I thought he was gone, but now he's back! DH got a picture of him and as soon as he puts it up where I can post a link, I will!

Must be more than one because I witnessed them taking one out and loading it into a truck last month. That six footer was just behind the bus stop area. How long was the one you saw?
It was amazing watching a man actually jump on the gator's back and wrap his mouth and tail.

You can't get rid of alligators in Florida. When I lived in Gainesville there was a harvest of 1,000 from two relatively small lakes nearby and the next week you couldn't detect even a slight decrease in their numbers.

When you take an alligator out of a "territory", it usually doesn't take long for another one to discover the vacancy and claim the space for its own. Animal Control will then remove the gator once they reach a certain length, I don't remember how long though...

There were 3, now there are 2.

Please don't feed them or there will be none.

I believe the length is 5'. Under that they are "babies".

And I had heard before from a CM that there were more than one in the water running along the BC/YC.

In July we looked everyday and never once saw any alligator. Nice to see the mascot back. Just look before you leap into the BCV quiet pool! ;)

(Really, our neighborhood pool is by a lake and I have to look before the kids get in cause snakes like to take dips in it!)

Thanks for sharing! I've been telling my family about the BCV gator and everyone has been looking forward to seeing a "real" gator in the wild. DS is especially excited. We just hope he doesn't decide to feed the gator his sister! ;)

Thanks for posting the pic. My DS was bummed to hear about Al being made into a Prada handbag. He's gonna be stoked to see that shot!
