BC 2 BR's...WOW! Now I get it...

So we have been with DVC about 3 years now, and we stayed in our first 2 BR this week. Its just 2 of us, so a studio is usually what we go for, but this trip we were with another couple, so we opted for a 2 BR at BC. Holy cow! Now I see where the "addonitis" comes from, cause i was instantly wondering how many points I would need to add to travel like this at all times....

So I realize there was probably no need for a new thread on this, but I just had to share

That is so funny! We did a 1 BR last Christmas (also BCV) on points and had a few cash days in a studio at the end.

Well we got upgraded to a 2 BR - would it be impolite to say I almost peed my pants when we got in there? (probably) It was amazing - my kids were more astonished than my husband and I. And we definitely don't have enough points to stay in a 2 BR!

I can't wait to some future trip when we can save up enough points (or add on at some point) to do more 2 BR stays!

Waaaayyyyy before we became DVC members, friends took us to HHI for Spring Break and we all stayed in a 2 bedroom. Knowing how the points work, and how many they had at that time, I was seriously impressed that they booked it and requested us to pay nothing.

Of course we later paid them back when we joined the DVC and used them as a referral.

Anyway, I covet the 2 bedroom, and know what it is like. Defintely want to stay in one someday, but for now, maybe a 1 bedroom will be out "treat."

We started off with a 50 pt contract and with banking/borrowing for our 1st trip we stayed 2 nights in a 2BR at BCV and 3 nights at a 2BR in AKV Kidani (standard view). I know just what you mean by the "holy cow"--the first thing we did when we got into the room was pull out the camera and take photos! As for addonitis--we loved BCV so much that we just added on points there!

We go through alot of points because we only use 2 bedrooms, our trips usually have 4 - 9 people and sometimes more. Add-on-itis hits quite often.

I highly suggest you never try a grand villa..

Wait to you try an OKW or Kidani 2br, they have a significantly "bigger" feel

DH will often relate the story of first time we stepped into a 2BR unit (which was at HHI). We were both wowed. It opened up a whole new way to travel for us.

In June we stayed in a GV at SSR with our DD, DS, DDIL, DSIL, 2 DGS and my parents(they live in FL and were only with us for 2 nights)Awesome! Then in Nov. we stayed in a treehouse with DB, DSIL and niece and nephew, again awesome! In May we have a res. for a BW view studio. We are excited to finally be able to stay in a BW view but are already laughing about how spoiled we have become because we will miss our king sized bed, jetted tub, and the kitchen. DVC has really changed how we vacation. 3 years ago when my niece was 8 we had an evening flight and wouldn't be arriving until after 11pm. (ended up delayed and we never got to WDW until 3:00am) We had booked 1 night at ASSp before checking into our 2 bdrm the following morning. We got to the hotel exhausted and my niece took one look and said "What the heck is this?" "Where's the kitchen?" We still laugh at our resort snob.

If that's how you feel about a 2br, do not try a Grand Villa.

Kids off to one bedroom, sister who's in a major sulk to hers. DH needs a nap from making sister sulky to the master and I get the whole living room to myself to decompress.

just coming back from a 2br at kidani I know we will be traveling that way often also since the kids are so far apart it will someday be a necessity.

Well it went off better than I expected, TK didn't come home in a body bag! She enjoyed most of the restaurants and actually rode some rides! Loved the shows, 3D movies and fireworks etc.

She actually did well in the rain at MK the one day, she just loves here WDW poncho she bought(even though she had her rain coat).

Just got a little cranky about being told constantly to try to keep up, luckily eldest DS was glad to have someone to dawdle with.

And surprise we didn't lose DH at AK this trip!

Villa/condo-style vacations are just infinitely more pleasant than "just hotel rooms". When it's the four of us, I consider a 1BR a "squeeze". Doable, but not entirely pleasant.

After 2 trips staying in a 1 bedroom villa with a family of 4, we have decided that it's only going to be 2 bedrooms from now on. Unmaking the sofa bed every night, and then remaking it every morning got old really quick. You have to put the sofa up if you want to enjoy the living area. I had 2 week long trips planned for next year in 1 bedrooms. I called MS when we got back after Thanksgiving, and changed both to 2 bedrooms. When you really look at the point difference between 1 and 2 bedrooms, it's not that bad.

We love the 2bd for all the space too. But...A few years ago...
We had our two young teenagers, DS and DD and showed them the room they would be sharing. My "lovely" daughter was indignant that she would have to share the room with her brother. "That's just wrong," she whined. I had to enlighten her that she needs to realize she is staying at WDW, and has her own queen sized bed. She finally got it. I guess the kids can get spoiled too. At least now that she has grown out of that teenage stage, she really does appreciate how fortunate we are to be able to vacation in such comfort.

A two bedroom suite at Disney is the only way to go for my family. It is me, DH and we have 2 lovely DD's. So DH feels a little overwhelmed by females some times. So he gets his privacy. Plus our girls just love their own room, and so do we. And boy are we spoiled by those rooms. At Thanksgiving we went to Texas to see our parents and had to stay in regular hotel rooms and the girls and DH were going nuts. They kept saying "This ain't no Disney, that's for sure!" Thank you DVC for the lovely rooms that are offered!

We stayed in our first 2BDR (BCV) 2 wks ago. We had planned on having another family with us but circumstances changed and WOW!!! When the girls were making us nuts - off to THEIR room. No sharing a bathroom!! And they could watch THEIR TV shows and we didn't have to hear them!!!
While we will not be doing a 2 BDR often until they get older I can see how easy it is to get spoiled!!!!
