plans outlined, so fun! I'm excited for the weekend for you!

Thought of you at Target today! Have you seen the Luau pajamas on clearance? I couldn't snap a pic, I left my phone in the car, but they were adorable! They said something like "Luau Night" or something and had hula girls on them! Also, Old Navy online has tons of Disney and Minnie shirts on sale! I have a 30% off code (I think it was 30%) if you want it!

Yeah, I think that would make a nice departure day breakfast, especially since you'll have a car. Though it might be hard to be so close to the MK and leave!

Wow your short trip is jam packed! Your touring style is exactly like Lauren's LOL. I cannot believe you are going for $150. That's so awesome. I hope you have a great trip!
Ha, I think the short time frame makes that sort of touring style necessary. I'd like to have more relaxed time, but no time for that! :rotfl: This is definitely the cheapest WDW trip I've done! :thumbsup2

Oh, I should clarify, it's not that I wish bad shirts on the boys - I just wish there was an Olaf option for girls. However, I did notice that there is one "girls" Olaf shirt online, but I haven't seen it in stores and I actually like the ones I got better. I'm sure it's tough finding cute things for boys. Huh, guess I'm not the only one who had some bibs go moldy. Ours lasted for quite awhile before that, though. I think the wet bags with Disney print are probably fairly new, like the bibs. I had jelly shoes in the 80's too! I'm not sure if these technically are, since they are a bit harder plastic than I remember, but I don't know what else to call them.

Love the bumpkin bibs you got! We had one go moldy too (left it in a bag) so that was my reasoning behind Caden's new Mickey one too! Haha
Yay for justification to get Disney bibs! :thumbsup2 We both did the same thing!

I'm thinking a target trip may be in order for us. I think Caden needs a matching Olaf shirt like Izzy's haha. And I agree with angel above, boy shirts are NEVER very cute! Ugh. There are a bunch of Olaf options, but not all in store. Here's what I saw online:

Last week, they were all 30% off, but it looks like they changed the deal to Buy One, Get One 50% off for this week. For some reason, the new one I got isn't on there. I've seen the orange one in stores too, by the way.

Hope you can find a cute Nemo shirt! I feel like I've seen one somewhere, but I can't remember for sure or where.

What a busy trip you'll have! Looks like you'll manage to get a lot in! I'm so impressed that the trip is only costing you <$150!! Just crazy!
It's gonna be crazy! Luckily, Izzy is on board with our plans. She was very unhappy (screaming) to be put in her crib tonight, but then I told her she had to get lots of good sleep this week so we could have tons of fun at Disney World next weekend and she agreed and laid right down without another peep! :lmao: This trip is really quite a ridiculous bargain! ::yes::

It looks like Izzy enjoyed the character interactions at the Ohana breakfast! So cute!
Thanks, she enjoyed it, I think. It wasn't as magical as some of the other character interactions, like Crystal Palace, but she did pretty good.

Your next trip is coming up so soon and looks like it is going to be packed with fun! I see that you have Cronuts on your itinerary - soooo good! We got one to share in February and I wish we had each gotten one. Except that the seagulls were swarming us because of it - it was scary!
I read about the Cronuts in another trip report and wanted to try them last time, but didn't get a chance. Yikes on the seagulls! Do you think a Cronut would still be good the next morning for breakfast?

You did a lot of shopping and got some great buys! I love the little jelly shoes.
Thanks, I love finding fun things on clearance!

My in-laws are from MN and they always make a trip to the state fair each year. We usually don't visit during the summer, so I haven't been yet.
Oh, cool, a MN connection! The fair is fun, but it's kind-of an every 2 or 3 year thing to us. Some people LOVE it, though.

Love the update! Love seeing your plans outlined, so fun! I'm excited for the weekend for you!
Thanks, I hope we have a blast!

Okay, I had to look up the Luau pajamas online...super cute! I think she will need those for Hawaii! I didn't see them in the Target by work, but I'll have to check the one by home next time I'm in there. Thanks for letting me know! :goodvibes

Coupon expired yesterday :(
Ah, probably for the best - I've been doing way too much shopping lately! :rotfl:

Haha! Hilarious about your bargaining for bedtime! It's crazy that we can bargain with them now isn't it? I love that they understand so much more now!

It really is! Dug and I were just talking about that tonight - how cool it is that she can be reasoned with sometimes. I was surprised how well this one worked!

I've been following along silently for a while and I figured I should make my presence known! :wave2:

We have an Ohana dinner booked for our trip in November, and we are just two adults. It looks like they gave you all a decent amount of food at breakfast - I wonder if it is the same at dinner. I was wondering how family style would work with only two adults. :confused3

Your upcoming trip looks so fun! I can't wait to read all about it! :yay:pixiedust:
