I have been on these boards since 1997 and nothing surprises me. There is one common thing that does trouble me and this has been true over the years(it used to be a lot worse) is that you can not post negative posts without someone sooner or later making some personal attack, instead of addressing the problems. Now the subject of BCV has come up with many posters giving negative experiences regarding the rooms, front desk treatment, the management, etc. One post stated that I do not like BCV, well he has got that right. I would never stay there because I do not stay in places that I know have problems. The poster than asks what problems and wants me to tell him--well where has he been the last couple of months or for the last year for that matter. The majority of negative reports have come from BCV, most are things that should never happen in a place that charges what they do for rooms. In fact a lot of the things should not happen anywhere. I try to stay in only the best places whenever possible and I am willing to pay for the best, but I must tell you I wonder about people that think what is going on at BCV is ok, well it is not, the prices for a normal room at BCV run from 294 to 459 (a studio) per night, when you pay for a room that is 356 square feet that kind of price you should get nothing but the best. AT BCV you are not getting it. There appears to be little effort to give the guest what they deserve either. These various complaints about BCV have been going on for a least a year. I think they have your money and they could care less about the product they but out over there. I have nothing to go on but the reports that keep coming in about the place--none of these things should be happening.

We stayed at the BCv this past Feb. We had a few minor problems with check in and the condition of the room but other then that we had no problems. I neglected to post how wonderful housekeeping was during our stay so here's the story-

My son caught a stomach virus from my SIL's kids(whole different story ;)) and one day he "got sick" in the middle of our studio. We called housekeeping and asked if we could get some towels to clean it up, they came down with an armful of towels, plastic bags and wash clothes. After we were done cleaning up DH callled and asked where we should bring the dirty towels, he offered to bring them down himself but again they came to our door, all smiles, with a giant plastic bag, we dropped them in and they took them away. We were never charged a dime for the extra stuff and were VERY grateful. The next day he was feeling better and we went out to the parks, they came and did an extra cleaning for us even though we never requested it, again we weren't charged.

Just thought I'd add a story where they went "above and beyond" what we expected at the BCV.

Doesn't this go along with the lines of "bad experiences get reported while good ones don't?"

Being an owner of BCV, and having stayed there twice so far, I have had great experiences. I can admit I didn't run to these boards and post my wonderful room & resort report, I just kept my happy feeling to myself.

I have also stayed at BWV at least twice now, and I have found fault in both of the rooms, but again, I didn't run to the board to post a negative room report.

Just my .02.

I think it's partly a matter of tone.

When a posting has the "I'm right, things are terrible, if you disagree then there's something wrong with you" tone, especially if it's supported by surprisingly little first-hand experience, then people are not only likely but entitled to take offense.

You've already made your oppinion of BCV known several times over so I'm unsure as to why you've chosen to do it, yet again, in another post. It almost seems as if you're trolling for an argument, are you?

I love BCV and think that the rest of the BCV owners on this board are as well. Why you would be so "troubled" by the fact that BCV owners are happy with thier purchase? OKW doesn't appeal to be at all due to it's location and condo like set up, but it doesn't "trouble" me that others such as yourself love it.

And truely, your oppinon of BCV is of no more importance to me than my oppinion of OKW is to you.;)

We are all certainly entitled to our opinions, but shouldn't we have first hand knowledge of our subject before stating such a strong one? Pa@okw95 does not say if he has in fact stayed at the BCV. If Pa@okw95 has not, then he should keep his negative opinions about BCV to himself.

Our family was extremely happy with our treatment last December at BCV. We have never regretted our decision to own there. And I will also second palmtreegirl's statement that mousekeeping was exceptional. They did a great job for us on both Trash & Towel day and Full Cleaning Day. In fact, we had wonderful CMs all around!

Please, everyone, post the positive as well as the negative and perhaps we can overcome the "bad" BCV reviews once and for all!

Thanks for letting me add my $.02 to the mix!

I guess I am at fault to for NOT reporting our wonderful BCV experiences here so here they go...

We have stayed 4 times in studio's and one bedrooms, it is just my husband and myself. Upon each of check-ins, we have always received Welcome Homes. Our last visit, May 2004, was beyond super!!! And here is why,

We had a 2 bedroom reserved. My in-laws were supposed to come with us and at the last minute were unable to come. We thought oh-well, we will really be able to spread out now. So we are checking in and the CM is very chatty with us and he tells us where are room is and we are very excited and joke about the all the room we will have. He said so would you rather have a studio or a 1 bedroom. We said a studio would be just fine. The CM tells us to hold on, he calls member Services, comes back and said it is all taken care of. You will have 64 points put back in your account and have a wonderful vacation. We were floored!!! We never even asked, he just did it himself and it was Sunday and we knew member services were closed. The CM went above and beyond.

On each of our trips we have always been given as many towel as we need. Never a question asked.

The mousekeepers have always had our room done by the time we return from the parks. Maybe we are just lucky.

On our last trip, my husband left a pair of shoes and his bathing suit there. Actually he wanted to throw them away. Well, we were home for 3 days and a package came from WDW. It was his shoes and bathing suit. The mousekeeper thought we left them there by accident and mailed them to us. We laughed so hard because I have been wanting him to get a new bathing suit and the old one keeps coming back to us.

Anyway, we are heading again to the BCV this Thanksgiving and I will report the Good Things that happen, not just the bad.

I hope everyone has a wonderful experience at all the DVC homes!

This tells me two things.

1. LOL - You can't POSSIBLY get out much then, because NO PLACE, ANYWHERE is free of problems. Since you say you travel extensively, I see a contradiction here...

2. You enjoy passing judgement on places you haven't even stayed, and then don't like being judged yourself!

I find that negative posts receive the response they typically deserve. If someone posts in a manner that is found by many to be offensive, arrogant and judgemental, then yes, I find that many DIS'ers let them know it isn't appreciated. And while there will always be those that seem to think Disney can do no wrong, I've seen tons of support for posters that don't act like the world owes them something.

Yes - Presentation is a BIG factor in how criticism is received. I happen to be a BIG believer in constructive criticism, and following through on problems to correct them at the source. And if I ever have any problems at BCV (or ANY resort) I'll be right there working to get it fixed.

We have enjoyed two wonderful stays at BCV, and I look forward to returning there in December. I could stoop to the level of listing all MY perceived criticisms of OKW - but I'll save that judgement until after I have the pleasure of actually staying there so I can make my own EDUCATED decisions. I'm sure it will be wonderful!

I have stayed at BCV several times, as recently as this month, and have never had a problem at the gate, at check-in, with the bus or with housekeeping. We have also stayed at OKW and BWV with slightly different perceptions of quality. I normally don't care about people whining about places they have never stayed at but what amuses me is when you see people make decisions to alter their travel plans based on negative perceptions of other people and posts here.

I wouldn't have said that Pa was anti BCV, or that he bigs up OKW and bashes all the others. Even I've noticed a number of posters reporting problems at BCV recently. I understand him to be saying that for what the resort charges per room, some guests shouldn't have had to experience the problems they did. JMHO

I disagree with the OP far more than I agree but he is entitled to his opinion, just as I am mine.

I have never had a problem at the BCV and I tell that to anyone who will listen. It is a great resort.

OK Pluto, enough whining.

Once you post your opinion on a board you are subject to the responses.

If you are going to continue to post as you have been (and you are entitled to your opinion, therefore, that is not a refection on whether you should or not), then you will need to learn to live with the results.

And just for the record - I have had two great stays at BCV where I have had terrific service. No complaints at all. It is well worth my money.

Do you wonder if certain people bash the more "popular" of the resorts (popularity deemed by size and demand, a la BCV and VWL) to try to entice potential members to buy at places like OKW, thereby increasing the value of those resorts on the resale market?

I guess I'd be trying to do anything I could do to make my purchase look more attractive if there were a ton for sale that didn't seem to be moving as quickly as other resorts, and selling for much less per point than others.

I'm not saying that is what Pa@OKW is doing, but I guess I just try to examine motivations for actions, and this one seems kinda obvious to me.

I love staying at the BCV. I have stayed there twice in the past two years. The first stay, everything was just immaculate and in wonderful condition and the CM's definitely went out of their way from the time we checked our luggage until the time we left. The second stay was wonderful, but there were a few minor problems woth housekeeping and at check in. Does this mean that I will not stay there again because of it, think again. This resort has it all, perfect location. perfect pool, wonderful theme, I just love this place and I do also own at the BWV, but BCV has stolen my heart! All resorts, from time to time will have some problems, some at times bigger than others, that is just a fact of life.

I have never stayed at BCV...but I have stayed at BC(good experince!) and am looking forward to my first stay at BCV for the Food & Wine Festival this October (in a 2 bedroom, no less...I can't believe it!!) Incidentally, I'm an owner at OKW and love it!!

At this point, I simply *don't* know how our experience with BCV will turn out. I can say, though, that after our stay, I will present my experiences truthfully. No punches pulled, lol!!

I have had positive & negative experiences at all the Disney Resorts. My very favorite resorts have let me down at times, and sometimes a not-so-favorite resort has come through with blazing colors. I guess what I am trying to say is that performance levels vary. Still, as a whole, Disney & DVC usually come through and so I am ready to give all the resorts a shot. If I have a negative experience, then I hope no one holds me to blame if I report it & I choose not to visit that resort again. But I'm going to give it a try first!!

Our home resort is OKW. We have stayed there at least 10 times since joining in 1994 and love it. Do I post my wonderful experiences when I return? I have to say not always. We had plans to stay at BCV for the first time in June 2003 and it was right when another BCV bashing had started. We were so worried, we almost changed to OKW. We stuck with our choice and had a fantastic stay at BCV! Many "welcome homes", great CM's and great 1 bedroom. I also have reservations to return to BCV for 12/26-12/31/04 and now it's deja vue! I have decided to stay with BCV again! I have learned not to take every negative post as word. I have my experience to use. I have always made comments to staff about any resort I stay in and get unsatisfactory service.

I'll be staying one night next month at BCV's just to use the pool, so I'll finally be able to comment on the resort.

How each person evaluates a resort comes into play with all these reviews.

You have:

Location
Activities
Pool
Room quality
View
Point cost
Food
Transportation

So lets say I stay at OKW. The 1 bedroom is large and in great shape, but it turns out I prefer a hotel style resort with the ability to walk to the parks. No go here, so I'm disappointed, so any review I do might be tainted. I might even nit pick the room(without realizing it) due to my unhappiness.

This could occur if I stay at BCV and feel cramped in the 1 bedroom as well. For me the room makes up just one part of the overall satisfaction of a resort. Maybe as low as 25%. For others, it might be 75%.

None of this means that BCV might need some improvement in there rooms. If something is broke or doesn't work, call maintanence, send an email when you get home, etc.

It would just seem that the best judges of BCV would be frequent stayers there who can look at the whole resort objectively.

I think until someone has stayed at a place, they need to keep the bashing to themselves.I dont see how you can judge if you have not stayed there.
I have never had anything but wonderful experiences at BCV.

I think until you try it yourself you need to keep the bashing to yourself.

Pa, you are certainly entitled to whatever conclusions you draw about BCV based on various posts that arise. I read everyone's opinions with interest, including yours.

But I haven't wavered from my overall positive opinion of BCV, based on several wonderful stays there. They are obviously doing most things well most of the time, or NOBODY would have a positive report to pass along.

I feel badly when I read about other people's poor experiences at ANY resort or ANY theme park. But I'm not inclined to give up on the entire resort or the entire theme park, especially when my experiences in those places have been excellent. Is that burying my head in the sand or being in denial somehow? No, it is letting my own experiences guide my opinions.

Comment 1

WDW hotels, DVC included, are not the best. I have stayed in hotels that seemed to be perfect -- Ritz San FRancisco a couple of times, Fairmont Chicago to name a couple. These are in the $250 - $450 range, which is what you pay at the better WDW hotels. But the room and service quality far exceed WDW. (No comment on GF comparison here -- never been there.)

At WDW you pay for LOCATION in addition to quality.

Comment 2

Negative comments mean more from some people than from others. I place A LOT less weight on negative comments from posters who post 90% negatively on EVERY subject.

It just AIN'T all that bad guys. And my wife would say I'm a pessimist!! And I really am.
