Do we want to celebrate DS5's Birthday with Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner at Chef Mickey's?

Is this the best charater meal for a birthday?

When we did CM's for Dinner for DS birthday he got a cupcake, card & they sang to him.

I think that CM will be a very nice festive place for a b-day. I think that he will have an awesome time! THe characters will be super special and it should be a great time!

We celebrated my nephew's 6th bday at CM's, it was great.

CM's takes a photo of everyone, its optional to purchase. They are able to add a Birthday "burst" to the finishe photo, a really nice touch so make sure they do that for you. I bought our package.

- My nephew as given a laminated placemat to use and take home. He eats on it daily now.
-He also got a Mickey cup cake, he's an icing boy so it was perfect.
-They did a round of the singing and napkin waving in honor of "our pal Zeke".

It was a great time and place for a birthday celebration. We'll be back to try dinner next time. :thumbsup2

Personally I wouldn't order a special cake. There are plenty of sweets on the buffet and the guest of honor gets a cup cake. More just seems like overkill to me. :confused3

I ate at Chef Mickey's for my birthday dinner last year. It was great!! I got a special cupcake and a laminated placemat with all the characters signatures. It was on our last night at Disney and the whole experience ended our trip on a high note. And let me just say the whole experience is not just for kids. When I made my ADR, I didn't even mention it was for my birthday. But when our server saw my birthday button, she made a big deal about it. It was a truly fabulous experience. :thumbsup2

My kids celebrated their 8th and 13th birthdays this past Oct. at CM(dinner) and it was WONDERFUL! They each got a card signed from the characters, 2 place mats, cupcakes with a candle and the characters sang and danced the Happy Birthday song! They LOVED it and so did the "grownups"!

The only thing I would not do again is call WDW and order a special cake. It was made especially for them with their fav. char. and their names and ready for us at our ressie time. It was soooooooooo cute and very inexpensive BUT, they give you the cupcake and there are so many desserts. I agree with the other poster. It was really overkill and not needed.

Best Wishes!:)

Thank you. You both just totally answered so many questions for me!
Do either of you have a picture of the cupcake?

How much is the photo package? Is it just the family or are characters in it too?

Is the placemat already signed when you get there or do they sign it for you when they come to the table?

A few years ago we celebrated my Dad's birthday at Chef Mickey's and after we told our server she then told Goofy who brought out a cupcake with a candle, so we were happy with that.

I don't know how much the photo package is, my mom bought it and we split the photos, giving her the large photo in the paper frame that the package comes with. They take your photo as a group or family before you are seated. I don't know about telling them about the special birthday effects though. You can purchase different packages or just one picture. The picture is made in front of a statue of Mickey in chef garb and is very cute and worth what ever the price is!

I have pictures, but have not downloaded them onto my new computer yet, sorry!

The place mats are preprinted, signed and laminated but are very cute and a great gift!

Do either of you have a picture of the cupcake? Check the food photo thread, I saw a photo there recently, perhaps in the last 10pgs?

How much is the photo package? Is it just the family or are characters in it too? $30-34 with taxes. The photos are just of the family standing at a CM "podium". They include a pre done 8x10 of all the characters on the opposite side of the frame. They take the photo then bring the package to your table; you decide then if you want to purchase it.

Is the placemat already signed when you get there or do they sign it for you when they come to the table? It's pre done. I think there is a partial shot of the placemat in the photo with the cupcake.

One thing I told my nephew before the trip: "Mickey has invited us to his restaurant when we get to Disney." Helped fan the fire! ;) He was beside himself with excitement at Chef Mickey's, even in the waiting area. We got some awesome candid shots of him there.

Okay, I am sold.
I just have to decide if it will be Breakfast or Dinner?

I am considering Donald's B'fast at Tusker House so maybe I will do a Chef Mickey Dinner?

We celebrated my 36th birthday at Chef Mickey's in December~ They made it so very special for me. Mickey came and danced at my table and it was hilarious! It is something that I will truly never forget.

I celebrated my 34th at CM dinner, it was our nieces pick (not my first choice) and it was great fun...all the characters came over to "sing" to me and I ordered a nice little cake. As far as fun and interaction goes it was a 10 but the food was terrible
