DH and I will be taking our final trip on AP's in early March. We'll be staying 5 nights at the Swan on SPG points, and then want to spend our remaining 3-4 nights somewhere else on property.

We're leaning towards either the BC or Poly. I'm torn, and DH says he's fine with either - his only criteria is that we stay somewhere we haven't before.

I'm not terribly familiar with either, but both seem to get rave reviews here on these boards, but are very different. More of me is leaning towards the Poly due to the possibility of getting one of those fabulous new rooms, being on the monorail line, and staying at a MK resort after spending the first part of our trip on the Epcot side. We also LOVE Kona! But, I don't like the idea that the Poly doesn't have king beds in their regular rooms, and that we might not get a new room.

The BC seems like a great option because of SAB, the convenience of the other resorts/Epcot/MGM, and the chance to get a king bed. The main draw for me would be SAB, but I also know that weather that time of year could be a bit iffy, and it might very well be too cold to enjoy that.

What would you do, experts on these resorts? The price difference is not terrible between the two (although the Poly is more expensive), so I really want to go with the one that seems like the best fit. We will have a rental car, so we typically use that to most parks, unless they're within walking/monorail distance.

TIA! :earsgirl:

If you are staying first at the swan, I would do the Poly. This will give you a real change of atomosphere (one epcot area, one MK area).

YC and Poly are the two resorts I have stayed at the most, and I would do the Poly, for the same aforementioned suggestion. You are so close to the YC at the Swan, that the Poly really gives you a change of scene and you can do EPCOT and MGM while you are there and save MK for while you are at Poly. I love SAB and the YC, but if it is just the two of you, I think that the Poly is more romantic.

I would definitely agree with the above. I would stay at the Poly if you are already staying at an Epcot area resort already. While you are at the Swan, visit Epcot and MGM then save the MK while you're at the Poly. Also spend some time relaxing on the beach and visiting the other monorail resorts.

Another vote for the Poly. Exotic foliage, great staff, O'Hana's, the Electric Water Pagent, the MK in sight......paradise. I loved the size of the rooms too! I liked Beach Club....but I really like the Poly. To me the Poly was Disney and the BC was any other high end resort (please don't flame me....I liked it....I swear.....I just liked the Poly more....). Whatever you decide have a great time!

Pros for Poly:
-on the Monorail and access to MK ferry
-walkway to TTC
-tropical feeling keeps you relaxed and feeling as though your in the islands
-can't beat seeing Cinderella Castle outside you room
-Captain Cooks is open almost all the time allowing for a quick breakfast or a late night snack (and you can fill up those refillable mugs at all times during your trip)

Pros for Y&B:
-walkway to Epcot
-boat to Epcot or MGM
-best pool (by far) on property
-a bit more upscale feeling (could be a con, depending on your preferences)
-Beaches and Cream has some of the best burgers on property

I'm not going to do con's b/c frankly, i don't like cons, especially with Disney! Good luck making the decision. Both are great, but from my siggy you can tell my families preference!

As much as I love the BC, I am going with the crowd on this. The Polynesian would be great .. new restaurants, new area .. and the monorail.

But a word of warning, stay away from Cap't Cook's .. bad food! Be sure to try Kona Cafe .. it's great! :)

Another vote for the Poly. To me it just seems 'warmer' then BC, maybe because it's one of the original resorts on property and had more detail put into it then the newer resorts.

I have to disagree with your assessment of Capt. Cook's, (and whole-heartedly agree with your assessment of Kona). We ate there several times on our last two trips and found no problem with the food, the cleanliness or the atmosphere. Yes, it is not four star dining, but certainly edible, and it sure beats ordereing a $12.00 burger from room service if you want a snack. That aside, We did a split stay between YC and Poly our last trip and it was great. After staying in the EPCOT area for four days when we switched to the Poly it was like starting a whole new vacation! New hotel, new restaurants, the MK, (which we saved until we got to the Poly), it really made for a great overall trip. I would definately recommend going with the Poly or one of the other MK resorts for the second half of your trip.

If you're asking my opinion it's the Poly hands down. The tropical Polynesian atmosphere can't be beat. Also, seeing the castle from the pool and the Poly beach is magical to us. We love watching Wishes at night from the pool and beach and then seeing the Electrical Water Parade. Truley a great Disney experience!

because I LOVE both the Poly and the B/C. For years, the B/C was our favorite, but if I absolutely had to pick, the Poly is nos #1. However, we like to toggle back and forth between the two and then sometimes for smaller trips we try a totally different resort. Think about whether you plan to spend more time at MK or Epcot/MGM...that might be a good way for you to decide. Both resorts offer a totally different experience. The Poly is sooo relaxing and magical and having the monorail, and like you said the possibility of the new rooms is tempting. But, the Epcot resort area is fantastic. It's a hard one. The good news is whichever you pick, you'll have a great time.

I really think since you're staying at the Swan, why not stay at the Poly...that way you'll experience the MK area as well as the Epcot resort area.

Poly hands down. I have stayed at the YC and we hated the buses. I think it was 5 stops and seemed to take forever. If I am paying for a value I would expect more buses but a deluxe should have better bus service. We loved the monorail at the Poly and we loved the feel of the Poly better. The pool at the BC/YC is the best through.

We were at the Poly this year for the first time and my family LOVED it! I don't see us even trying anything else at this point. The atmosphere, the food, the convenience! The fireworks! The beach! The pools! Good luck!

Are the rooms at the Poly larger then the rooms at the BC?? Also, is their a CS at the BC?? I'm between these two resorts also. Also thought about the CR because of the convenience but always disliked that resort.
