Beach Club - is it just me?

I don't really care about the theme, as long as it's clean and fresh. For me it's about location and amenities. I love being steps from Epcot, I love SAB, and I love the whole Boardwalk area. Those are the selling points. :D The BC is an AMAZING resort and one of the best at WDW!

I somewhat agree with OP. My favorite resorts as far as theming are AKL, Poly, and WL. At the deluxe level, I also like GF better than BC for theming, even with the stuffiness factor (disclaimer: I've never stayed at GF, only visited). Could probably also add OKW to that list.

At the moderate level, I like the theming of POR and CSR better than BC.

YC and BWI almost seem like hybrids between GF and BC (from both a stuffiness and theming standpoint).

We book return trips to BC because we do split stays and it's a fantastic location for the EP/HS portion of the vacation. We've considered the other two EP area resorts (YC and BWI) but neither seem quite as kid-friendly as BC and even though I think SAB is somewhat overrated, I still prefer it over BWI's clown pool (even though the clown pool waterslide is better than SAB's waterside, clown notwithstanding).

On my most recent trip to BC (May 2014), the resort was looking a bit worn around the edges. This did detract somewhat from the ambiance IMO. Given that they just did a soft interior refurb, I'm expecting things to look a lot better on our next visit.

I live in the northeast and I'm not a fan of WL. I have no desire for the "outdoorsy" feel. Camping or wilderness hold no appeal to me.

I love the BC. The lobby and its wonderful scent. It feels beachy to me. SAB is amazing.

We recently stayed at BC. I did not care for the resort or the layout. AKL is the resort we love. However, you just cannot beat the location of the BC. We loved spending a day in the parks, taking a little break then walking to EPCOT in the evening. We also found the CMs to be great at BC. They were always offering to help in any way they could.

we vacation at the jersey shore every summer and i always say that the beach club just feels like any hotel at the jersey shore, but not in a themed way, just in a boring way. so, yes, i agree.
We'll have to have a chat on that

We felt the same way looking at resorts....coming from the northeast I don't want a woodsy feel! Going to Florida I love the idea of a beach and water, so while the theming might not be as extravagant, it's still appealing. That being said I think that the proximity to Epcot and SAB are just hard to beat overall. Really looking forward to our stay! I don't think the OP meant to knock BC just questioning the tamer theme. Understated maybe.
