so what are the reviews here..i saw one post on here saying its way too small......thoughts?

im going in november so im curious

I'd be interested to know how it compares to AKV Jambo House, Kidani's and SSR's pools. Comparing it to SAB at Beach Club just wouldn't be fair.

The pool is fine. We never had any problems with crowds at the pool. There were always enough chairs/towels/lifevests. There was hardly a wait for the waterslide. My DD's loved that pool and chose it over the regular contemporary pool despite the new water play area.

We like the pool! It is not as large as some of the larger resorts, but it is nicer than the quiet pool at BCV! The big slide is awesome! (yes, I rode the slide). I was surprised it is so shallow, no more than 4 feet anywhere. If you want a change, it is a less than 5 minute walk over to the Contemporary pool, it is much larger. There is a walkway by the marina and you will not feel uncomfortable walking to it in your swimsuit. We walked over to get burgers at the Sand Bar grill. The Cove bar at BLT does not have a grill. We walked back with our food and tray from the Contemporary and it is very close.

Thanks for posting this. Nice to know we have some options that are a short walk from the BLT pool.

I thought the pool was too small. We were there last Thursday in the afternoon. Most if not all the chairs had towels or some personal items on them.I just wonder what will happen when the resort is full. Also the pool is very shallow compared to other DVC pools. We did walk over to the
Contemporary Pool to order a burger from the grill and that pool was very light. We ended up staying there for some time and really enjoyed the Contempoorary pool.

The pool at BLT appears to be approximately the same size as the pool at Kidani. Even though they seem small when compared to Jambo and, of course, SAB they didn't seem over crowded at all - and this was last week in the hot August sun when you would think most people would enjoy a dip in the pool. While it would have made sense to make them bigger during planning and construction (and they definitely had the room) they're finished now and that's how they'll stay - they are both very nice pools with great slides. The two new pools both have 2 lifeguards (not 3+) and no real CS - maybe DVC is lowering expenses to keep MFs down.

OP - what does 'POV' stand for (in your title)?

We spent most of Saturday at the BLT pool. There was a CM that day going around removing towels from chairs periodically - if it was just a towel, if there were personal items he left those alone. He also would ask those lounging if they needed a new, dry towel, etc. It didn't seem like people were left without a chair that day.

The pool in spots is on the shallow side although there is an area in front of one of the lifeguards that was 4'8" deep. It's possible it seems more shallow because of the zero-entry portion which probably take up 1/3 of the pool. Most of the pool was in the 3-4 foot range.

I do think all the pools need more umbrellas/shaded areas. BLT and Kidani didn't seem to have many umbrellas near the lounge chairs (the few tables had them).

Okay - did you say lifevests were there? That would be great if I didn't have to pack 2!

Yes, there were lifevests of various sizes out by the pool. It was nice because they had them in a large container for guests to take and return when leaving the pool area. When we stayed at BWV we had to go to the community hall to sign one out and leave a credit card # in case we didn't return the vest at the end of our stay (not sure if this is still how they do it at BWV). No need to pack them!

I agree! We spent a lot of time this trip at the pool, and tanning is out for me, I and would have liked to have had a lounge chair in the shade. As it was, I camped out at one of the tables under the fan. It was not bad there, and the tables were not full. I noticed the same lack of shade over at the Contemporary. They definitely need more umbrellas.

So can guests staying at the Contemporary just walk right over and use the pool at BLT?
I thought I read somewhere that you couldn't get anywhere in BLT without a room key?

No, the BLT pool is fenced in and requires a room key from BLT to enter (includes the Cove Bar, jacuzzi and kids water play area). The pool at the Comtemporary is not fenced. You can walk over to BLT from the Comtemporary on the ground level and can look at the picnic area and the fountain, but you cannot enter the building without a room key. You cannot enter the sky bridge between the Comtemporary and BLT without a room key either. It is a great place to view fireworks too if you are staying at BLT on a cash reservation and can't access the TOWL.

They are supposed to need a key, but when we were there the gates were not working right. Looked closed but would open without the key card.

Maintenance was there working on them the day I left (8/25) and they were working that afternoon. They were definitely not working 8/21-8/24.

LOL - When we stayed at Jambo House in June I thought their pool was sort of small. We had stayed at CSR in April and that pool is pretty big so Jambo House pool seemed small in comparison. Of course, none of the pools compare to SAB.

I thought the pool was too small.
Is the BLT pool larger than a quiet pool at other DVC resorts? Maybe we should start thinking of it as BLT's larger quiet pool, since CR has a much larger pool and BLT is part of the CR. We'll have to rename the BLT pool from quiet to alternate pool.;)
