I've noticed in some threads that many references to 'What to do at BCV' includes ammenities at BWV and vice-versa. Are the two resorts really that close together? Is one closer to the International Gateway than the other?

I understand there are boat rides to MGM and Epcot from either, but I thought one of them was just a few minutes walk to Epcot via the International Gateway as well?

Also, I thought there was no pool hopping between the two, is that still the case?

Or am I just incorrectly lumping a bunch of details together in my scrambled mind? ;)

If you are walking, the BWV are about a 5 minute longer walk to the IG than are the BCV. If you are taking the boat, the BWV are closer - the boat goes Studios, Swan/Dolphin, BC/YC/BCV, BWI/BWV, EPCOT IG. The order is exactly the reverse between the IG and the Studios.

I prefer the BWV location - yes, the walk to the IG is a bit longer, but the walk to the Studios is MUCH shorter from the BWV than it is to the BCV. The Boardwalk itself is part of the BWV/BWI resort - some of the BWV & BWI rooms actually overlook the Boardwalk.

That said, it is only a short walk from the BCV (about 5 minutes) to the Boardwalk.

Thanks for your response!

Can you pool hop between the two? I tried to google earth it and I couldn't see a path between BWV and the IG ... it looks like a pretty long hike, how long does it take to walk?

Are either/both of the boths Zero Entry?

To get to the IG from the BW lobby, you just walk down to the Boardwalk, take a right and then walk along with the lake on your left . Continue past ESPN and over the bridge (over the canal) Once you are over the bridge, you take a right, walk down a slight incline (the boat dock will be on your right) and you are there. It takes 5 - 10 minutes. For some reason, I can walk faster in the morning than I can in the evening, LOL.

If you are staying at the BCV on points, you may hop to the BWV pools as long as pool hopping isn't blacked out for the day.

No one may hop to the pools at the BCV or the AKV. Pools at those resorts are not available to anyone who isn't actually staying at the resort.

I believe there are portions of SAB that are zero entry, but IIRC, Luna Park does not have zero entry. None of the quiet pools (including Dunes Cove at BCV) have zero entry.

There is no pool hopping to the BC (Stormalong Bay), but you can hop to BWV. Stormalong Bay has zero entry, Luna Park doesn't.

The resorts are in a circle loop with Crescent Bay in the middle. You can easily walk from BCV to BWV to S&D as well as walk to IG or DHS from any of them. The walk to DHS is shorter from BWV, the walk to IG is shorter from BCV but you can walk to either from either resort easily. The walk from BWV to IG is probably 10 minutes at a comfortable pace, from BCV to IG it's 5 minutes. To DHS, from BWV it's probably 15 minutes and from BCV 20-25 minutes.

Thanks for your replies!

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with what S&D and DHS stand for?

Is DHS Disney Hollywood Studios maybe?

Thank you again!

Other than the pool hopping thing, it certain sounds like BWV is the better location ... both from a walking access perspective as well as a water access perspective.

Of course, from the other things I've read, it could be a very long walk just to the elevators.

Its really a matter of opinion. Some people really like the BW, some people really like the BC. If you are looking for which resort to own, I think the questions you have to ask are a little different than if you are asking which resort you should try and book once the seven month window opens (or rent).

My own opinion is that location wise, the two resorts are a wash, and it really comes down to (ownership wise) do you want the home resort advantage for the Boardwalk View or Standard View rooms or would you rather have it for SAB and the dedicated 2 Queen 2 bedrooms. Then again, I commonly walk a lot at Disney, and have been known to walk around the lake after spending all day on my feet at the parks because I think walking the lake is a pleasant stroll. Staying wise, I think the answer is "book what you can get" with the deciding factor being whether want SAB (I think its a cool pool, I think its a frightening pool with kids of a certain age) - or have a preference for the feel and decor of one resort over the other.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions! I think I've decided to give the BWV a try first ... ;)

Any room suggestions? :D
