Hi
I'm asking this on behalf of a friend who is visiting in two weeks. I'm fairly well versed and try to offer good advice. She got advice, however, from an "expert" whose wife has a side business planning people's WDW trips. My friend was told:
You don't need a reservation for lunch for BoG for the entire family (of 5). Just make the reservation for two, and that way, since it's a buffet, you can split your meals with the rest of the family. Also, the way BoG works is that you check in at one place, tell them you are two people, as it is in the reservation, but then you have to wait in another place. While you're waiting on the bridge, have the kids sneak over onto the bridge with you. The person at the first check in doesn't talk to the person at the second check in, so when they call you at the restaurant itself, they'll ask you how many people you are and you now tell them 5 and you'll get a table for 5, even though you're only paying for 2.
OK, so I know that almost everything in this "advice" is wrong, except for waiting on the bridge. I have set my friend straight and suggested the will need to cancel her reservation or end up eating without her kids. I also pointed out that she will be stuck paying for the lunch if she refuses the table for 2, since she is holding the reservation with a credit card.
Am I wrong about any of this? BoG is not a buffet, right? The check in person ABSOLUTELY checks in with the table person, obviously. They are bringing you to a table of your size as per your reservation. They are not waiting at the doors of the restaurant to first see how big of a party you are, right?
I can't imagine how many people this PAID EXPERT has led astray and what other bad advice they are giving.
