Hi all - I'm really on the fence with this one. Every year, since my granddaughter was 4, we have taken her to the BBB when we go to MK. We had reservations for the BBB in 2020, which got canceled due to the pandemic. We went to WDW last April for Spring break, but the BBB had not reopened. This year, we are planning a trip for 10/29 (going to MK that day); she turns 13 on 10/28. Do you think she could do it? It's sad that it has been closed the past 3 years, and this would be her last one.

If you’re able to book it (I thought the cutoff was 12) I would if she wants to do it. I think kids are different. I can’t see our 7 year old daughter being interested for more then a couple more years but she’s a very intense and serious kid. Haha.

Sorry your granddaughter missed out on it for so many years. We did it with our daughter when she was 3 and then happened to be there shortly after it reopened in September. So she was a couple months shy of 7. I hate we missed those years in between.

Agree that you might have a hard time booking it since she will be 13 when your trip starts.

We had a similar issue with ages and missing trips. Dd is 12 and said she wanted to do it one last time in November, but more for a throwback and last chance and not because she was ‘into’ the experience. I was surprised and booked it, but she decided the day before that she didn’t really want to do it after all. And honestly, I was a little relieved. The more I looked at the website and the offerings, it definitely seemed like she had aged out. :(

I’d say try to book it so you have the option, but don’t be too shocked if she changes her mind as it gets closer.

Does she want to do it? I only ask bc I have an 11 year old and she’s already said no for this year. But if she wants to, I’d maybe try and call first and just see if they’d be willing to grandfather her in due to Covid.

I agree about asking her. My 9 year old said she doesn’t want to do it anymore. If she wants to do it and she’s allowed based on age, then I would let her. However, all the other kids at the boutique will most likely be significantly younger than her so I don’t know if that would be OK with her. It seems like the age 3-7 is the most popular age group based on just seeing kids in the parks afterward.

If she wants to I'd say do it. My DDs would not have wanted to do it at that age but every kid is different.

This is a tough one. My girls had done it a few times but by 11 they both really aged out of any future interest in doing it again.Even at age 11 they didn’t want princess dresses anymore, it was more focused on doing their hair/makeup and bringing their own costumes. I’d ask definitely ask your granddaughter and see what she thinks and also call Disney regarding the 12 yo cut off policy.

If she wants to do it, and you are unable to book it for her, look into some of the laid off CMs who will come to your hotel room and give you a similar experience. Actually some of them are so good that it looks even better than BBB and she wouldn't have to worry about feeling older than everyone else there because it would just be her.

Yes, I thought about doing the room experience. The girls haven't worn the costumes in a while now (see my avatar) The last time they got theirs done was at the Ivy Trellis before it became the BBB. On this trip, all the cousins are going for their first time ever. The other 3 girls want to do it; she said she would be ok if she was too old, but she doesn't want to miss out on sharing the experience with her cousins. They have never done it before. They are 10, 9, and 7.

Look into Ivy Trellis Salon at the Grand Floridian. I’m not sure if they still do it. But it use to be a great alternative for adults and kids over the age of BBB.

I’m going to close this thread since posts cannot skirt Disney’s rules. If she’ll be too old for BBB, then look into Ivy Trellis.
