I understand that you are not aloud to bring guests to Stormalong Bay... but what about one of the quiet pools? We are going to be staying a BCV and my brother and his family that live in Florida are going to come and see us for the day. Going to one of the park is not in the cards for them right now financially and we need a place where we can visit and the kids can play. This is our once a year visit and we just want to hang out. Any suggestions.... Thanks:wave:

Only hotel guest can use the pool. The only way is if you have room add them to the reservation. Sorry but you might want to go to DTD and let the kids go in the fountans that shoot water in the air. Just a thought.

There are no wristbands at the quiet pool at BCV. The wristbands are just to keep people out of Stormalong bay.

In fact, I'm pretty sure the policy only says "no pool hopping to Stormalong Bay or Uzima Pool"

Doesn't say anything about the quiet pool.

Actually I misread - I thought you were talking about pool hopping.

Non hotel guests can't go into hotel pools - this is totally independent of pool hopping which is a DVC privilage.

I would ask the front desk or the folks at the desk in BCV.

The pool at BCV is usually not very busy at all. Others have posted that guests of guests are allowed under certain circumstances.

It's not the same thing as pool hopping IMO.

And if they say no, you could still enjoy the grounds, cook on the grill, walk around the lake, check out the action on the BW.

ITA there is plenty to do and it never hurts to ask.

You also have Miniture golfing at the S/W

By the way, no pool hopping at the BC/YC/BCV includes ALL the pools at BC/YC/BCV, not just SAB per DVC rules.

There are signs at each of the pools that state the pool is for the use of the guests of that resort. Not the guests of the guests. If you booked them a room for a day, they could use SAB with you. Or you could all go to TL or BB and swim together.

How about the water parks? Not as expensive as the regular parks and I believe you get a few bucks off the price of the tickets.

Thanks for all the info. I'm not into breaking rules that is why I asked. Still unsure of what we will be doing but it will not include any of the BCV pools.

As FL residents, your friends should be able to get a discount on tickets. Probably including water park tickets.

I actually have this come up every time I go to Florida, being a dvc family we go once a year to one of the DVC resorts. My husbands sisters live in the Melbourne area and always come to visit us for the day at whatever resort we are at. The one sister brings her 2 children (12 & 6) so in tow there is four people. I always inform them at the desk they are coming for a visit and they usually spend the day at the pool with us and have lunch. I really did not know that we could not do this and in the 12 years we have done it the staff at any of DVC properties including VB, BWV, VWL, OKW has never told us "no it is not possible". I have never stayed at BCV and knowing how strongly they inforce SAB pool I see how this could be a problem, but the quiet pool really how could there be a problem? I would just be honest and ask when you arrive. Thats what I have done not knowing there was even a rule.

So, now you know the rules. And you are breaking them according to the signs at the pools. It's not really fair to the other guests who have paid to stay at the resort for you to bring extra people to the pool who haven't paid to stay there.

Ummm I think I have just been scolded...it was never intentional that I broke the "rules". I never even knew it was a rule until this thread appeared. We made this purchase at BWV 12 years ago and added on at VB both as our "Home away from Home" I would never take advantage of anyone "paying" to stay at the resort seeing as how I pay quite a bit of dues on the 550 points I own, I have never rented my points or sold them they are for me and my brothers families personal use. I guess I just did not think I would never have to defend having my sister-in-laws over for 3 hours and eating a hot dog by a pool. Most of my visits are in the winter so be assured my niece and nephew rarely swim because of the 60 degree temperatures so they are not using any "square footage" of pool space that the "real paying guests" are using. Sorry again to upset anyone but honestly I had no idea this was such an issue and DVC never scolded me when I told them we were expecting guests...

Home away from Home is the slogan.

If this is cleared with the desk, I see no issue. Pool hopping is done by offsite tourists and onsite guests from other resorts that just do it. No asking just bold flat out theft of facilities as I see it. This is what should be stopped through enforcement and is not.

It's funny, I noticed during my last stay at BCV that they check your resort ID to get a wristband to gain access to SAB, where does the resort ID say anywhere on it that you are staying at any particular resort? Must be a coded number, I can't tell.

You are able to invite day guests to your villas and we have done this and notified the desk and guard house as well. Those guests, however, are not allowed to use the pools, health clubs, etc.

I would either book a villa large enough to have room keys for those visitors if they want to swim, or book a one day studio room for them so that they could enjoy the pool facilities.

On many of my BWV stays they have "carded" people at the pools in order to keep out those who are not resort guests. I have to believe since the rules are so strict to enter Stormalong Bay that they know for sure who they are issuing wrist bands to there....

FYI:This is the photo of the pool sign at POFQ, there is one at every Disney pool with the same language.

I guess it is a good thing that I always book a 2BR for my family of 4, this way I will never feel guilty and I will be well within the rules of visiting the pool when I invite guests, I will just now have their names added to the reservation for the one day they visit. This whole thing kind of makes me smile that in all the years I have done this I have been well within my room occupancy to have them over! Maybe I'll book a grand villa and have a pool party with all my extended family...:lmao:

Sure you can have your family of 8 in your 2 bedroom unit for one day of your stay. You can even invite them to enjoy the whole vacation with you if you like! ;) Just remember though, that if you have the DDP they will be added to the plan for the entire length of stay.

As far as the Grand Villa, well sure as long as your extended family totals 12 or less! We are hoping to do that one of these years as well. Alas, 1020 points just don't seem to stretch far enough...

No 3 hours is just enough time for a quick dip, slide and hot dog :thumbsup2 , and for the grand villa well it took 1 year of banking and a couple nights borrowed but YES it was worth every bit of our points to have that BW view grand villa when we brought the gang with us! As for the DDP never used it and probally never will but thanks for the reminder if the mood ever strikes to give it a shot! And yes the total of extended family in FL is under 12, now here in the northeast there is no way I think we lost count at about 57!
