Anyone ever ask the question AND get an answer as to why DVC @ BCV doesn't have their own check-in? Our last two experiences at the front desk were not good ones. We felt like second class citizens, no real welcome home. I called my guide to see if we could sell our points and buy Saratoga.....

BWV and VWL both share check-in with the sister resort (non-DVC) at those locations as well.

There should be no problem with allowing you to sell your points, but you are on your own there with either a resale company of via TUG.

Why not just use your points at OKW and SSR instead if you want a DVC only check in?

OK, first I would consider contacting the manager of the BC resort and the DVC satisfaction manager and voicing my complaint.

Secondly, WLV and BCv are smaller resorts. Staffing a 24 hour service like a check in desk is an expensive service, that needs to be paid for. Personally, I think they were smart in combining these resouces with the existing hotels to reduce costs. Certainly, they did not plan on doing so with reduced or poor service provided by those staff the desks to DVC members. Collect the names of the persons not providing service to the level you expect and report them immediately. Write letters of concern. Invite the offenders outside for a good old fashion thrashing. Personally, I think we need to see the return of corporal punishment in the workplace.

We've never had any trouble. I like the "welcome home" but certainly wouldn't sell my points over not hearing it each and every time. We don't feel like second class citizens when staying at these resorts. They are wonderful, and in my opinion, more exclusive.

But hay, life is short, if your not happy, sell. I imagine your points will be readily purchased.

Oh yes, just think about selling those points, buyers will be lining up. Very little can dampen my happiness upon check-in at BCV. Well, once being told there were no non-smoking rooms left (that was BWV), and once being told there were no ROOMS left (it all worked out, I just kind of refused to leave). As long as they've got a room for me, I'm happy. If the CM is having a bad day, not my problem. I'm at WDW!

That's too bad. After reading your experience I don't think I'll ever be able to stay at BCV again.

BTW, how much are you asking for your points?:smooth:

I must either be oblivious to the world around me or I lead a charmed life.

I swear to God, I have never had a problem with any check-in anywhere that I can recall. I have stayed at the BCV, the BWV, and OKW, and have always had pleasant, polite CMs, most of whom even remembered the "welcome home"...although I don't lose sleep over it if I don't get it.

I do agree though that if the feeling you get at that BCV is not one of welcome, then by all means use your points elsewhere. I don't know that I'd sell them...just book the other resorts with them. You may occasionally run into a problem with the 11 vs. 7 month window, but other than that, there's no need to sell. Plus it has been my general experience that there is no problem booking OKW usually, even at the 7 month window.

As an FYI, OKW has the cheapest pints-per-night rate, so look there. It's a lovely resort.

It's a customer service issue. DVC knows that "Welcome home" is important to many members and has probably communicated this to CMs more than once. Keep the pressure up on them and they'll keep the pressure on their CMs.

In the meantime, consider any failure to treat you right as a "training opportunity" that can only be exercised if you politely complain to management. If we get the reputation of being "squeaky wheels" then CMs will treat us better, since complaints go on their records and, when they pile up, can slow down bonuses and promotions.

I have stayed at the BCV several times. The CMs were always friendly and helpful and said Welcome Home. The first time I checked in as a DVC member I was caught off-guard with emotion (I had brought my grandkids, etc.) as I was so looking forward to this trip. I had a catch in my voice and my eyes got teary. I was so embarrassed. The CM - a young guy - was terrific, and helped to ease the embarrassment.

Maybe you should give it another chance. Sandie

If you think about it you were really treated like all of the other BC guests by them not saying welcome home to you. Some members actually like to be treated more like guests of the hotel.

Besides the no welcome home, what else made the check in experience so bad that you wanted to sell your points?

My only issues with BCV check in has been the long wait to check in on one of our trips.

Why I've never been treated like that at BCV and I am a second class citizen! No seriously, what is a second class citizen anyway?:confused3

I can honestly say that in all the many vacations we have experienced since joining the DVC in 1997 only once did we not receive a "welcome home" greeting and that was at Vero Beach. I think that's a pretty good track record for the CMs. By the way it did not detract from our VB vacation in the least!;)

BCV has a history of bad treatment from the front desk to the guests there. I will never stay there because of it. I don't think they will ever be able to get rid of this behavior unless they fire everyone top to bottom, and that will never happen.. I don't know how or why this started there but I have never seen any or heard anything like this happening at OKW for example. DVC members are not looked upon as normal guests there. BC was a deluxe resort for a long time with guests with plenty of money, now with DVC being sold as a savings and people buying into it that are not loaded with money, you may have some prejudice working here against BCV members.

Wow!
That has not been our experiences at all. We have alwaays been treated very well by all the CMs at BCV.

I guess we were lucky, but we posted a trip report last month when we stayed at BCV for 12 days and everything was just wonderful. Got a Welcome Home at the front desk upon check-in, and all the staff were just wonderful the whole time. Never felt like we were treated any different and service was just excellent. But, if we did receive poor service, we would definately complain. That is the only way things can change if service is spotty there.

:sad2:
Sorry, but we have never, never, never had that experience at BCV.

When we stayed at the BCV three weeks ago we got "Welcome Homes" at the Guardhouse and at the Front Desk. The Castmember that checked us in even made a quick trip to the BCV's to make sure our room was ready, before sending us over.

We have had excellent service during all of our visits to BCV.

I disagree completely. We used to stay at the BC before we purchased at the BCV and have never been treated poorly, before or after we became DVC members there.

Just curious. Have you ever stayed at the BCV?

We've had delightful CMs helping us when we checked in and out of BCV. We got "Welcome Home" both times.
