Beach Club Villas

I guess we were lucky, but we posted a trip report last month when we stayed at BCV for 12 days and everything was just wonderful. Got a Welcome Home at the front desk upon check-in, and all the staff were just wonderful the whole time. Never felt like we were treated any different and service was just excellent. But, if we did receive poor service, we would definately complain. That is the only way things can change if service is spotty there.

You were not lucky db78. That's how the vast majority of the guests are treated. Sometimes a bad situation occurs but it is NOT the norm.

BCV has a history of bad treatment from the front desk to the guests there. I will never stay there because of it. I don't think they will ever be able to get rid of this behavior unless they fire everyone top to bottom, and that will never happen.. I don't know how or why this started there but I have never seen any or heard anything like this happening at OKW for example. DVC members are not looked upon as normal guests there. BC was a deluxe resort for a long time with guests with plenty of money, now with DVC being sold as a savings and people buying into it that are not loaded with money, you may have some prejudice working here against BCV members.

NUTS! I am not sure of your source, but we have had friendly and professional service at the front desk as well as all our other encounters at the Beach Club. Sandie B

We have also found the front desk at BC/BCV to be very friendly and eager to serve...at least as good as the few times we stayed at BC. We have also received a number of "Welcome Home" greetings although I'm in the camp that while it's cute it has no impact on my stay.

We have stayed at VWL, BWV and BCV and have always received excellent service. We also have gone to BCV and VWL to eat dinner while staying at other DVC homes and received a nice welcome from security at the gate.

Gosh, a few less than pleased comments and the BCV sky is falling. I am not saying the OP wasn't treated badly, I wasn't there. But then again I don't know that the OP "was" treated badly I wasn't there.

I only know what kind of service we get at BCV and I have never, never been treated rudely. Sure in numerous trips I have gotten a CM that was tired and not having the best of days, but I feel that way sometimes too. I have gotten Welcome Homes and I have not gotten them. It's not the end of the world to me if I don't.

As far as Second Class citizen treatment I truely would love to know what that involves. Unless when I get to the desk they go, "Well look who is here another DVC member, and send me to the back of the line, I can't imagine feeling that way." ::yes::

I am not sure what some expect at check in.

Pa, if you will not stay at BCV based on what you read here I am surprised you even travel. Surely you realize whether you read about it here or not, all resorts including OKW receive complaints. If one resort receives more than another in posts here; it only means more people who stayed there post here. It does not mean that they get more complaints than other resorts. Considering right now OKW is the largest DVC property I would be willing to bet they recieve more complaints than other DVC resorts strickly due to size and the number of people they move through there daily.

All of our vacations are a mixture of wonder and dissapointments.
Perfection is rare. What a blessing to be part of DVC.

Nobody should put up with poor service. If you are not treated correctly  then ask to talk to a supervisor. I am sorry to see that the staff was rude to you or just poor service. I have heard from others about rude or outright poor attitudes from the staff a BCV. Maybe since this a smaller DVC it is harder to give pampered service due to the lack or resources. (ie fewer rooms to choose from:rolleyes: ) I know how it feels to be excited about WDW and to look past the poor service. You need to say something so that DVC can correct any poor service that you received.

I just hope that this was just a blip and not a pattern of future customer service issues thoughout the DVC system.

Greetings,

Our family had our first trip home to BCV in May. I was apprehensive because of all negative things that I had read on this board.

We found the resort and the castmembers to be completely delightful. We had a few problems (of our own making, such as broken eyeglasses, etc.) and the CMs were, in every instance, willing to bend over backwards to help us.

I certainly didn't buy DVC on the basis of Welcome Home. I bought to stay at a resort that I wanted to stay at.

The worst check in experience I ever had was at OKW.

All check ins at BCV and BWV have been wonderful.

We have never had a problem being treated aas second-class citizens. I always have my wife prominently display her finest jewelry, we're sure to wear our designer clothing, and announce loudly that we need luggage assistance at our Jaguar. Seriously, we have not always received the "Welcome Home" at he front desk, but have always been treated to first class service. I can't imagine what went wrong here.

Personally, I HATE the "Welcome Home" phrase...To me it seems phony and condesending but that is just me. I am actually happy when they don't say it at check in.

Secondly, I don't know about anyone else, but I have spent about $30,000.00 on my DVC membership. I don't know how that can be preceived by anyone as being a small amount of money. I didn't buy DVC to "save" money, though perhaps many people have, I bought it to FORCE myself into getting away from it all.

Thirdly, I have always been treated exceptionally well by the staff at the BC and the BCV's. We first stayed there just 3 weeks after it opened in 1990 and have loved it ever since.

Also, pa@okw95, its obvious you have no desire to stay at the BCV's, that is fine, no one is making you. You obviously have an alligance to OKW, at least I assume that by your screenname. I hope you enjoy all of your stays at OKW in the future and continue to have safe and enjoyable visits.

That said.....People.....STOP.....Smell the Roses....You only go this way once. You can NEVER relieve today, that is why it is called the present!

Enjoy Life! How bad can anything really be. Stop sweating the small stuff...If you are at BCV's or at OKW or at Vero, Hilton Head, SSR or stayin at the BW.....You are on vacation, how bad can anything REALLY be??:):):)

What is your source for this "history of bad treatment from the front desk to the guests there" and "DVC members are not looked upon as normal guests there"? Is this any more than your personal opinion? Your stating it as though you had some source to confirm this infomation. If not, perhaps it is best labelled as your opinion. Certainly we are reading multiple posts to the contrary within this thread.

On my first DVC trip to VWL, I encountered really bad, rude treatment by the staff at VWL. So on my first trip to BCV, I was ready to be treated rudely-had my defenses up already. Boy, did they take the wind out of my sails! Couldn't have been nicer to me! Am I saying this because I want to get into a "where are CMs nicer" thing? Absolutely not! Just to point out that rude CMs may exist at all the resorts-let's just hope they're few and far between everywhere! For a while BWV CMs were getting bad "press" on these boards for rudeness, but then when I went there, I got the nicest CM to check me in that I've encountered anywhere (well, almost anywhere-so far I haven't found any nicer than HH)

That's a good one, tell me another.

Beach Club Villas is a AAA rated Four Star property.

BC was a deluxe resort for a long time with guests with plenty of money, now with DVC being sold as a savings and people buying into it that are not loaded with money, you may have some prejudice working here against BCV members.

Yeah, poor people with $15,000 laying around.

I totally agree.

I went back to the front desk later in the week to report a service issue with our room. I went in person because my earlier call had not yet solved the problem. I was disappointed in level of service.

When I got into line waiting for the front desk, there was just one person ahead of me. At that time there were 5 CMs behind the counter. Some had guests in front of them, some were on the phone. The CMs started disappearing one at a time to the point that before I got waited on, there was no one behind the counter for a short time. The person in front of me laughed also.

Yes, there were other people behind me also. That was not the level of service I expected. Eventually they came back one by one and I was able to make my request. I'm glad I was not there to check-in.

Again, my check-in went very well, I went over very early, got our cards and the room was ready later that morning early also. The service issues with the room were of our own making, so I was patient in wainting for them to be resolved. In fact, I sat outside our room in the hallway until nearly midnight waiting for the BC maintenance man. I did not want him to wake the rest of the family that was asleep. I first reported a problem at around 4:30.
It took too many calls and too long to wait for such a minor need.

Did it ruin my trip? No way! Would I go back to BCV? Yes, you bet I would, every chance I could get a reservation again at 7 months.

We stayed at the BWI over Thanksgiving week last year (prior to us becoming DVC Members) and EVERYONE was welcoming us home - and it wasn't even our home yet! :D The security guards at the gate ALLWAYS made us feel welcome, as did everyone else in the resort.

We were getting DVC style service instead of regular resort service (AllStar, Port Orleans, Car. Beach, etc...)

I can't imagine what it will be like checking in at SSR in Sept 2005!

I'll be welcomed home to death! :teeth:

Count me in as one who has received excellent service by CMs at the 3 DVC resorts I've stayed at so far. No complaints here. If a problem does arise, I won't be shy to address it. ;) But so far I'm very pleased with the service and politeness I've experienced.

I feel bad when I hear of isolated encounters with rude CMs, but I'm not at all inclined to form an opinion about an entire resort based on isolated incidents. JMHO.

Exactly. The first step in fixing a problem is to know you have one. It wouldn't be out of line to report any problems as they arise. A good manager will log these complaints and if the numbers are out of the norm would be able to take steps to correct them.

No kidding.

Unfortunately the poster hasn't returned to explain what these opinions are based on. Real problems need to be addressed, of course.
