You'd think by now I would know what we like but can't decide. We've never stayed at either resort, but have stayed at most others including Yacht Club (about 12 years ago). We have 2ds's who will be 15 and dd, turning 9.

Our favorite resort to date was YC, but so long ago and our family is so different now. We loved being able to nap toddlers and then walk over to EPCOT for dinner every night (before BWI). Would still like the convenience of dinner options and the pool, although kids aren't slide fans. Also love the theme at Poly, and convenient transportation (we may not get a car).

We will have a 9 night stay in mid Oct. Also water sports are very important to the boys as well as Disney Quest.

Opinions???

Polynesian is my favorite so that's what I would suggest. It is really nice being so close to the MK.

Which resort's theme appeals to you most? Or you could always do a split stay like 4 nights at one and 5 at the other- that's what I'm doing in May.

Hi we are doing a split stay between both resorts 5 nights at the BCV then 2 nights at the Poly we have two children 5 and 17 months when we travel. I stayed at the BC many years ago it's one of my favorite resorts. My husband always wanted to stay at the Poly he loves the volcano pool and O'hana's I'm also hoping to add another night at the Poly depending on schedules. Have fun planning

Well, I haven't stayed at either - doing YC in May though and Poly in December (probably) - but I am a fan of split stays myself and that is what I would do. Also, wanted to give a piece of advice about booking an Epcot resort in October. That is an extremely busy time at those resorts with the Food & Wine Festival happening and, if that is the direction you go in, I would book it soon. I've heard that AP discounts are difficult to snag and we are waitlisted for our timeframe at the BCVs.

I would do a split stay. The Poly and MK resorts, in general, have better access to water sports. The BC is very centrally located to both Epcot and MGM. It would be easy to park hop to both MGM and Epcot in the same day. the BC also has Stormalong Bay which is nice as well.

I agree that you would have to book quickly for the Epcot resorts as they do fill up for the Food and Wine Festival.

I'm not sure I really want to pack up 5 people mis stay. Sounds like I would be the one left with the work, not to mention losing probably 1/2 day in the process. I hadn't thought about the food and wine festival aspect of EPCOT. I'm sure jenjersnap is right about the high demand here. I wanted to get the AP rate for this stay, and I have been hearing a lot about not necessarily being able to add this on to an existing ressie. Without the AP
rate, I would probably go to a mod. Is there really any reason to make a rack rate now. or do I just need to make sure I call the day AP rates come out?

Which parks are your favorites? If you'll be hanging out at MK a lot, nothing is more convenient than staying right at a monorail resort. We stayed at Poly last November with our 1-1/2 year old twins and loved it there. O'Hanas was great for dinner. We monorailed over to CR for dinner too a few nights. But if you're going to be at Epcot and/or MGM a lot, then I'd surely choose BC. We will be staying at BC for the first time this May.

As far as water sports and Disney Quest, I think both resorts would be about the same. You have to take a bus to DTD from both resorts. I'm thinking the water sports are about the same at both resorts, but hopefully someone else with more knowledge in that department will advise you.

You are choosing between 2 fabulous resorts -- truly, you can't go wrong with either one.

I would not plan on getting an AP rate at an Epcot resort so if you cannot bear the thought of rack rate (and I am totally with you on that one!), go with the Poly.

People have two different opinions generally about whether to book now or wait for AP rates. If you are definitely coming - airfare booked, etc. - you probably want to book what you can afford to pay rack at now. If you can wait it out until AP rates come out, i.e., decide if you are coming at the relatively last minute - then I would do so. I really wonder if, by booking rooms "just in case" it encourages Disney to think they do not have to offer discounts because they are filling up with people they presume are willing to pay rack. Also, I have had no trouble in the past getting an AP discount after booking a rack rate ressie. I simply called at the first available time and inquired about AP availability, booked it and only then cancelled the original ressie. Maybe it's more difficult to transfer than to re-book?

Good luck, whatever you decide! As someone else said, you can't go wrong with either resort!
