One-Time Use Points Questions

I have never bought one-time use points. I have a few questions. I realize they can be purchased for reservations only at the 7 month mark. I also know that they cannot be banked, borrowed, or transferred. What I don't know is if my name has to be on the reservation using these points. Also is there a way to purchase the points, make a reservation, and then modify it online? I understand the reservation still has to be within the 7 month mark. Finally, are they still doing the $99 membership perk where you can buy 12, get 24 points? If so, again would my name need to be on the reservation? I'm short a few points for a reservation for a friend, so any information will be appreciated.

I’m not sure if they could be bought from MS in someone else’s name but you could buy them in your name of course.

You can modify that reservation but since it will most likely be in your name it’s best to cancel and then book a new reservation with there name on it.

While it’s true OTUP has to be used at 7 months they don’t actually have to be purchased then. If you are planning a trip in December and have an August use year you can call MS on January 1 and make a reservation for August 1 to buy the OTUP. You can then cancel the reservation and in May you can book the December reservation online at 8 am rather than waiting for 9 am to call MS and possibly miss out on your room.

They are still offering the BOGO after buying the MMB for $99. MS should be able to do have you buy MMB and the OTUP all on the same call.

You can buy them for any reservations you are making on your membership.

It doesn’t matter who the guest is. Reservations with them can be modified online.

And, yes, MMB for 2026 comes with the BOGO OTU point benefit.

Good to know that I can go ahead and put her name on the reservation when I call to purchase. Would any of the other MMB benefits apply to her, or is it just for me, the owner?

Those just apply to you as well as all other DVC benefits.

. Even the reservation you are making is technically your reservation. She is just the guest.

That is why it doesn’t matter when buying OTU points because you are buying them to use within your membership!
