Bathroom attendant

Which resorts have a "bathroom attendant" in them, and are you supposed to tip them and how much?

To my knowledge there are non at Disney. I have NEVER seen one in any of the bathrooms unless it was a janitor cleaning in the parks. This is a European tradition which doesn't happen stateside for the most part.

I've never seen an attendant in a Disney resort restroom, or any other restroom on Disney property.

There seem to be very, very few places that have an attendant these days, I think that tradition is fading into the past.

Saw one years ago at Planet Hollywood :)

I for one will be not be crushed if the service is disappearing. I have nothing against the attendants themselves... I have always found them to be pleasant and good at their jobs... my beef is that it is more of an effort to dig for money than it is to get my own paper towel. We have attendants at the bathrooms at our state fair and I don't find the service to be helpful. I suppose in that case they may also make sure that no one trashes the bathroom, so maybe there are circumstances. When I used to play in the band there were bathroom attendants and they were helpful with mints and safety pins and personal items and that could be nice.

I meant, if the service is disappearing in general. I had not seen the service at Disney either.

I am almost positive there was 1 at the restroom in the Grand Floridian near hte main lobby- but that was a long time ago...

theyre still at planet hollywood. this was our 3 or 4th time eating there and i guess i had never been to the bathroom before. well i literally walked into a wall of perfume!!! lol since i knew they are normally tipped for helping etc i didnt touch anything that i didnt have to! lol course i dont also normally take money to the bathroom with me!

Hahahha not at Disney. Maybe Planet Hollywood is the exception, but nope. This is more standard definitely in Asia and Europe (as an above poster mentioned). So perhaps the international DL parks have them, but certainly not WDW. Come to think of it, bathroom attendants aren't common at all in the US. I was just at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in NYC this weekend and it was a treat to have one there in the public restroom off of their beautiful lobby, but then that's expected seeing as hotel rooms are $800 a night for a standard king or double.

There was a lady in the restroom in the Contemporary near the entrance to The Wave. I don't know if she's in there full time, but the few times I used that restroom, she was in there hand-rolling wash clothes and stacking them in little baskets for hand washing and personally handed me a towel after I was done washing. It wasn't a full attendant service (i.e., no perfumes or mints and didn't run into the stall to clean up after each person left or anything). There wasn't a tip basket or anything either.

1) They used to have one at GF near GF Cafe restroom.
2) This was stopped (I think) in 2003.

Our local County Fair finds it necessary to have an attendant. I think it's more to stop the bathrooms from smelling like a septic tank. "Pew"

He sits by the door partially obstructing it but I just walk past giving nothing. If I were to give anything it would be some coins. A few dimes or a quarter or two.

I too have never seen attendants anywhere at Disney, not even at Planet Hollywood.

I'm picturing one at the YC in the lobby restroom. Maybe it depends if there's a convention in the house or not? Or maybe I'm wrong :rotfl2:

Both of these restrooms were attendant-less during our trip in September. They have a CM that restocks the washloths, but they paid no attention to anyone, just did their stocking and left.

I don't recall an attendant anywhere at Disney in recent years.

That's good to know, I'm not a big fan of the bathroom attendant...every time I go to a bar in NYC I try to avoid the bathroom, because they seem to be everywhere there! I don't usually carry money around with me and I feel bad not tipping them, but I'm sorry, I usually use my debit card to buy things! And if I do have money, I certainly don't have a lot of extra singles floating around to use for tips! :rotfl2:

from my experiences, the BW frequently has one.

India... every bathroom has at least one attendant, at the "not so nice places" lots of them bring their young kids with them.

I don't know the GF very well, but there was not one in the atrium restroom near 1900 PF in 2007.

I was a guest at GF a few years ago. I had pancreatitus and .... um ....... got sick in ALL the bathrooms at the GF (and many others too!). I never saw an attendant.

While I certainly have seen many restroom attendants folding washcloths and cleaning, they are not working in JUST the restroom and are not a tipped attendant unlike the one at Planet Hollywood who does stay in there and is hoping for tips.
