Bathroom sprays question

I bring the small spray with me from BBW and put it in a ziploc during transit. I put almost all toiletries in ziplocs when we travel and am always glad I do because stuff leaks or squirts out from the pressure.

we've used scentsy room sprays and travel tins and poopoori before, they all work great

I am asthmatic so Poo-Pourri and other masking sprays do nothing more than create problems for me. What does work is a product used at our local hospital that actually eliminates biological odors and surprisingly can be found at Amazon.com. I always carry a small spray bottle of this with us when traveling.

That's a good idea, and it wouldn't be too strong a scent.

I have brought an air freshener, but because of the lack of fan in the bathroom- but because the smell coming from the drain the year before was awful! I just bought a cheap air freshener and left it behind.

We just hang one of those car deodorizers (the little pine tree...but in a non-pine scent) and throw it out when we're done. The bathrooms just tend to collect odors after a few days. Travel-size febreze works really well for those poo-moments :-)

I use the solid Glade pop-up air fresheners. They're under $1 at Walmart. I put one in the toilet room and also put one in the closet (or I treat myself with a Yankee Candle car jar for the closet) because the closets smell kinda dank.

I fly with hairspray in a can and have never had any problems.

I've had it confiscated. It was definitely a smaller can than mentioned in the Air Canada post.

dclpluto said: "You probably won't need it. On a cruise you eat a lot so you poop a few times a day or more. Poop mostly just stink when you only go about once a day when it's been in your body a while."

I frequently send the family that will be cruising with us on our next cruise little bits of trivia. Dclpluto's bit is definitely going out today.

If you are referring to the floor drain near the toilet, try pouring a few cups of water down that drain. That has always worked for me and is the remedy the room hosts use.

Please be very careful about using something strong enough to be smelled in the hallways or to linger in the upholstery or curtains. I'm allergic to many smells. It can be really uncomfortable for me to be in the presence of anyone with a strong perfume on and Febreze or Lysol causes me more problems than poop smell it's used to eliminate. Smells you might not notice or think very pleasant can make others sick. I'm sure none of you want to use something that would create a problem for the next person to stay in your cabin or the folks at a table or seat near yours.

We've used a Bath and Body Works plug in on several of our cruises, it double as an air freshener and a night light. This cruise we're taking a Cinnamon Pumpkin Cheesecake bulb. We've been testing it in our spare room to make sure DH likes it. Our cabin attendants have always commented favorably on our good smelling cabin. (it does bleed into the room, but never noticed it in the passageways.)

I have a lot of family members and friends who are very sensitive to fragrances. This is one of the reasons I don't use sprays.

My dad used to complain about scents and perfumes when I was younger, I used to think he was just being cranky and overreacting - and then as I aged, I developed the same "scentsitivity". It's horrible. Even the most benign smells can set off a migraine-like headache lasting for hours. I can't tell you how many times I've had to get up in church and move to fresher air, or pulled my shirt up over my nose to filter out a perfume. The problem is real, and it stinks (pun intended). Thus, poo-pourri has become my odor eliminator of choice.

Thanks for that honesty, Churchladychurchlady. I once had to leave a spot when someone's perfume was overpowering me in church, too. I've felt so guilty about it ever since, but I was getting a sore throat from it. Maybe it's time to forgive myself, if I'm not the only one who's had to do that.

We bring a solid room freshener like Yankee Candle or Glad -- and hang it in the bathroom. For that small space, it does a great job.

Yes, these were what I was thinking of. One spritz is VERY strong, though. Also, unless I buy it in Orlando, I have to take it on the plane... which says not to take things that are in a can and have 'exploding' warnings on them. I also have to find a hairspray I like in a pump for that reason.

PrincessSchmoo, I like the cotton ball idea, but I wonder if it would be strong enough when needed.

Over50visits, Lysol something or other might be the way to go.

Churchladychurchlady - never heard of poo-pourri, heh, but I assume the name says it all. I'll have to watch out for that, but I'm not sure that's the answer for my kids, who'll dump it out, not use a drop or two.

Most spray cans are fine in the luggage. Have never had a problem with this in the past and I have flown over 100,000 miles.

I go to our Dollar Tree store and buy an aerosol can and check it in our luggage. Worked out great!

Another idea are Bounty sheets. You leave a couple of those in there on a shelf or two and they work nicely and aren't hard to pack. Double bag them though and we put then in the front pocket of the luggage.
