Am I the only one who purchased 100's of Beanie Babies and have them all packed in dust proof plastic boxes?
My belief was by now I would have sold them for amazing profits....hahah
What has everyone done with this little tagged animals? Any suggestions? I just can't bring myself to throw them out......:scratchin

I use them as "rest buddies" for my kindergarteners. First semester if kids are resting quietly they get a beanie baby to rest with, second semester if they are looking at books quietly (we give up napping after first semester) they get a beanie baby to look at the book with them.

I probably have enough to last until I retire. :)

Great idea.....I will try to contact some schools in my area.
I have actually sent some to our female troops but there are 100's more to go....Oh My!:thumbsup2

Soooo funny! I have them too! I thought about putting them on eBay....but I doubt I will. I did donate some to a Christmas tree decoration contest we had at work, the winner got about 20 bears!! I've also been thinking of donating them to the Children's Hospital or a woman's/children's organization where they take/need toys?? I haven't yet, but I'm sure there are plenty of places that would love them as much as we did!!

Consider donating them to camp for children with cancer like "Happiness Is Camping" I worked there and the kids LOVE them, they are used for prizes and things. Many camps have lots of kids and small budgets, beanies are like gold! :goodvibes

You could donate them to the Operation Shoe Box. Many churches participate in this. Either regular shoeboxes are covered in Christmas paper or you can use the plastic shoeboxes. You fill it with toys, candy, books etc. and Beanie Babies. These boxes are sent to foreign countries that have so many childern who have NOTHING, They are so thrilled to have a gift of their own. This is a great project. It makes you feel so good! I will get the details for anyone who is interested.

I would love the info. Thank you so much!!!!

I'm with ya! I have lots of beanies as well! Something i thought about doing with mine is donating them to the local Police Department. Which they carry them in the police cars and emergency vehicles and are given to small children experiencing trauma when being rescued from dangerous situations.

Just a thought....

Hi Everyone,

I really appreciate the great ideas!!!!! Thanks so much!

Everyone has great ideas here! And remember, there is always Toys for Tots!
Can I donate to Toys for Tots if there not brand new?
They have never been played with and are in dust free cases but I thought Toys for Tots was just for new/current toys....

I have to join along with this thread......I had collected somewhere around 400 beanies, Disney character beanies only. Hard to part with those especially now since I have DD. But I love all the ideas presented and will need to think about it. Thanks again for the options.

I think this person was referring to Operation Christmas Child. Our church does this every year and we would love it if someone donated beanie babies for us to use! I am sure you can find a church that uses this program. If not, I would pay shipping for you to get them to me for our program. Here is the link to OPeration Christmas Child.

Hi Marsha,
If I can't find a local church (I had no luck this past Christmas) I would be more than happy to pack them up for you. When do you start collecting for the holiday season?:santa:

Well, some of us collect all year. When I find things on clearance, I just grab it then. Last year, I got hat and mitten sets for 25 cents each around March! We had a set for every box this past year. And I stock up on things like card games when Target's toys go 75% off. Usually, its only the toiletry items I pay full price for.

We have a big storage area that we can store things until we start the packing in November, so if you don't find a church, definitely PM me. I think the church would be able to give you a receipt for a charitable donation, so that would help for taxes.

If you would PM me with an email address I will print it...I will send my email to you as well...Thank You So Much!!!!

You might also consider checking into to donating them to a Children's Hospital or St Judes to be given to children receiving cancer treatments, etc. I am not sure if they do this but I think the children would find them comforting.

Check with your local fire dept, first aid squad and emergency rooms. Some places give them to kids when they are patients. It relieves the fear of the kids at times.

Our fire dept takes them and will hand them out when they go to fires if kids are involved. It can help with the fears. 1 year ago we had a small fire in our ouse and my 3yo was given a beanie baby. She was happy since a few of her stuffed animals had to be thrown out.

We donated my Mother In Law's collection to the local Ronald McDonald house.

We gave more to the local children's hospital where my DH works too. Since they are new with tag-- they make great treats for the kids.

Have a great day- jennifer
