Beach Location Question

What a lovely idea! Can someone tell me what Francks is - I'm intrigued.

Thanks so much for all of your info! I definitely have Beach locations written down to ask my Planner about.

Mermaidbride1108, I'm glad what I've shared so far has helped at least a little bit. If I can find more photos, I'll share them.

The thought of a beach ceremony has crossed my mind for my next vow renewal; however, I'm not sure if my stomach can tolerate the stress of worrying about the weather. My last outdoor party at the Grand Floridian truly had me a nervous wreck. I don't know if I want to go through that again! But if the backup location to a beach ceremony is the Wedding Pavilion, I guess that would be okay. I adore the Wedding Pavilion (that's where I renewed my vows the last time).

I look forward to hearing what the FTW folks have to say about a beach ceremony. If you hear anything before your site visit, please let us know. Thanks in advance!

Beep, here is what Disney has to say on the official FTW website:

Plan your Fairy Tale Wedding in the comfort of Franck's Bridal Studio, a re-creation of the wedding studio from the hit Touchstone movie "Father of the Bride."

And here is a photo of the front of Franck's (note: image taken from FTW DVD):

Franck’s Bridal Studio is a part of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings complex -- the main part being, of course, the actual Wedding Pavilion.

Franck's is used for planning sessions and other meetings that revolve around the planning of a Fairy Tale Weddings event. In the old days, you could just walk into the building, but I believe that changed a few years ago. I remember hearing that you needed to schedule a meeting there in advance. I don't know whether or not that is true since every time I visited Franck's, I had a confirmed meeting.

Inside Franck's you'll find many items on display in regards to weddings & vow renewals: chairs, chair coverings, table linens, table settings, floral arrangements, place cards, guest books, invitations, wedding favors, and so on. Here are a few photos of mine from a couple of years ago:

Here is a link to Disney’s 360-degree view of Franck’s Bridal Studio: click here. (Note: You need Apple’s QuickTime software application in order to take the virtual tour by moving your mouse around inside the image. This software may be downloaded for free from the Apple website: click here.)

I hope this helped.

I'm not sure about the meeting policy at Francks. When I got Engaged at Disney, the cast members told me to go visit there just to look. Just to like look for fun. So who knows?:confused3

Janet - I have been thinking the same thing about weather, but I really want an outside Ceremony so I'm not thinking about how I'll be stressed yet Cause I don't want to stress about being stressed:rotfl: if that makes sense. Even though I think WP looks like a church and I don't want a church typey wedding, it would be better as a back up than a ballroom. I plan to call Disney in one more week since I'll be off work so I'll keep you updated to what they say about beach locations.

That's brilliant, thank you. Might have to pay a visit and have a look.

You're welcome, Beep. If you do check it out, at least consider giving them a call beforehand just so that someone will be available to answer all of your initial questions. It's always more fun when you can speak with a FTW Cast Member directly. They're a wealth of knowledge.

Mermaidbride1108, it makes perfect sense to me. Definitely do NOT think about the weather. I think that's best. :lmao:

Have you been inside the Wedding Pavilion? I remember the first time I walked inside it. I was completely taken by surprise. Yes, I had seen many, many (many) photos of it over the years; however, none of those photos did it justice. Honest. Cross my heart. Don't count it out until you have personally seen the inside of it. By the way, the grounds are lovely, too. Perhaps a wedding there might be possible (they do have a head-count limitation, though).

I can't wait to hear what you find out. I'll be looking forward to your post.

Mermaidbride1108, if you click on the following link, you will be taken to a webpage that shows a few photos of the Wedding Pavilion (this is an official Disney webpage): click here. Once there, look beneath the main image for the words "360 View." Click on that link and a 360-degree virtual reality image will appear. If your computer has Apple's QuickTime software installed, you should be able to move your mouse around on the image and see a complete view of the pavilion.

It's not the best virtual reality view, but it does give you an idea of just how many windows the Wedding Pavilion really has. Those windows give the place an airy feel (which makes it such a shame that I had an evening ceremony!).

Mermaidbride1108, as I work on repairing my old FTW PS trip report, I stumble into all kinds of things. Case in point, here is a link to another virtual reality view of the Wedding Pavilion -- it is much better than the one I shared above: click here.

If you have QuickTime installed, simply move your mouse around (left-click & hold) inside the image of the Wedding Pavilion. That 360-degree view comes directly from Disney.

Mermaidbride1108, did you get any information about the beach weddings from Disney?

I am also interested in something like this for my VR, and can't find any information on alternative venues, as I also like the idea of just using the Commanders terrace for the whole ceremony and cake cutting, but don't know if it is possible.

I asked my consultant about beach locations and so far, I found out that the WP Beach is available for the same cost as the Wedding Pavillion and the rain location is the WP.

The other is the Yacht & Beach Club but she didn't give more details yet, she just said the back-up is a ballroom. I'm going to ask for pics in my next email to her so I will let you know if I get any more info.

She did say with a beach Ceremony (especially with my date) should stay away from 12 noon and 230 times because of heat.

I'll let you know what else I find out!

This is really great information! I LOVE Shipwreck Beach! I wanted to have my rehearsal dinner there, it was booked for convention but it would be amazing, we did have pics taken there after the wedding and before our reception at Ariels....Maybe a future VR haha

Does anyone have any pictures of Shipwreck Beach and the Grand Floridian Beach? Or can you suggest a location where I can find out what each looks like and the view? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Here's a shot of Shipwreck Beach from the walkway - I'll try to take one that gives a better idea of what's around it when we get there in a few days. ;)

And looking back from the BoardWalk (Shipwreck Beach is to the right of the lighthouse):

I'll try to get some good shots of the Grand Floridian Beach when we're there, too. I do know that you can't see the castle from that beach, only Space Mountain.

Carrie,

You would be willing to do that?! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I know the pictures will benefit other brides.

No problem! DH is so used to my photo requests that he even offers his own ideas now about pix we should take for "the girls on the boards"! :goodvibes

Hey Carrie! Just wanted to say hi! I've lurked for awhile and have so enjoyed reading about your wedding story! I bought the Destination Weddings mag that featured your beautiful day.. I can't believe you are almost ready to celebrate your 1st anniversary! When I was at WDW in Nov I made a wish at the Morocco fountain to find my Mr. Right... here's hoping I have a happy fairytale like you and Patrick!

That is so sweet - I'll keep my finger crossed that your wish comes true! :goodvibes

So, are these beach sites (WP beach, GF Beach and Shipwreck Beach) only available to Wishes weddings and not Escape weddings? I love, love, love the idea of the WP beach!! :beach: But, I think we're probably going to go with an Escape wedding... too many mouths to feed around our household! :crowded:
