BCV check in problem

This morning I spoke to a wonderful CM at MS named Michael. I was making our reservations for our August, 2005 trip at BCV. I told Michael that I wanted to be sure that I reserved a two bedroom unit with the second bedroom having 2 queen beds. I also told him that I thought that was what I reserved for last May at BCV but ended up with a queen and a sleeper because the front desk told me that I had not reserved the 2 queens. He checked my last May ressie and told me that indeed I had reserved the 2 queen beds and that at check in they told me this because I was not assigned to what I reserved. I do not like the wool being pulled over my eyes by the front desk. He admitted that BCV has had problems because CM's were not trained properly in the workings of DVC. He said that DVC members should be treated better than the daily guests because we have committed to Disney for 50 years. This guy was so refreshing. He also said that I should call MS if I had problems when checking in. I told him that we always check in over the weekend and MS is closed. He said that was the fault of the members since we voted on having MS open only 5 days a week. I would like to see MS open 24/7. I know that this means a raise in our dues, but I prefer the service and would not think that it would be thar much more. I just want folks to be aware what happened in my situation and I will know be more assertive.

Very interesting Patty3. I remember you reporting that after your last trip. We have a 2bdrm/2Q's reserved in Feb. It doesn't happen to be too critical for this trip but was curious how firm those room types were.

Thanks for posting!

I can certainly understand your frustration with your recent experiences. I hate getting a different story depending on what CM I end up talking to. I keep saying this over and over, but I can't wait until we can do online booking. Maybe it's the control freak in me, but I will never believe that anybody taking my ressie info and entering it in the computer will be as careful or caring as I am for my own ressie!!!

What they need to do is print on the confirmation like they did in the beginning that you have a 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queens booked. What I have been doing is e-mailing MS asking if I have a 2 queen room booked and then once I have the reply saying yes, I print that out and take it with me!

Good idea, Terry. I will remember that. I agree with the thought that this needs to be printed on the confirmation letter.

.
He said that DVC members should be treated better than the daily guests because we have committed to Disney for 50 years.

Personally I disagree with this statement. Everyone should be treated properly. I should not get special treatment. Those other guests could be just as committed (maybe more so since they could be paying rack rates for rooms for the next 50 years! LOL!) What gives some DVC members and AP holders a bad rep with CMs is the "we are special" attitude some people do exhibit

As for me, I would vote no on any dues incresase to fund a 24/7 MS.

I will sometimes call MS back a few days or week later and say "I wanted to make sure I remembered to book .... whatever.... for my room. Is that indicated on the reservation?"

That confirms it for me unless the CM is flat-out lying.

I am a little confused. I thought the 2 queen thing fell into the "request" category. Can we actually "reserve" and/or "book" them? I'm not being ugly, I am seriously needing clarification because I don't want to build up the expectations of 8 people and then tell them to unfold the sofa in the second bedroom :-). I thought there were very few of these rooms so I can't imagine that request being met very often. Does anybody know the "odds" of actually getting it.

Patty3, it does seem like they can't "see" everything and don't know where to look when we are there checking in so they say it's not there which gets annoying..........that is a training issue and that fault falls on management I think.

Yes, members are specifically booked into a room with either 2 queens or 1Q + sofabed.

BCV has a handful of the 2Q rooms. SSR has 20 dedicated 2Bs in each building, each of which has 2 Queens in the second bedroom. All of the 2Bs at OKW have 2 Queens.

I agree with CarolA on both points.

I don't think that MS open 24/7 is generally a necessity and would not want to pay for it.

But I like TerryS suggestion on printing out the email. I'm going to do that tonight for my ressie in March!

And I think BCV has 25 of the 2Qs.

I too vote "no" on the issue of MS 24/7. That could really raise dues, plus it could stretch what appears to be an already 'thin' resource. Besides, other than make ressies, what could they do? In the OP's situation, would a 24/7 MS be able to force the BCV front desk CM to give a 2Q room?

24/7 online ressies gets my vote

As for 2 queen dedicated 2 bedroom.... I have the first 6 of our 7 nights in a dedicated 2 queen 2 bedroom for our October trip and I am waitlisted for the last night.... we have a 2 bedroom queen/pullout for the last night booked but are hoping not to switch.

The above leads me to beleive that they are assigned at time of booking

I'm torn on this issue.

I had posted earlier this summer about a problem upon arrival at BCV. HEY!!! Most days I am happy to just be arriving at WDW. But as a vacation club member I'd like for more attention to be given to my requests and my arrival. I've said it once and I'll say it again. DVC should have their own check-in. The space is there and available just turn left when you enter the door......

CM's should be privy to all information on all guests. It took 5 cast members to help situate us into a 2 bdrm unit with 2 queen beds after 5:00 p.m. on day of arrival.

The 2 Bedroom Dedicated 2 Queen Category is a Reservation, NOT a request. You need to specifically reserve these when making a reservation and you should probably book these at the 11 month booking window as there is only 25 of these at the BCV.

In my opinion what happend at the Beach Club for the OP is that another member who actually booked at 2 bedroom with a Queen and a sleeper sofa came down to the front desk and threw a fit that they wanted 2 queen beds so the OP got bumped from their room. I am not saying this is right, I am just saying this is what I am assuming happened.

Also, just an FYI, I have been told by management at the BCV that they do not allow CRO to book those rooms with the 2 queens they are specifically saved for DVC members.

***" He admitted that BCV has had problems because CM's were not trained properly in the workings of DVC."***

Honestly, that excuse is no longer acceptable. BCV has been open how long now ?? They should be well trained and versed in DVC operations. So what does that mean ? They're too dumb to train ? Would rather lie then have a guest confront them ? Or do they simply just not like DVC members ?

***" He said that DVC members should be treated better than the daily guests because we have committed to Disney for 50 years."***

I don't want to be treated better. I want to be treated the same as every other paying guest. From things I've read I sometimes get the impression CASH guests are treated better because they need to woo them back in the future. When it come to DVC guests: "Hey, we got your money pal".

Now,having said all that:

We've checked into BCV three times now and have never had anything but a great experience. Maybe it's because I'm lucky. Maybe it's because I'm a low maintenance jokester. Maybe it's because I'm just a small town schmuck who'se too obtuse to know when he's being mistreated. Well, I'll just have to see what happens in 25 days :-)

I have been told by MS this too..... AND Boardwalk Views cannot be booked by nonmembers.

Just chiming in to say that the 2bed2Queen is a reservation, not a request.

We stayed in a 2Q in June. It was printed on my confirmation letter and that is what I received.

I too would vote for online ressies, although I think MS does an excellent job and at times it is better to speak to a human.

Although it was printed on the confirmation previously, it is not now. I asked when I got mine, and they said it's not on the confirmation, but is on the ressie.

While I agree each guest should be treated "properly" and respectfully; I feel unit assignments and priorities should be in the order of Member at THAT resort, other members, cash guests then exchangers. Guests of members are the same as the member including renters. As is the case at most timeshares in the World.
