I saw this remark posted on another Disney Board & wondered if anyone else knew about this....

"If you find yourself coming back from the MK @ nite ask the 1st mate if the captain would show everyone "the bear".

If he swings out and come straight @ the lodge you will see a bear face appear. The lights from the main part of the lodge looks like the features of a face. It is amazing. The 1st time we saw it we didn't know about it. Another guest had asked and what a treat it was for us all."

I'm definitely going to check this one out!!

That was pointed out to me several years ago. It supposedly was intentional in the design of the building, but I'm not sure if it's any more than a coincidence, but it is pretty easily seen.

Wow, I never heard about this, will have to check this out sometimes, thanks!

Debbie-

It is funny that you mentioned this.

As some of you know, I visit the Fort regularly. We have been 5 times this year, and I'm working on the 6th visit.

On our most recent visit, 10/18/07, as we were heading back to the Fort after a MNSSHP, the boat was packed, so we sat in the way back. After dropping off the Wilderness Lodge folks, we headed toward the Fort. The mate came back to chat with us, and told us to look at the Wilderness Lodge as we drove out. I thought the guy was pulling our leg, but I'll be darned if it didn't look like a bear's face. There are two windows up high that were lit up-these were the bear's eyes, and the rest of the main building made the outline of his face.

I must have been on that boat 50 times at night, and never saw that!

Someone would have to be a very good photographer to get a good photo of this, since you are on a moving boat, and quite a distance from the lodge for the effect to work. I doubt if it looks like a bear in the day time.

Be sure to check it out on your next night-time boat ride!

I saw it when we were there in Dec. I thought it was just my imagination. I didn't know it was a bear though, we assumed it was Mickey's face, minus the ears. Makes more sense as a bear though. Mickey with no ears is a little sad.

I can't believe I saw something that most people don't notice. I am usually the last one to see it. Yay me!!! Finally I am not so slow.:cool2:

It is tempting to start up about otters again but since the other one got locked up I think I will pass.

The bear is neat. They pointed it out on our trip back from WL to the Fort one night.

I otter know that I'd be the last one to find out the bare facts about the bear face! It's otterly otter "otter discrimination" that they don't have a hidden otter one place or an-otter! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm otter control, here!!! :lmao:

I took this picture of the bear face at WL on my last trip.

ftwildernessguy- you are too funny!

des1954- you are making it hard not to get going on the otters again. I guess I felt like I had been bad since I was the last person to post on that thread before it was locked up. Felt like I was the final straw that broke the otters back. :lmao:
