...Do I really need to be there at 4 am? Our flight departs at 6am- are there personell at the airport at 4:30am (we're flying Delta)? I was planning to be there at 5am- or maybe 4:45 am...has anyone experienced long waits at such an early hour of the day???? Do I really need to be there 2 hours prior?

I would look on the Delta website or call Delta at BDL. Find out what time the ticket counter opens. You would be surprised at the number of people at the airport early in the morning for the first flight.

Ticket counter probably opens at 5, probably the same for curbside. But call them at BDL and find out.

My job sometimes requires me to fly these fligts. I have never needed more then an hour. (That said, I have not done it in Baltimore)

I've taken that 6am flight before a couple months after 9/11. We were dropped off at the airport at 4:30 and walked right thru security and were at the gate around 4:35. I imagine an hour ahead would give you enough time, especially if you use curbside check-in or just have carryone. It's standing in line for the counter to check luggage that I find takes the longest. I'm now a firm believer in curbside check-in. Well worth the few bucks tip.

Thanks for the ideas- I checked Delta.com and curbside opens at 4:15 and the counters open at 4:30- good advice, safetymom!!

We have also had 6 am flights from Bradley and arrived before 5 am - about the same time the counters opened. So much easier to move around then.

We just flew out of BDL on Delta (1/18/04). Our flight was at 6:05 we arrived at the airport a couple minutes before 5:00 am (it was a Sunday) we used the skycap no wait and we were through security in just a few mins.

A quick & painless process...thank goodness! The new "A" Terminal is so much nicer then the "B" Terminal Delta use to fly out of.
