Beach between GF and Poly Closed

Just back from a visit to WDW last week. Taking the romantic advice from this website, we decided to walk along the beach from GF to Poly just after sunset. My DH thought you could only use the sidewalk, but a CM at GF who was putting up the beach chairs assured him we COULD walk along the beach to the Poly. What we couldn't see in the near dark was a tall brown wall blocking off the beach just before the Poly and a sign saying "Use monorail to get to the Poly". To make a long story short, Disney is refurbishing the sidewalk between GF and Poly and have closed off the entire beach in the area they are refurbishing all the way down to the water. You could step around the tall wall in the dark, getting a little water on your shoes, and continue down the beach not going anywhere near the sidewalk, but keep in mind that the workers are refurbishing at night, so you may be seen and feel embarassed!

If you had not been by this area in the daytime, you would not know in the dark it is closed until you reach the big brown wall!

Not sure how long this section of the beach will be closed.

Thanks for sharing that info with us. I'm sure it will help some others. BTW I live about 30 miles from Tallahassee. Wonder if there are other Disers near here.

I was there the third week of January. My brick (within the walk) is right near the Poly on that path. I stood out there for about 1/2 hour, looking for my brick, reading many, many of them, but to no avail. I finally went into the Poly and asked at Guest Services if they could look up my brick's number and location. They did. Told me it was right where I was looking, only probably just behind that refurbishment wall. I went back out and started looking at the brick numbering sequence, and sure enough, my brick is within the path that's under refurbishment right now. The first time I went, my brick hadn't been installed yet, and when I finally got back there last month, it's not reachable! So after 13 years, I still have yet to actually see my brick! I was pretty bummed out. But then again, it only gives me another reason to go back, right?

OH man... that is a bummer about the brick.
(and about that part being refurbished -but then I guess they gotta do it sometime)
