BBB NOT for Teens

OK so I want to clarify that I certainly don't think any of the little girls are anything but adorable, they are just playing dress up after all! I am also not going to comment on anyone's picture in particular...I would never want to hurt someones feelings! So I can't really point out any picture in particular, but a lot do seem to have copious amounts of blue eyeshadow, bright pink rouge, very colorful and spiky hair, and glitter, glitter everywhere! I don't know about anyone else, but If I saw someone sporting that look in "real" life...well I might put that in the slightly trampy category (no offense if that's what you wear! I am very much a "to each their own" sort person! I personally probably sport some down right awful looks more often than I would like to think)
Don't get me wrong! If my daughter wants the makeup slathered on like frosting on a cupcake, and wants every color of the rainbow in her hair, I am all for it!! Just that, you know...she won't be walking out of the house like that until she is old enough to figure out how to do it behind my back!!!
Oh and the little girl in the photo above is super cute, and it doesn't even look like she has makeup on! I just got the impression from the other photos I have seen, that at BBB more is more! (and why shouldn't it be? It's fun that way!)

See, I have seen people on this forum make exactly these statements - they have seen girls or pictures of girls with tons of make-up on, but when you show them pictures of kids they say - well that one looks ok. But what that little girl looks like is what they all look like, my DD did BBB and we still have the make up - it's practically see through - even the blue. If you have seen pictures with bright make-up - it's added by the parent's because the BBB makeup is not dark or bright.

BBB may not be for everyone...for my daughter it is MAGIC! She really believes that the stylists ARE fairy Godmothers in training and that the pixie dust CAN make her dreams and wishes come true. I let her choose her hair style & we have done all 3 of them. I don't think they are "tarty" or slutty as some other members have posted. Some of the outfits I have seen on people in the park are far more innappropriate than some colored hair and sparkle lip gloss that they put on at the BBB for sure! My daughter LOVES the entire experience, sitting in the fancy chairs, chatting up the FGIT, asking her where the princess sleep, what princesses hair she has doen ;-) etc. The look on her face when they turn her around is priceless to me. Also the non-dress package is imo not outrageous. If you purchase the crown or hair extensions, makeup set and nail polishes from a WDW gift shop (they do sell them) they add up to at least $30. So for the extra $20 you are paying for the salon experience, and I know here in NY a salon visit is at least $20 if not waaaay more!!

I love it! I am actually kind of hoping my DD picks that style for something different than the norm. LOL!

What pictures are you looking at I have not seen one picture that looks trampish at all - look at the post above yours - does that little girl look trampish? That's how the girls look when the leave BBB.

I agree. I can never even tell the girls have makeup on in all the pictures I've seen. I would say the brochure might have more on it, but the girls aren't turned out like those pictures at all.
I think they all looks so cute and precious. And the most important thing is , most leave feeling beautiful.
Just like when we go to a salon and get a haircut and style, and feel a little extra special that day.
We go on Monday! I can't wait to see how we do!

I personally have done BBB many times and for someone who RAELY wears makeup I found the BBB makeup to be fine EXCEPT last time Both my Girlfriend and I found our eye shadow to be a bit on dark side. Her Fgit asst went a bit wild with the eye shadow to point where her fgit redid it.

Sorry the OP didn't have a good experience at BBB.
We were just there 2 weeks ago and my DD4 LOVED it! I feel this place is more for 3-8 y/o with the occasional mom/dad/bro/sis just going for the fun of it. They let you know the hairstyles available before they begin, so I don't really see what the problem is.
I find these comments about girls looking "slutty" and other put downs like this amusing!!! My daughter's make-up was barely visible and very appropriate. Some people need to lighten up a bit. This is meant for little girls to have fun and let their dream of being a princess come true...nothing more. It's not like they are being paraded around for a beauty contest. If you don't like it, then simply don't go and let the ones who enjoy this type of activity do just that...ENJOY! BBB is an amazing experience!

Sorry, this post is a little bit off-topic, but I was wondering - is there an age limit for the BBB? I was kinda toying with the idea of going for my 24th b'day while I'm there (just the hair and make up, not the costume. hehe). Thanks for any help!

Nope, you can definitely do it! While we were there, we saw a child, mom and grandma all getting dolled up at the same time...it was too cute!
Go for it...so much fun!

WOW, "bippity boppity SLUTique" and "tartish"?? REALLY? I am appalled right now, and so soo sooo saddened! It is all a part of dress up/pretend/imagination/good ol'fashion fun. Speaking for my own child, she does not wear these hair styles or her tinkerbell costume everyday. The day she did wear it, she absolutely did not look like a slut or a tart, or anything but absolutely precious! just an fyi ,adding a lol after a comment like those does not make the comment any less offensive, would you tell someone to their face that their child looks like a slut? As for teens not liking it, and it being silly for any child over 9, that is a shame [not you OP, I mean people who's kids say it is dumb]. There is nothing wrong with wanting to play princess/pretend for a day at any age. It seems everyone wants to grow up so fast these days. I'll continue to let my 8 almost 9 year look tartish as long as her little imaginative heart wants to. Maybe we should start calling it the judgiest place on earth!

It is supposed to have a pirate themed restaurant as well....now for those who do that, (if it comes to be) will those boys (and girls) be "bad". I mean pirates are bad and scallywags, and swashbucklers,etc. Does that make those kids become that then? They will look it, right? And they will WANT to look it. Right? It will make them feel special and like a priate. OH MY GOSH! How awful to let a kid look like a Pirate! ......

Just that some of the hairstyles or makeup might look a little on the tacky/trashy side on their sweet little girl...so I think it's taking it a bit far to say that those same people would think that dressing like a pirate would make a little boy turn bad. I let my son dress like superman all the time, but I probably won't let him wear tights to school, and I don't think dressing like a superhero is going to give him the power to fly (but for the record-that would be awesome!)
I am a total newbie, so I am probably just completely missing something, but I don't see why anyone would take offense to someones opinion of a hair/makeup style? My friends and I disagree on the socks with capris thing, but we tease each other and laugh, and at the end of the day we wear whatever we want with those darn capris! (I'm in the no socks camp) Do I think that in some of the pictures the hairstyles and makeup look a little less classy and a teensy bit trashy- Yuppers! Do I care- Nope! Do I think that any of those sweet little girls are anything but sweet little girls? Big Fat No way Jose! (and I doubt if anyone else was implying that either)
Are we going to BBB on our first trip and get all prosti-totted out (Elizabeth Hasslebeck from the View coined that term, sorry if you think it's offensive, but I think it's funny as all get out!) You bet, and we are super excited about it too!

Sorry your DD didn't like it. My girls went when they were 16 and 14 and had a blast. They even put the hair back in the next day for an extra day out of it. So money well spent for me.

Here they are with my BFF's DD. The 8 year old is the real reason we made the appointment but the older two girls had just as much fun as the little one.

We have done BBB twice. The first time all my girls did it and they were 12, 7 and 4. They all loved the experience (my younger 2 are little girly princesses, my oldest is not). She did it just to be with her sisters but wound up having a lot of fun. The photos are beautiful and made them feel like princesses. I have a photo right in front of me on the wall of the 3 of them that day. They were very happy and that made me very happy.

We had intended on making it a one time thing, for financial reasons. In november my grandmother said we had to do it again, her treat. She said if I didn't I'd regret it. Only the younger 2 did it, they were 6 and 9. They loved it as much as before. They again looked beautiful (as they always are) and had a great time and those photos will be cherished by us forever as they grow out of the princess stage (especially now that we have had one outgrow it.) I did not feel it was overdone, to each his own I guess. But I just asked DH what he thought and he said they looked like little angels, then corrected himself to say little princesses.

I am sure it isn't for everyone, but I am glad it was there for my girls. I will remember our times there forever as some of our best Disney memories...

I *SO* agree! How can anyone complain about a teenager (or any girl in today's age) who would ecstatically spend $50+ to look like Cinderella rather than Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse?

I'll take the most scantily-clad princess any day over these two.

I don't have a DD, but if I did, I'd have absolutely no qualms about bringing her to BBB if she wanted to go.

Amen to that!! I get so tired of hearing Dis members being told that they have NO business complaining about an incident they had while on their trip to the world.

No business complaining? Who said that? Where? The poster to whom you refer simply iterated the very reasonably recommendation that, while complaining here is fine (yes, I know, not stated but definitely implied), that is NOT going to get anything changed at Walt Disney World. Only contacting Disney directly can possibly effect such a change, even one as simple as making sure reservationists are aware that BBB only does three styles.
