:confused3

all i can do is share my experiences with this topic.

i live in the chicago area.

i bought the bealls promo pap.

i had it delivered by fed ex instead of kiosk pick up.

i am looking at it now. it does not state restricted to floridians.

i had bought the 5 day promo pass in january and when bealls promo came out, i called had the 5 day pass voided and paid the difference for the 2 year bealls pass.

not once was i asked about residency ...........they had to know as i live in illinois.

if something changed between then and now, i apologize if i am confusing anyone here on this topic.

i suggest you call again to universal and ask about any restrictions.

once you have the ap, it allows you to enter the park without paying.
you then go to gs to have your pic taken and pass activated.

i plan to use my illinois dri license for proof of id.

i do not see any issues in obtaining my ap at universal. the people in guest services are super employees. if you have any kinks or issues, be assured you wil be helped by them with a smile......... :teeth:

We're starting our vacation next Wednesday (8 days :cool1: ). I'll have my laptop with me and be sure to post and let everyone know how it goes.

I don't anticipate having any problem getting through the gates or getting my PAP processed. I am anxious to see what the expiration date once I get the pass though.

I'll keep you posted.

We arrive Wed, Aug 9.

I made print outs of the Annual Pass Ticket Options and the Ticket Restrictions before I placed my order. I've compared them to what is on the site now and nothing was previously said about Florida residency or checking ID at the gates.

Using Yahoo & Googles cached/archived searchs, I found the previous version of the pages I'm referring to. I don't know how long these archived versions will be available.

Yahoo Archive of Annual Pass Ticket Options

Google Archive of Ticket Details / Restrictions

Anyway, I called the 407 number for the online ticket customer service. The lady seemed surprised I was able to get my tickets shipped to a non-Florida address since it was the Bealls promotion, but she said I would still get the 2yr ugrade. I also called the 888 PASS 4 FUN number to ask about all this. The lady said no one would ask to see ID at the gates and I wouldn't be hasseled about the 2yr upgrade.

I think I'm well armed since I have the original printouts that don't mention the new/updated restrictions. Hopefully between the printouts, AAA promotion and dumb luck, I'll get the 2yr PAP.
 Actually, it does say Florida Residents Only:

"RESTRICTIONS

*Passes must be purchased by 9/30/2006 and redeemed by 12/30/2006. *Expiration date of passes will be two (2) years from date of first use
*Bealls Department Store receipt must be dated 5/19/2006 thru 8/31/2006.
*Pass will automatically activate on 12/30/2006. Pass valid for two years from date of activation.
*No other discounts, promotions or coupons including the Flexible Payment Option may be used with this offer
*Valid on new purchases of the 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass only. Not valid on previously purchased Annual Passes or renewals
*Not valid for separately ticketed events such as Halloween Horror Nights or Rock the Universe
*Discounts are valid through pass expiration date and benefits cannot be combined with other discounts
*Limit six (6) passes per transaction
*Must be a Florida resident to redeem
*Free parking is not valid on your first visit to the parks"

Well the printout I have doesn't say Florida Residents Only. That's the whole point. Universal modified the restrictions to include the "Florida Residents Only" after I ordered my pass on 7/22/2006.

In fact, the annual pass home page which was previously locatd at http://www.universalorlando.com/annualpass/index.html is now redirected to a new page http://www.universalorlando.com/annualpass/index.php.html

I'm sure that the search engine cache (archive or copy for non tech people) has been refreshed since I posted the original message. Yahoo and Google generally refresh their cache every 5-7 days.

I too arrive on Wednesday the 9th - guess that day will be the test, huh! And I'll have my laptop in tow, so I can post the results that evening (if I'm not too pooped outby the day's events, of course! :goodvibes )

You know, I am a real big fan of reading fine print, and I honestly didn't recall reading about the Fla thing until someone told me on another site they had to show ID - but in their case, they were purchasing at the window, which as phamton said, would be a potential cause for proof. I truly thought my main issue was a Beall's receipt, which wasn't a huge issue for me since I figured I could always hit one as I came into town. But then I read the Fla thing and thought - hmmmm - maybe it won't be as easy as I thought. I bought my passes kiosk-style; Nashville, how did you buy yours - kiosk or were they shipped to you?

After I read the Fla ID post on the other board, I then posted this query - and you'll note the date on my original post is 7/23... at 1:30 in the morning. So maybe it didn't have Fla on there originally - or I didn't see it, whatever. The timing kind of coincides with what you're saying. And I think that was one thing that threw me off - I wondered if they were "cracking down" on a missed loophole. I didn't want to be made an example of (especially in front of my kids, LOL - we all know how long they would tell THAT story to their friends... "Remember the time MOM got BUSTED at Universal.....") So if I sound like I'm being a tad anal and nervous about this - well, it's cuz I am! But I'm gonna give 'er the ol' college try, nonetheless. I do think, however, I will sneak over to US the night before... WITHOUT MY KIDS... and handle the tix situation then before we check into HRH the next day. Juuuuuuust in case..... :tiptoe:

FWIW, I shopped at Bealls last week, 7/28 -- honestly needed work clothes and Bealls is my store.

I took the flyer Bealls has right at the cash registers, and this is disclaimer written on it I'm holding in my hand:

"DISCLAIMERS: Offer valid for Florida residents only. Each guest must have a valid Florida driver's license, state photo ID or utility bill. Guest must provide BYGY flyer or promotion code..."

The rest is the same language on the Universal website about not being used in conjunction with AP renewals, Flex Pay option, concerts, special events, HHN, what the activation dates are, etc.

I'm not saying this is correct or incorrect -- this is the literature Bealls is handing out -- but I sure wish Universal and Bealls would get on the same page over this.

I would suggest you just use the code and order online with kiosk pickup. Then there is no one asking for id. I know at guest service, they aren't asking for FL ID. I will let you know if that changes.

I think I figured out where Phantom works. If you see an army of people with video cameras running up to you when you try to redeem your voucher at guest services, RUN! They make videos that they distribute internally so they can laugh at their guests trying to cheat the system. Phantom spearheads this operation. ;)

Nah, I'm Barney. But I play Spiderman on the weekends.

Okay. Stupid question here. How do you pronounce Bealls?

You pronouce it like "Bells." I know that A throws everyone off. In their logo the A is changed to the shape of a bell.

I like it when phamton does the voice for Donkey at the Shrek meet and greet. how does anyone lose the Texas accent and go straight into Eddie Murphy? it amazes me every time. :)
