Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

So, I left off just as we had entered the BLT lobby and were about to be ushered up to the Top of the World lounge for the DVC BLT presentation. I didn't expect much, but I knew they did serve cheesecakes on a stick...:rolleyes1

A CM comes to gather a group of us and up we go in the elevator. As we step out, we see this view

1018070873_UzEZL-L.jpg

1017396977_G2Kx5-L.jpg

Pretty, pretty!

And then the camera was put away....for a very long time. I took ZERO pictures of the lounge or the entire event! :sad2:

We enter into the lounge, which is a decent size, but smaller than I expected, and quite a few people are up there already, like at Welcome Home Wednesday, all the tables were occupied. But, we did find a nice grouping of lounge furniture that we staked as our spot. Before we got settled in, all three of us headed up to the buffet area on the bar. They were serving little sandwiches, maybe a couple other simple things and then...

the glorious cheesecake on a stick.

Seeeeeeeeeeeeriously.

So stinkin' good!

I do believe I ate...oh...about six.

I am completely certain the CMs were talking about me behind my back wondering how many I could pack away. :rotfl:

But! They encouraged it! They kept telling everyone, "Get more food! There is cheesecake!" So I was just obeying. ::yes::

Anyway, the presentation started shortly after everyone was seated and munching away. It was a similar style, but less "flashy" than Welcome Home Wednesday. They had four volunteers come up for the contestants and quizzed them on questions. There was a twist to it though-where a name was drawn from a box of people in the audience and we had to choose one of the four contestants to answer, they would answer, then we had to agree or disagree with them. The contestants were purposely picked of things like "New DVC Member" "Long time Member", etc. so their degree of knowledge was varied.

Most everyone in the room had a turn and everyone won something - regardless if you were right or not. They would sometimes show a short video or give information about various DVC offerings, BLT, the new resort in Hawaii and also the new cruise ship, the Dream.

It was a lot of fun and again, we learned something!

And ate a lot of cheesecake. ;)

At the end they gave away MORE prizes by drawing a name from the box. I cannot recall what the prizes were, various DVC gifts mostly.

Then there was the grand prize, a $100 Disney Gift Card.

They pulled out the paper and....

THEY CALLED MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe it!!!!!!! I won yesterday, I won today! Two AMAZING prizes! Needless to say I was THRILLED! We had already settled our bill at the Boardwalk, so this was money to either save for the next trip or blow...we'll see later what we decide to do with it. :rolleyes1

After I got over my unbelief we started to head out to the model rooms on a lower floor.

Oh-but how was Henry during the entire presentation?

WILD MAN!!!!

He sat nicely for a short while, enjoying some of the food--then he and another little one made buddies and found the giant round ottoman in the middle of the room and decided flinging themselves on it and running around was a lot more fun.

When he grew tired of that he colored on some of the DVC paper items we were given. He was a bit restless and bored after a bit, but it was completely manageable, thankfully! Overall, it was fine - the entire presentation was very laid back and no one seemed to mind the shrieking and laughing child.

We soon were following a guide down to the model rooms.

As we were walking down the hallway I found myself really liking the feel of it all.

They opened the door to the 2 bedroom model unit and I uttered a "Wow!"

It was beautiful!!!!!

Not at all what I expected my reaction to be! I completely expected to like it fine, but not to be wowed, but I was!!!

I haven't a clue if they changed something, if my taste has changed, or if natural light truly helps (the models over at SSR do not have natural light) - but these rooms were stunning.

And despite me really enjoying the room, a guide was speaking with us and Henry was still being quite wild, so I only snapped one picture:

1017436141_4SDFZ-L.jpg

Joe wanted to speak with the guide about numbers - we are thinking about an add-on in the future and was just curious as to what it was selling at, and all the info. So we went into another model until that they had turned into a conference type room and started to chat.

However, it was here that Henry had had enough - the meltdown was starting. So I left the room and took Henry for a diaper change (pretty bathroom!) and to settle down. He was exhausted. I laid him down in his stroller and waited for Joe.

He came out a few minutes later and asked me to come in - so I wheeled the half asleep Henry inside and Joe wanted me to look at the numbers and talk about some things.

I was NOT happy.

:sad2:

Yes sweetheart, I want that add-on as well, but there was NO WAY we could do it then.

It only took one look with raised eyebrows and he knew what I was saying.

We thanked the guide and left the room.

(The guide called a week later asking if we had made a decision...I had to be a bit BLUNT with him, which was annoying. One no should be enough!)

However, on the way back out in the hallway

1017394829_cHUtR-L.jpg

we decided that we just had to stay here if we could in next trip.

And as you already know, we got it!! March 5 - 12 will be spent in a Lake View Studio. I am VERY excited! I'm not totally thrilled with the Studio, it's teeny and I do not like the bathroom vanity/kitchen set up (hopefully we get a renovated room - they are changing it!), but I really enjoyed all the other aspects of the resort as we walked around and soaked in it. Plus, staying in a Studio allows us to stay at WDW for two weeks. :thumbsup2

Overall, I am still very glad we bought into Kidani at AKL. It's a stunning resort, with an amazing pool/splash area, awesome restaurants, everything from a Value accommodation to concierge. Should DVC ever take away the perk that allows us to book at any DVC resort, I sincerely would not mind staying at AKL. However, we will probably do the add-on for a different resort...not sure where yet. We aren't close-enough to being able to afford it quite yet to speak seriously. The time will come, but it won't be anytime soon.

Back to BLT, before we had left the Lounge upstairs everyone was given 3 DVC FastPass cards, a DVC pin, and a DVC lanyard -- along with all the other little goodies we had been given as we started the presentation. I have pics of everything later.

A DVC FastPass card is a hard plastic card that you put into a FP machine to get a FP good for that exact time - so it allows you to skip the line right away. They are each good 3 times and we had 3, so a total of 9 instant FPs could be used on these. They are wonderful to have!

So, as we left BLT we decided we had just enough time to dip back into MK to hit a thing or two--we couldn't let those FPs go to waste! Plus, earlier at MK Henry had requested to ride Buzz, but we didn't have the time, so we told him we would come back.

We took the walking path to the MK

1018083534_Ba9Rb-L.jpg

And by the time we reached MK we realized we were quite pressed for time...talking the guide after the BLT presentation really ate up what time we thought we would have.

And OF COURSE the parade was going on!

1018084546_yN2co-L.jpg

And remember how crowded it was earlier? It seemed even worse now! We were power walking through the shops and down the sidewalks, trying to get to Buzz Lightyear.

1018089013_nfR7h-L.jpg

Not too bad of a picture considering I was almost running!

And it was hot...so, so hot.

Ugh.

Not the way I anticipated on this going.

We short-cutted through the Tomorrowland Terrace and finally reached

1018062836_7Fvpw-L.jpg

It was worth it.

1018090863_zrPM8-L.jpg

We had one happy boy (wearing the DVC pin and lanyard!)

1018090483_C7Xc6-L.jpg

Even with the DVC FPs, we still had a short wait - it was a longer wait than I had a few days prior in the regular line!

Henry and I rode together.

After our ride it was REALLY time to go. We quickly passed our DVC FP cards off to a family with two little kids and rushed back toward the gate, through the Tomorrowland Terrace again.

We were about to turn left and scurry down Main Street when I stopped suddenly.

I had to get one more glance. I had to say good-bye.

1018053807_VtWeh-L.jpg

And so did Henry. (and, honestly, so did Joe!)

1018080984_JwUYW-L.jpg

"Bye Mickey's House! See ya real soon!"

Alright, let's go...but I will be taking pictures on the way out! Must soak it all in!

"I don't wanna go!!!!"

But this CM

1018024860_2CXi5-L.jpg

brought the smile back to my face. He was AWESOME. Just loving his job, standing there waving at people with the big 'ol Mickey Hand, his wonderful attitude was contagious on that hot day, full of crowds and rushing. Thank you kind CM!

A bus came quickly at whisked us back to the Boardwalk in record time. We ended up with time to spare before ME was due to arrive...so what did we do with that time?

Shop of course, I had $100 to blow!

Wow you are on a roll with the winnings. You should play the lottery.

Glad you liked BLT. We stayed in a LV Studio this same week last February and loved it. It is a little small but we were fine with 2A and 2K(9&6). We even had a Magic Kingdom view. When you looked straight out of our room it was the lake, but if you looked to your left -there was Space Mountain and the Castle. It was so nice to sit out there and see the train go by.

How fun to take a little dip into MK. Pecos Bill and the railroad?! What a fun way to spend your time.

We accidentally got off at the BLT stop on our last family trip and I had no idea about those locked doors! Thankfully we were able to get through with other guests.

It was a great way to spend that late morning/early afternoon! And it was much more laid back than the time in MK later....:headache:

I just wonder how many people have slid through with other guests? The "lock-down" really isn't all that useful, in my opinion! :confused3

Thanks Brook!:goodvibes Our trip was incredible, how could it not be when I was in my most favorite place in all the world?:thumbsup2 And I thought of you too...we were all talking the first night and I asked each of my girls (and DH) what their top 3 things to do at park would be. Stole that idea from your PTR!:thumbsup2

Ok, I'm semi caught up here. So far, love your laid back no plan Epcot day! Looks like you had a fab time although it's pretty weird how Henry could be tall enough for Soarin' at the entrance but not at the actual ride?:confused3 I would've been like "think tall, Henry, think tall!" Glad you made it on though, Soarin' is such a wonderful ride!:goodvibes

Love this sweet pic of Henry on the boardwalk!
1017180250_KcDyj-L.jpg

Girl, I can't believe you won a photo session!! Way to go!!:thumbsup2 I'd have been thrilled too. How wonderful!:goodvibes

Ok Brook, that clown slide has got TO GO! Seriously, it's giving me the heebie-jeebies! And this pic reminds me of something from The Exorcist or something. Even Henry wanted to get away by requesting the kiddie pool instead:laughing::
1017170675_Kz2MY-L.jpg

Thankfully, you posted this adorable Henry pic to wipe out the scary clown one, this is too precious:
1017361924_VSR4p-L.jpg

OMG, I love, love, love all of your photo session pics! That girl did an amazing job, you all look great! Henry looks too adorable, what a cutie.:goodvibes

Looks like you had a nice little time at the MK before your BLT tour too. I keep meaning to ride the train there and yet I never do. Why is that?:confused3 I'm going to do it next trip! I hope the tour went well and Henry was cooperative! I too love the look of the CR but DH absolutely hates it. But he did like the looks of the BLT so maybe. Who knows!

Awww, how sweet that Henry sat between those people! They looked like they enjoyed him too.:goodvibes The monorail is awesome, it's like a ride in itself so we always make it a point to ride it (we actually rode the tronorail last week!!!)

Whew, I'm caught up! Yeah! And you're leaving in what, 18 days already? So cool! Are you going to do the live update thing again? It was so fun!:goodvibes

The Top 3 Things works GREAT! It was Heidi's originally I believe, and has made it's way around the DIS community. :thumbsup2

I am near positive I told Henry to "Think tall." and "Act tall!" :rotfl: It must have worked! Now he's a total pro. He stands stick-straight and looks ahead...but of course it will be a breeze at the measuring stick this time, he's over 40" in bare feet.

The clown slide is weird! I wonder if he'll ever get refurbed? I know people seem to either like him, or are horrified by him. I kinda like him because he's so weird...:rolleyes1 I'm warped!

I'm so happy to hear the Tronorail is still there!!!!! I hope they keep it for a while yet, I want to ride it and at least see it again. My one picture of it turned out really poorly. It's so cool looking - they should keep it for a long time I think! We'll see though...what a great way to advertise their latest movies though. I like.

And just 17 days away!!! So much to do, but I am slowly making progress. And YEP! I will be doing live FB update and hopefully a few on the DIS (on my future PTR) as well. I really enjoy the live FB updates...and they help me write my TR. :teeth:

So glad to hear you had a great trip! Now get to writing that TR! ;)

Haha oh man! Don't you hate when your husband puts you on the spot like that? My husband once did something very similar to me at a user car dealership. I seriously gave him the same "look". lol!! They were very pushy and I actually had to be super assertive to get us both out of there. It's too bad that DVC had to be a little pushy too. That takes away from the magic a little bit. It is a very pretty resort though. That view you saw up there was gorgeous! :) Congrats on your future plans!

You are so lucky! I want you to buy me some lottery tickets.

I have to hand it to you for sticking to your guns and not caving on the added points. I'm such a push over. I never go with DH when he's car shopping.

Henry did look real happy to riding Buzz. Love getting in that last ride.

I can't wait to see what purchases you made with your card.

I totally get why you didn't do the BLT add on, but I don't know if I would have been willing to walk away if Don were as interested as Joe! I guess when it comes to finances Don is the Brook in our family, he has to keep me in check the same way it sounds like you have to keep Joe in check

Congrats on winning the gift card! With the luck you had going did you buy a lottery ticket on the way home?

Oh you got me! This made me sniffle a little! I always have to soak in one last good look at the castle before leaving!! Although, the past few trips, we spent our last day in Epcot so it's one last good look at SE! :thumbsup2

Ka-chow and Ka-ching!! Wow...you should have come right back to NY and played the lottery....you would have those points in no time!!!
I think I would rather go to the BLT presentation than WHW....you had me at cheesecake on a stick  I will see if I can beat you!!;)

LOVE your photo shoot pictures.....the sand pictures are adorable....all of them are :goodvibes He is such a photogenic little boy :)

So cute on the monorail....love his sly little smile that peeks out :thumbsup2

You are just moving right along on this TR....it's almost like you have another trip coming up or something! :rotfl2:
:yay: you are almost in the tweens!! :woohoo:

Tracy

Wow prizes 2 days in a row?! You were on a roll! What a wonderful way to end your visit :goodvibes

I loved all of your pictures of MK, I can't believe I will be there in 19 more days(I am in the teens). Henry was so cute on the monorail, he is going to love staying at a monorail resort.

DH and I stayed at BLT last summer and I loved it. We had a bay lake view and I really enjoyed watching the boats on the lake, the birds across the bay on the island, and the people parasailing by the window. Then at night watching wishes from the CR deck then back to the rm to watch the night parade on Bay Lake. The shops at CR are fun also. Then of course it was great just to walk to the MK, or jump on the monorail to EPCOT.

Ooh, now you need to help me with winning lottery numbers!;)

I can't see myself going to ANY of the DVC meetings you guys did, but they sure paid off for you!! WOW!! They do sound fun, and who can complain about cheesecake?

Glad Henry got his last spin on Buzz- he looks like he just loves it! I think once he gets tall enough to see over the front, his score should get better. :lmao: What a little angel!!

Can't wait to see what you blew your wad on!

Wow you are on a roll with the winnings. You should play the lottery.

Glad you liked BLT. We stayed in a LV Studio this same week last February and loved it. It is a little small but we were fine with 2A and 2K(9&6). We even had a Magic Kingdom view. When I told my Mom about the 2 winnings, that is exactly what she said!

That is the view I want! I'd LOVE a partial MK view with the lake. :cloud9: I didn't put in any requests...so who knows what we'll get! I'm glad to hear you loved it!

Haha oh man! Don't you hate when your husband puts you on the spot like that? My husband once did something very similar to me at a user car dealership. I seriously gave him the same "look". lol!! Usually DVC is not pushy, but this guy kinda was and it totally turned me off. We told him SEVERAL times we were just gathering information for a future purchase. The very earliest we would be able to purchase would be February (now -- and that ain't happenin'!), but he just kept gently nudging about how the price is going up, etc. Joe has a hard time saying NO firmly to people...but I don't! :teeth: It does take away the magic a bit. :sad2:

You are so lucky! I want you to buy me some lottery tickets.

I have to hand it to you for sticking to your guns and not caving on the added points. I'm such a push over. I never go with DH when he's car shopping.

Henry did look real happy to riding Buzz. Love getting in that last ride.

I can't wait to see what purchases you made with your card.

Normally I don't win anything! I couldn't believe it! But, I was INCREDIBLY thankful, and still am.

Joe is the push-over in this family, without me he has a very hard time saying no. I wish he'd be stronger in it! I wanted the points, but knew there was zero way we could afford them. I'm pretty happy with what we have now, and I know we will eventually add on, so I will be patient for when we can actually pay outright for them. :thumbsup2

Yep! Exactly! I am the one who says NO in this family...I wish Joe would be stronger with it, he knows better! :rotfl: But, it was easier to say no because I know we will eventually add-on, we just have to wait until we can truly afford it.

I didn't buy a lottery ticket on the way home, but my Mom had told me I should have!

Oh you got me! This made me sniffle a little! I always have to soak in one last good look at the castle before leaving!! Although, the past few trips, we spent our last day in Epcot so it's one last good look at SE! :thumbsup2

Me too! Must soak in that last moment to tide me over! Sigh. I can't wait to be there again in 17 days! :hyper:

Ka-chow and Ka-ching!! Wow...you should have come right back to NY and played the lottery....you would have those points in no time!!!
I think I would rather go to the BLT presentation than WHW....you had me at cheesecake on a stick  I will see if I can beat you!!;)

:yay: you are almost in the tweens!! :woohoo:

Tracy

Good point! If I had won the lottery I could have had those points! Darn!

The BLT thingy was more intimate too, it was just about 20 people, so it was personal and fun. Each person had a turn and got a chance to show off their knowledge (or lack there of!). If they are still doing it, we might go again...afterall...cheesecake...:teeth:

Henry is probably only photogenic because I make him pose for pictures all the time! :lmao: Poor kid has a camera in his face almost daily.

If I moved at this speed for the entire report it wouldn't take me six months to write them! What a concept! ;)

Wow prizes 2 days in a row?! You were on a roll! What a wonderful way to end your visit :goodvibes

It really was! I really couldn't believe it!

I loved all of your pictures of MK, I can't believe I will be there in 19 more days(I am in the teens). Henry was so cute on the monorail, he is going to love staying at a monorail resort.

:woohoo: 19 days!!! Are you going to the Small World DIS Meet on the 1st? There will be quite a few DISers there!

Oooh, I love your stories about BLT! I'm getting more and more excited to stay there. I would LOVE to watch the boats and the parasailers. And Wishes right there...ahhhhh! Do they pipe in the music to the deck? We want to watch at least once from the lounge too.

Ooh, now you need to help me with winning lottery numbers!;)

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42 ;)

Thats awsome about winning those prizes.

It really was! I just couldn't believe it when they called my name!

I can't see myself going to ANY of the DVC meetings you guys did, but they sure paid off for you!! WOW!! They do sound fun, and who can complain about cheesecake?

Can't wait to see what you blew your wad on!

They were a lot of fun! I'm glad we went. It was fun to do something a little different too. And the prizes (and food) were a great bonus. :thumbsup2

Henry does love Buzz - I think we rode about 5 or 6 times this trip. We'll see how many rides we rack up in 15 days. :rotfl:

We left off after completing our photo session at the Beach Club. Joe, Henry and I slowly made our way back to the Boardwalk so we could pack up our bags and take them to Bell Services -- it was time to sadly say good-bye to our beautiful villa.

On the way over to the Boardwalk we saw some filming going on, one dark haired chick in front of the camera -- I wondered out loud to Joe if it was Stacy.

1017417940_ThLtA-L.jpg

There was no way I could tell, but if they start a new loop on the TVs and she's at the Boardwalk in a blue dress, this family is just to her right!

It does look a lot like Stacy...but also have you looked at the new planning DVD? I thin kthe girl on that has long dark hair too. I'll have to go watch it again. Al lthe fliming could've been for that. They changed it up A LOT this year...and I think it is much better than it has been over the past couple of years. I am really starting to think it's the girl from that planning DVD the more I think about it. I'll let you know when I watch it again

I can't believe how lucky you were!!

Can we trade husbands for few weeks.....just till i get DVC bought! :lmao: Skip will NEVER buy it.

:woohoo: 19 days!!! Are you going to the Small World DIS Meet on the 1st? There will be quite a few DISers there!

Yes, I am looking forward to meeting up at the Small World DIS Meet, we might fill up a boat.

Oooh, I love your stories about BLT! I'm getting more and more excited to stay there. I would LOVE to watch the boats and the parasailers. And Wishes right there...ahhhhh! Do they pipe in the music to the deck? We want to watch at least once from the lounge too.

They do pipe in the music. One night we went up the stair well to the 6th floor(above the monorail) to watched the fireworks and were still able to hear the music. The wishes music is played over the resort channel during the fireworks if you just want to listen to the music one night.

Double the winnings!! Woo-hoo! :woohoo:

Your good-bye pictures brought tears to my eyes. Just a few...
